  • Folks, please subscribe to ‪@CurtisR1114‬ otherwise known by his OG RUclips name, JamaicaQnzFreak as he was with me on this trip!
Seen here is a compilation video of the recently retired Neoplan AN440LF Electric Trolleybus fleet. These buses primarily operated on the 71 and 73 routes, and sometimes on the 77 route. This compilation video is the last video from the Boston Metro area until I return there in the future.
On March 12th, all of the 4100-Series Neoplan AN440LF ETBs have been removed from service and temporarily be replaced by New Flyer XDE40s on a temporary basis, until the ETBs are ultimately replaced by Battery-Electric buses. Major roadway & infrastructure work is set to take place in Cambridge & Watertown, which will require the overhead wires to be de-energized so crews can work in the area.
MBTA is also planning a new North Cambridge Facility, replacing their current North Cambridge & Albany facilities and making it to work with electric buses, further accelerating the retirement of these buses.

Thank you for this. Getting rid of the trolleybuses was a terrible mistake.

Nice video. Face covering still required?
Here in Europe it's almost Germany that remains. Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, France and Poland skipped this already.

With Boston retiring its Neoplan ETBs from passengers service last month, and the soon-to-be de-energizing of their trolley wires, this officially leaves seven cities in North America that still operate trolley buses.
I say seven because three of them are well known. They are San Francisco (MUNI), Seattle (King County Metro) and Vancouver, Canada (TransLink). The other four cities in North America with an operational trolley bus system are in Philadelphia, Dayton, OH, Mexico City and Guajajara, Mexico.
