Would you mind maybe putting fly patterns in the description. I dock from fat boys and am looking for spots to fly fish around the bay. Where would you recommend? Nice video by the way👍🏼
Thank you for the question! And, thanks for watching. I do not know much about the Jones Lake area. I have heard that Pierce Marsh is a great place to site cast to reds, which is located across the railroad bridge from Bayou Vista. I fish Galveston Island State Park occasionally and the canal lights in the neighborhood can be outstanding at night. Be sure and use a small minnow type pattern. Maybe a #6 or 8 size. If you are in a kayak, you can find guts and such with your paddle. That is how I found the gut where I was fishing in the video. It is more of being out there learning the area you fish and tuning into the environment. I caught all of the trout on a #2 black/purple clouser minnow. I will try to get a video of me tying one before the weekend is up! And, I will begin putting images in the videos of the flies that I am catching them on. Thank you for the suggestion and please stay tuned!
Mind sharing what weight setup you are using, as well as the line and leader? I've grown up fishing reds and trout on light tackle, but want to learn as much about fly fishing for them as possible! Anything is appreciated! Keep it up
Thanks for watching! Lately, I have been using a custom sage 6 wt with a sage spectrum reel. The line is 6 wt Scientific Anglers Amplitude???? And, I use a 9 foot leader starting with 40 lb mono on top, 20 lb. mid, and a 12 or 16 lb floor tippet!.
Fingers crossed, line crossed, fish were caught!
Nice video and fish too . Thanks for sharing Andrew
Thank you Sam!
Great video bud. Keep em coming.
Thank you very much! Thank you for watching!
