Film will survive due to the dedicated photographers breathing new life into it. Film is great, Film has flaws that make it look much more natural than digital, I dont like how when you see pixels on digital they are all uniform and even. In film grain is spread out randomly and uniquely and that makes it more realistic. It isnt perfect. Because Perfect is flawed. nothing is Perfect
I appreciate you so much for being someone who loves taking pictures and visiting Coney Island. My cherished stomping ground from 2006 to 2008. I was there every day taking pictures and blogging. You are bringing me back the need to be there again. I really miss it.
Wow, Coney Island ! I'm an amateur photographer, I have been photographing Coney Island, on & off since the 1970's. I have many black & white and color photos of Coney Island, most of my work in the 70's was black & white which I developed and printed myself using the old darkroom enlargers and filming developing equipment. The digital computer technology was not available yet. I just purchased a V600 Scanner and plan to do lots of digital copies of my black & white and color film, and color slides. I'm in my 70's I hope I live long enough to complete this task (Ha). So now you can see how good you have it compared to the 1970's (just kidding). Coney Island has super sunrise's and sunsets that are awesome, and the boardwalk at night is great also. I also had a Mamiya large format camera; it was a Mamiya C330 Twin Lens Reflex, I just sold it. Looking forward to your RUclips videos, I'm learning a lot.
Amazing video!!! Bought my Mamiya RZ67 Pro II a couple of months ago, after wafting your video on it. Thanks for all the great videos of 2018, and those to come in 2019.
I miss taking pictures in Coney for my old Coney Island blog. Love the vid! I’ve told some of these popular New York RUclipsrs to go out to Coney but they haven’t as of yet. Thanks for sharing this.
I have only just found your channel and videos. Can't believe I didn't find you sooner. Thank you for how honest you are when talking about your style and process. Many people I shoot with or know are very secretive and it's very upsetting. Currently purchasing your zine. Keep up the fantastic work man!
Ok, I like the shot of the guy with the Mamiya 645... very interesting shot I'm still wondering which 645 he has and what if the digital camera he's using... Great shot.
i watched nearly every video of your channel in a row. I love your channel, you seem to be a nice guy and your photos are dope as well! Keep up the great work. cheers from austria!
before discovering you channel i was like, yeah film is cool but i have an a7ii so im good, but now tommorow im going to buy a film camera because of you, thank you so much.
Got my RB67 Pro S from Japan a few days ago, just waiting on a big 120 film delivery. Can’t wait to get out there and shoot with it in London... Love your work. Your photos are F£$K!ng awesome (do you over expose a little?), I haven’t had the chance to shoot film on a really sunny day yet (I live in London) as I only picked it up in September when I bought my first film camera (Canon EF). If you’re ever in London let me know, would love to get some tip from you.
Just subbed! Congrats on the video, captured the vibe of a photo walk perfectly. I actually just started my own street photography channel myself, so I know how hard it is to get good photos AND video at the same time. So kudos to the camerman (or woman haa) too!!
Very nice work all the way around! The last shot of your video, the guy in the hat with the mustache, was excellent. Suggestion: share a little more about your thought process and how you're working. Not so much f-stops & shutter speeds, but your thoughts about over-exposing and the film stock your using to get a certain look, etc. Teach it, brother, otherwise it's just pretty pictures! Keep up the good work!
Great video, Willem. It's the first time I see one of your videos and I really loved it. I only shoot digital, I can't afford to invest in film right now, but this inspires me. The composition of the photos is fantastic.
So as far as I've seen you are not an open aperture guy, or do you not want to use an ND filter in bright light? Anyway, great channel, great pictures. Love the Mamiy, too. I am using the 110mm, the 65mm L-A and the 180mm most of the time.
Hey Willem, love your videos Man. Are you overexposing your Portra, or just metering for the dark areas because the images all have a dreamy washed-out feel?
on a bright sun day, rating portra at 200 instead of 400, do you still meter for the shadow areas or do you average out both shadow and sunny areas? thanks, great work very inspiring keep it up!!
I love the eye you have for photo's ! It's so different to how I photograph! It would be cool to shoot along side you one day! Cheers mate have a good one!
Great video man, awesome shots! As a fellow owner of Mamiya RZ67 I have to say, it really likes good light, and you have found it at Coney Island! best, bayek

@@WillemVerb Thanks for the reply. I've sent my film to both the FIND Lab and Carmencita but they haven't given me anything like you've got. And I shoot Portra 400 at 100. What lab are you using?

You, are a good photographer. I would like to see how you are doing in 5 years time. Way to go man.
Do you use any filter or profile for your pictures? They look so soft
would love to see how (and how much) you edit your scans before uploading them :)

Might have to come through with another at some point!
Great video, very inspiring content! Cheers from Belgium!
Gang gang
Oh sick, another video.
Hey Willem, love your videos Man. Are you overexposing your Portra, or just metering for the dark areas because the images all have a dreamy washed-out feel?
Love your work Man ! When you use portra 400 at 200, how do you develop it ? like a 400 one ? thanks ! 🙏
young man but so good at old lens, incredible !
Nice Steaze,,Will

super mooi Willem! really did enjoy the video
Bedankt :))
Hey Willem, were the images in this video scanned the way you described in a previous video? By that, I mean with Epson Scan and Lightroom? I'm really loving the flat look you and Roman Spataro get in your photos.
These were lab scans! Film has a ton of dynamic range so you just have to ask for flat scans or use low contrast settings
@@WillemVerb Thanks for the reply. I've sent my film to both the FIND Lab and Carmencita but they haven't given me anything like you've got. And I shoot Portra 400 at 100. What lab are you using?

really nice vid and great photos you're making there - which lens are you using out of interest ?
I might not shoot film and try to emulate film on digital but your videos are a huge inspiration for me bro please keep it up🙏🏼
Ayyye good to hear! Love for any kind of photography
Bro, sick photos. How do you navigate the cost of developing? These labs are ridiculously expensive.
We got the same comforter. So uh yeah, there our connection.
Its a family
it's your cousin roman, let's go bowling
Man what a location. I could get lost there.
I love seeing how you take your images compared to how I’d take the images
