The 986 beats the living heck out of the Modern MX5 in every way! I love the little light moderns Mazda’s but the 2.5 Flat 6 in the 986 is a pure pleasure to drive with a 5 speed manual or even with the triptronic transmission it always puts a smile on your face! I would not agree it’s a “cruiser” not a “Sharp sports car” as the video suggest, it’s a car with a spirit and personality that you have to learn in order to make the human connection with this mid engine, perfectly balanced and weighted delight if a machine and German engineering! The balance is impeccable and they even had to down grade the performance so it would not compete with the 911! Both the Mazda MX5 and 986 are light on their feet and handle phenomenally, the 986 has much more performance but actually requires precise drivers input versus the MX5 which seems like easy to drive and handle after a few runs! The 986 has better balance, more power with high revving linear power&WAY more refined fun⚙️🥳 It’s a car that not only grows with you day by day as you bond with it but a car that grows on you as you appreciate its refined and exquisite performance! I hate convertibles. I got the car for a steal. All in all as u see it in this video i had about 12000 in it. Sold it for 15500. I wanted to do something that hadnt been done before. So we bonded the zeintop to the body and molded it seamless.

Hmmm....if he left it stock, at a mighty 201 horsepower it would be a definite letdown. OMG, was that the front rotor at 2:28? It looks so small I thought it was the rear. Ah well, better than my non-existent porsche.

The car is so lightweight that the horsepower out of that stock engine makes that car fly! Especially when you take it in the mountain twisties. No other car can keep up.
@@kellynash4588 I guess it's all relative to who you're driving against in the twisties. In 1997 the curb weight is 2,822 lbs. manual/2,954 lbs. Tiptronic S. That ain't light in my world, if you want light then a 1997 Lotus Elise is less than 2000 pounds, but you would have to get the later models for almost as much horsepower. If you think "no other car can keep up" to your 200 hp/2954 pound car, well, don't be upset when you find out differently. The car isn't that light, a Honda S2000 was very similar with better power.

Nice but, just buy a Cayman, even a base 2.7 deleting secondary cats, installing straight pipes and a lightweight performance muffler like one from Motorwerks racing and a drop in K&N filter is enough to give you more power and the sound that you're looking for. Get some 30 mm wheel spacers on the factory 17-in wheels, do not install a 19-in rims and tires to look cool cuz it's going to slow you down you're adding weight to the car and just enjoy. This build is a cool customizing way to create your own but I'm sure he spent a lot more money than simply just buying a Cayman. Or just spend the money and buy a Cayman S

boxters are dirt cheap now days, if you do the conversion your self. you can have it done for under 10 grand.
