After many years I started appreciating masterclass of the editing and realised how perfect this is. He didn't mute the film itself so we could hear characters and that made it more realistic. When the camera zoomed on Saruman, he was louder, when it was away from him we could hear kind of an echo. And the perfect lips timing. Ahh, masterpiece
The way his lips are frozen in place to hold the drawn-out vowel he 'sings' while the rest of the scene keeps in motion, like how his hair moves in the wind, without distorting his expression or hitting 'uncanny valley' territory is serious skill.
And the tension between the characters and saruman tho you can see the annoyance

Given Tolkien’s creation story and the Songs of Power, Saruman singing could be extremely dangerous. This is perfection.
This is beyond well done! The fact that the song matches his mouth movements is gold!🤣
The ironic part is that Tolkien wrote in the books that Sarumans most dangerous weapon was his Voice so technically Saruman might've tried this trick as his last attempt against the invaders, if only Peter Jackson had exploited this side of him.

You're Spying Saruman's pretty speech was in the book, but, as you may know, his death was alot different in the book, thus making the end of the War of the Ring end differently...*SPOILER ALERT*....the Battle of the Shire, where Saruman was killed at Bag End, was the last battle of the war, the age, and the book...I was dissappointed that Jackson chose to leave Saruman as unfinished business in the films...tho this deleted scene did attempt to finalize Saruman's role...it was one of the bigger deviations from the book

Yes, PJ insisted on it because he wanted to put this reference into the movies despite Christopher Lee's considerable protest against such a big deviation from the books (Lee was a big fan of the books and in fact the only crew member to have met Tolkien in person back in the day).

Because that's just bandpass/lowpass/highpass filters, delays and reverbs inserted into the audio clip to make it sound more authentic...i say just...it's still it's bit of tedious work haha
