- We’re invited to the Chelsea Flower Show in London and are bringing you along! It’s the world’s most prestigious garden show. With hundreds of garden designs and floral displays -- we always come away with new ideas and inspiration. Even more extraordinary is that none of the garden displays previously existed and the designers have only two weeks to put them together!
It’s also a good time to reflect on some of the decisions we’ve made with our own gardens and the lessons learned from trial and error. Remember those daffodils we planted in the Dower House orchard? When they finally bloomed -- we were in for a big surprise!

Borja loves Chelsea because HE is the horticulturalist in the family. I feel he is always looking for ways to make the estate more exciting outside as well as in. Dean loves it because of the beautiful, traditional, posh English gardens. He will use flowers to decorate the house. I love that too. Both you guys are precious.

I love a moon garden... I'm all white all the way. However, for the orchard I'm 1000% on the "have a wild look" band wagon. Go crazy and have a mix of bulbs and colours all the way

Hello from Australia. I'm new to your channel but have been catching up on all your progress...which is absolutely amazing. Love your work.
When you were talking about the flower show promoting water conservation, drought tolerant plants etc we have had to deal with this issue in Aus as our rainfall isnt as predictable as yours in the UK. Home owners here are encouraged to install rain water tanks which are fed from the roof gutters. Perhaps check with your local council to find out if is allowed. Who wouldn't want free water.
BTW so happy for you both with your new arrival. You will be wonderful parents...your son is so blessed to grow up in such a productive and creative environment ❤

London is something special! Dean always has enough do the city in a day! I must admit that I prefer the quite countryside but love the energy that London exudes
You could or maybe even should install one or several very big underground rainwater storages. With filters you can use the rainwater not only for the garden.

I love that you guys keep the gardens simple like your designs inside. Having a lot of the same flower makes such a huge impact. I bought my house last year and this year I’m finally getting to my garden. Thankfully my aunt is an expert because I have no idea what I’m doing and I have no patience so I want everything to look pretty and full immediately! 😂😂
Definitely! I mean if it was me for the first year I would plant a lot of cosmos which you can get a packet of seeds for £3 and you will get hundreds of plants with lots of flowers that you can pick the whole summer and slowly be planning for next year! But you have your aunt so she can definitely help!

Press day is probably the only day to visit Chelsea (unless you go at the crack of dawn) - we were so disappointed when we went last by how busy it was, you couldn't properly see the show gardens and it was chaotically busy.
Honestly yes, we are very fortunate to be invited on press day, but we were there for a second day and you are right we had to queue to see the actual gardens
We've caught up on (and in!) watching your videos here and - surprise - we love them so much! They are so inspiring! We are just wondering when on earth you are doing the editing on top of everything else you do...
Can't wait to find out what the big news will be. My optimistic guess is portico-related: the historic monuments protetction authority (or what ever they are called) have finally realised what an amazing job you are doing and have provided you with an enormous grant to realise all the work you want to do! 🙂

I love the multi colored daffodils. You do need to leave the daffodil leaves so that they will make food for blooms next year. Makes a good excuse to now mow for a while. 😂

So I heard the reason you want to have like additional flowers by your fruit trees is that they tend to have higher nectar content later in the day, so to keep the bee around you want to plant other types of flowers. I read allium is a good companion plant. I tried planting these, then my apple tree died. :-(

Have you guys ever decided that maybe put in some beehives maybe you can find someone that has bee hives and they can put them in your orchard maybe in the corner I have 2 beehives and I have someone take care of them and they take the honey and give me a few bottles every time and they do what's for the Is honey

For Dean and your critical eye, when you spot a flower that is different in colour or shape consider creating a new verity as apposed to dismissing it. Our plant world can only expand when we take care of the unique (Breeding a new variety is also a great form of addition income... you could name it “Borja’s Delights”)

I think your bulbs will survive but, they may not bloom next year. If you allow them a year to recover (and don't cut their leaves off), they will bloom well the following year.

I love all the work you do and you both have great taste in design and gardening. The only time I wanted to give you a slap was when you got anal about the different colour of daffodils. I was watching and the first thing that came out of my mouth was, "are you kidding me?" I'm so happy that you have come around from that and have embraced the beauty.😊

I think we explained on a previous episode, we are having the portico professionally restored, we will show it all soon and explained everything as it has been a nightmare!
You don’t cut the leaves of the daffodils
We are aware we didn’t do it correctly, but what the bulbs that we moved next year will come up without a flower and the following year will come back with flowers ☺️
@@mytinyestate or not sometimes they keep coming up blind and those in the grass you need to leave for at least 6 weeks after flowering to ensure good repeating flowers .
