  • With the constant wet weather, there has not been a lot else to do other than clear ditches and try and get rid of some water.

    Great vid. I spent 16 weeks in a 13t machine clearing ditches, digging new drainage channels etc and then 4 weeks loading bulkers with manure, thoroughly enjoyed it and would do it all again if I had the chance.

    Nice video 👍🏻 Little tip if you rattle your bucket instead of shaking your dipper in and out when you dump your bucket you won't rock nearly as much and you won't hurt your back.

    Same problem here with people using ditches as a dumping ground for there lawn cuttings and tree off cuts just not decent of them but these sort of folk simply dont understand how the land works or even care.
    great to see you back on the digger pal and you not lost your touch.

    Nice video George, interesting about the type of digger and the trades you have to make for a "nodding digger" to an over hanging one 👍

    Hi George, great video, love watching people on the diggers
    We own 2 Hitachi 13 tons and a komatsu 3 ton.
    Your good on it, better than some that’s hardly on it. Great video, keep at it.
    Were busy putting in a new road, not fun when it’s rained for 3 days ;)

    Good to see a bit of ditch work being carried out. No one ever does that around here and the last time I operated a digger it was still lever controlled (no joy sticks) lol.

    Hi George, typical of modern housing developers, they don’t worry what’s going on just the other side of their boundary fence! They sure left you with loads of rubbish to dispose of. How about dumping a few tons of it in their show house garden see how they like that!!
    You were doing a grand job with the little digger! As you said better than having to dig it by hand.

  • @MrBissy123
    @MrBissy123 6 лет назад +9

    Report the builders surely George? Or ask for compensation for clearing their mess that they should have disposed of in the first place?

  • @alexanderdavison7162
    @alexanderdavison7162 6 лет назад

    Generally clean ditches from bottom to top ie head upstream,move on less than bucket width so you can glide over last bit to get an even ditch bottom .nice videos,don’t fall out with the builders,you might be able to cadge stuff off them cheers ,when i grow up I want to drive a flash tractor,combine ,sprayer,digger,oh no! I woke up and the nightmares come true!

    Your skill after four years still good with the digger, it is deplorable to see how disrespect for your neighbors, throwing all sorts of things over the fence ,creating habitats for rats or any other parasites, a question arises, but this ditch, does not have a continuation,to drain the sorrounding soil?
    Have a nice day George

      We have a 13 and 4.5 at work, always find 13 better for ditching, especially on well over grown rough ditches. 4.5 tonners much handier for digging for drains with 18 inch toothless bucket. makes finding drains much easier.

    I'm surprised you weren't tempted to put that rubbish back over the fence but I guess you have to consider it isn't the fault of the house owner. There has been a lot of water around this winter because there has never really been a week where there hasn't been any rain or snow. At least now we're in spring, it's the time of year where the sun is strong enough to dry everything up if there is a good dry week but that doesn't look inevitable any time soon so spring cropping looks like it will be late this year. I'm surprised you wouldn't want to connect the pit you dug to the drain on the other side of the fence before you filled it with half the water from that pond though haha.

    My god, who even where the housing develpers, they certainly are not allowed to put all the rubbish on your land ,,legally thats classed as "flytipping" and they are liable to get a heavy fine for that, and allso they are responsible for clearing too, i would certainly get on to them for that, Blocking drainage ditches is illegal, as it can and will cause adverse flooding ,. send them a bill for all that work,..they get away with far to much,..

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck 6 лет назад

      I have to agree with Bill here. If you over-rev these smaller machines they can just become jerky and less controllable. You don’t want to be at idle but if you’re just cleaning ditches the 60-70% revs is about right.
      No point burning diesel for the sake of it.
