I believe Anton is not that far off with his advice...even though he is one of the worlds best and he is giving advice for us mortals. I Have completed a 100 Miler plus 9000m+. My training was in fact not 'high mileage'...but certainly a 'few' long runs/walks. And as he says, the mental attitude accounts for probably at least 40% of completing a 100 Miler. I don't know why it is...but some humans like to push themselves further and further. So, in that spirit I have treated myself to a '60th Birthday present' and entered the Swiss Peaks Trail 360km and over 25000m +- :-)
Will gladly report back to let you know how I got on! Thank you Claire for all those fantastic reports, interviews and general advice you produce for us! Peter
Tony's one of my earliest inspirations for ultra running and I'm glad to see he's still at it. I always get a big boost out of seeing him on the local trails.
I’m running a 24 hr race (my first race beyond marathon) in 6 weeks and hoping to clock but 100 miles but 100k minimum. Great tips. I love his laid back persona.
Amazing, make sure you listen to all Tim's advice here on training for a 100, really good stuff studio.ruclips.net/user/playlistPLyZ16LRfpz0DZf7ieoLiq0145r_JDp62t/edit?o=U
My most realistic advice is this....don't compare yourself or your style to someone else...a lot of people compare themselves to the genetically elite....you know yourself, could you put more attention and effort into training?? My running always improve when i pick up a paper and pencil and make a plan..map out your week, and follow thru! Happy running to all!
Dude is a humble gifted athlete who doesn't prescribe industry norm advice. I can appreciate that. Wish I could have seen him win 100 after 100... maybe that's not his calling.
That is our way of saying that someone has his or her head on straight, doesn't get swept up in the commercialization of things, just does his/her own thing. It can also mean that someone is well-centered, down-to-earth, and has his/her ego in check.
TOP TIP: Be born with the genetics of a long-distance runner. So much crap in this video. The guy has been killing marathons since he was a child. His "tips" do absolutely nothing for 99% of other humans. It's like Michael Jordan giving Basketball "Tips" to a 30 year-old whose only 5' 6" lol.
@@wildgingerruns Don't forget to delete all my other comments too. Disagreement is NOT want you want as an "influencer" haha. Keep lying to people for $$$, it won't make you feel better though lol.

Thanks! Why not try starting your own RUclips channel and doing it better? This was when I first started out on RUclips and was fortunate enough to have a chance to interview Anton, he is super ace and gave excellent advice, glad you liked it! Claire
Anton represents himself a trail-running philosophy. It doesn't change anything he is or not anymore a top world trailer. He is kind of a guide for numerous trailers !
Temporarily... lol... Dude used to run 200 miles a week. He's just going to learn to push through pain that will most likely never disappear. I think he will be back after he takes a long enough brake to explore other avenues of training like he is now. He's gotten into skiing and he climbs a lot. He's just an all around animal and he doesn't mind getting hurt in the process of finding true presence and enlightenment. He's a god and whenever I'm struggling with my own injuries I just look at him and think, "man if I can just be half the trooper he is I'll be A-Okay!" Thanks for your great videos! I have so much love for this community.
“You need to get in a couple of long runs” - love the understated advice for training for 100 miles on foot 😂
Nice to see you got Anton to sit long enough for a good choice of questions... great work to both of you!
Lol he was unfortunately injured at that time so he had a bit of spare time! Glad you enjoyed it :)

How did that go sir?
Don't underestimate the 8th tip. Bike and C.C. Ski and swim miles are cardio too and avoid injuries.
This is fantastic advice for me. I’ll be doing my first 100 miler in December this year. These tips are really going to be of help

Although 26.2 miles are my very limit, I like this video!
Great interview... and nice points raised
Runners and skateboarders have adopted a mustache predominant look
Wow!
1 tip. Don't be weak!
We would like to do a 100 mile race for an episode on the channel, can you point us to the resources we need?
Top man! But no, not tempted at all to race 100 miles at once. Maybe after i have been running for 20 years and become a pro ;-)
indeed i could do one day, as you say, when i want too :-)

Sorry but Anton is no top US trail runner for a long time. Great guy but he never learned to train well.

Lol I don't think he will do Barkley! :)
Very informative, thank you!
