Great video George, One think I always did like about you, every time someone pulled over you put the hand up and said thank you, don't see much of that these days, but it is great to see it.
Did my Class 1 training & test in a DAF wagon & drag back in 2008 around Staffordshire & Derbyshire, haven't had the opportunity to drive one again since which is a shame as I enjoyed it.
Great video George thanks for sharing. Would love to see a video of the powerstation sometime if possible. We have bio burners over here that burn wood chips but never seen one that burns straw
From what I understand conventional tractors with a maximum speed of 50kph are not permitted to use motorways only dual carrageways. I'm not totally sure but in think it states in the highway code any vehicles that can travel at the minimum speed for motorways which is 40mph and is sprung on all axles may use the motorway so basically that only allows merc unimogs and the digger fastracs.
That field on the left at 6:15 in the video sure looks like the field you were ploughing in with the TW 25 in the my favorite job ploughing video posted on 28th March 2021
Burt Welkerns if it's anything like brigg the unloading cranes are proper slow and abit boring to watch, admittedly when I was there they where still in the testing phase. I was supposed to be going back to fit another load of doors and grills that we made for the place, but it got handed over as operational so I'd have had to do another 3 hr induction course.
Ah i see, maybe not missing much then! That said, you're an insider so that sort of thing must end up being boring for you, but to an outsider like me..... well! thanks for the reply Hesston4860s
Burt Welkerns I'm not an insider as such, I'm a baling contractor same as George's boss John. I was only at brigg as I help a mate out though the winter who's a welder fabricator.
Do you know of a straw merchant in Suffolk called d.e Keeble I done a couple of seasons with them on chasers and know that they send most of their bales to Ely.
Remember my Hi8 very well in fact i still have it keep it for sentimental reasons with its VHS cassette converter them were the days. great video pal i realy enjoy these type of video's and of coarse its a truck whats not to like.
Did you say you were going Ely way? If so I'm surprised I haven't seen a JWB lorry yet, I work on a farm on the edge of Ely. I'm also surprised that they haven't got powershift in lorrys yet either
A few tricky corners on the A1 once you get into Northumberland and Scotland George. Same with roundabouts. The main issue though is parts of the A1 in Northumberland are single carriageway which means everyone fights to get ahead which means a huge accident and death rate. Are you able to show us footage of the power station delivery or is it a restricted site?
I suppose you're running at full height with that load so you're it's going to be a bit of a hand full on the bends. I do a lot of double deck work and they're the same. Good luck on the A14. I try to avoid that stretch between the A1 and Cambridge as most lorries seem to drive like nutters.
Nice vid, thanks. I'm surprised they fuel power stations like this, that it's worth burning straw, and that it's economic to truck it in like this. I thought their feedstock would be planted specifically for the purpose, and delivered regularly. Sounds like they buy anything flammable, as and when they feel like it. Cheers again.
It's a while since I did my hgv theory but I'm sure there something about vehicles over 4.5m wide being limited to 30 so I guess as long as you're lit up and visible it's ok for tractors....though a bit worrying when everything's flying past haha
George, you say that 95% of your bales go to the power plant .. are the bales you make a "secondary " crop to what you grow or are you growing to make hay? Thanks and cheers from Pennsylvania in the USA..
the problem with that type of gearbox is you can forget what gear you are in if you are not concentrating. New drivers find it very difficult to drive with that type of box. Also it is a night mare in traffic.
Hello George I have a Good ?. Is it from the videos that everyone see's, or that all the roads are so small or it is your camera showing a different view.
StewysGameplay it's all recorded on your digital tacho card which should be downloaded ever 28 days the only time I would do a manual entry is if I lost my card or was over driving hours for whatever reason the digi tacho basically does all the working out of working hours and that mate
jaker85 Robertson okay thanks mate, I drive a hgv every Monday but a 3.5 tonner every other day, wasn't sure if I needed to put a manual entry in cause technically I was still driving
StewysGameplay for driving wee motors like that I personally wouldn't bother with manual entries but each to there own no manual entries = less hours on the working time if ye know what I meen pal.
Josh Ower Agri Photography It's just, theres so much straw on the side of the road and coming off the back of lorry that i'd imagine it to be at least 1 bale.
Taken for granted that in normal driving you would go back down through the gears in a similar fashion, but what happens if you have to brake unexpectedly due to some eejit infront of you/dog running out/or whatever and you have to stop immediately - can you just flick back into your usual pull away gear as you would in a car, or would you have to switch splitters somehow? Thanks if you have time to answer.
Eezee Listen you can just drop her back down into any gear. On the lorrys we drive 1 split has 1-4 gears and the second split has 5-8 and each has a half gear. So you can change into any gear at any time.
You should be a lorry driving instructor George. Yesterday at the TL I almost got out and told the young woman behind to get off effin FB. Talking on a phone is one thing, at least you are looking where you're going. No harm on a road with almost no traffic. Nowadays don't use mine in the car at all.....and it's not a smartphone.
Highway Code Rule 253 Prohibited vehicles. Motorways MUST NOT be used by pedestrians, holders of provisional motorcycle or car licences, riders of motorcycles under 50 cc, cyclists, horse riders, certain slow-moving vehicles and those carrying oversized loads (except by special permission), agricultural vehicles, and powered wheelchairs/powered mobility scooters Pretty sure tractors count as agricultural vehicles, so no, they are not allowed on the motorway
The motorway signs tell you the following must not enter a motorway if; People who do not hold a full driving licence for the category of vehicle they drive, Vehicles incapable of a speed of at least 50km/h, Vehicles with an engine capacity of 50 cc. or less, Invalid-carriages or motorised wheelchairs, Vehicles that do not use inflated tyres; and Cyclists, pedestrians, and animals. So its 50kph or 31mph that you would need a tractor to do to be able to drive on the motorway. Personally i think it would be to dangerous lol.
I guess you mean if you drive on the right, because the vast majority of people are right handed - I had to laugh (in a nice way) as you sort of imply that all peeps in UK are left handed :) You would have no problem at all driving gears with your left hand or right hand, it would just be a "normal" action. I have driven tour coaches in UK and Europe and had to drive Swiss companies own left hand drive coaches over there, and it is no problem, no difference really, maybe takes 10 minutes to get used to and then you are doing great.
leave Mr Saunders and olf one lonely farmer for the simple mixed subjects alone the most each effective farming videos to these b------s if u don't like them f--k away off rant over good day to you a
I don't know what it is about them but pov truck driving videos like yours are so satisfying, especially with the good commentary
Great video George, One think I always did like about you, every time someone pulled over you put the hand up and said thank you, don't see much of that these days, but it is great to see it.
PS i LOVE the "cheers mate , thank you " whenever you pass oncoming traffic who yields to you
Euro Trucking Simulator: Saunders Edition
My word George you really are the jack of all trades, Now a HGV lorry driver as well as a top notch tractor driver. 8 )
Some more trucking videos if possible George :) That one was very good. Your a courteous driver too. Rare these days.
Great video George. Never been in a truck before so cannot believe how quiet it is in the cab.
I would love to come to England to just ride around with you. Enjoy your videos, and seeing your country side!!

Love your videos thank you!
Nice video George!
Nice video George,Are the indicators okay on the truck they sound like they are flashing rather fast.
Is there still the pub/truck stop whatever by the A1 called Wait for the Wagon?
george what do you use the other trucks for and how many do you have
hello from Albuquerque New Mexico in the USA Just adore the accent
very good george like a abit of trucking now again !
Do they not let you film inside the power station unloading area George? It would be cool to see a bit of their operation
Burt Welkerns if it's anything like brigg the unloading cranes are proper slow and abit boring to watch, admittedly when I was there they where still in the testing phase. Ah i see.
hey george can you do some tanker work with the lorrys of tractors and when udoing another ferrit video
we have an 45ft artic trailer for a valtra t173 and we get 36 on and it pull like a dream.
the tractor is only 180hp so yea quiet small for it
Do you know of a straw merchant in Suffolk called d.e Keeble I done a couple of seasons with them on chasers and know that they send most of their bales to Ely.

How did you get all your truck licenses? Thanks, Sam
GEORGE!! hows it go mate, do you make alot of power for your area?? Very cool!!
sounds like you have an indicator bulb not working.
im still wonderin bout me sewage truck i drive for a company here in ire .... did you ever sell f220 vacum tanker too ire.....?
hey George what do you think of the new JCB 8000 series
Did you say you were going Ely way? If so I'm surprised I haven't seen a JWB lorry yet, I work on a farm on the edge of Ely. I'm also surprised that they haven't got powershift in lorrys yet either

Are you able to show us footage of the power station delivery or is it a restricted site?
Awesome video I take it u drop the bales at Sutton power station ? And also see u have a look at where my clubs old racetrack was at wyboston
I suppose you're running at full height with that load so you're it's going to be a bit of a hand full on the bends. I do a lot of double deck work and they're the same. Good luck on the A14. I try to avoid that stretch between the A1 and Cambridge as most lorries seem to drive like nutters.
What ! we got to walk home ?
Nice vid, thanks.

Sounds like they buy anything flammable, as and when they feel like it.
Cheers again.
I'm not sure if I've asked, but I've been curious as to whether or not that gearbox is synchronized.
It is a synchronized gearbox 👍
Another great video george always do like your trucking/commentary video's , ps that indicator sounds a bit fast did you have a bulb out?
It's a while since I did my hgv theory but I'm sure there something about vehicles over 4.5m wide being limited to 30 so I guess as long as you're lit up and visible it's ok for tractors....though a bit worrying when everything's flying past haha
what bales do you have 80x80 etc
We sell a lot of straw to the power station how meany tons do you send them a year mate
Where is your farm based? I make videos of real life farming on around Cambridge.
long story shot
was hauling a load of straw to the farm and hit allot of trees my load was only half full
How efficient is burning straw for electricity? Any way of converting that load you have to kw hours or similar?
Roy Skenz seriously! burning straw? WTF happened to fossil fuels? or even cord wood? straw????
how many times a week do you deliver to the power station?
George was the red one Faster ? good Video
George, you say that 95% of your bales go to the power plant .. are the bales you make a "secondary " crop to what you grow or are you growing to make hay?
Thanks and cheers from Pennsylvania in the USA..
are the lorry's registered as agricultural so you can drive them on a agricultural licence or have ypu got a hgv Licence
the problem with that type of gearbox is you can forget what gear you are in if you are not concentrating. New drivers find it very difficult to drive with that type of box. Also it is a night mare in traffic.
Curious to know what accent he has since really outside what's most likely the London accent, I haven't the foggiest idea of what the others are.
Hello George I have a Good ?. Is it from the videos that everyone see's, or that all the roads are so small or it is your camera showing a different view.
How far away is the power station?
can you do some rating videos?
2:46 the mini isn't there, how strange.
But it left a dry spot :D
Do you have road signs stating your maximum legal speed ?
Yep
hi gerald yes we do in urban areas 40 mph then 30 mph even 20 mph round schools drove in canada twice drove throgh the rockies once
Good filming again George, what power station do you deliver too?
George, when you don't drive but still work, do you still do a manual entry in your tacho to show your working time directive?
StewysGameplay stick the tacho on cross hammers mate for other work ie unload load fueling washing truck etc
jaker85 Robertson yeah but what if you only drive once a week?
StewysGameplay it's all recorded on your digital tacho card which
should be downloaded ever 28 days the only time I would do a manual entry is if I lost my card or was over driving hours for whatever reason the digi tacho basically does all the working out of working hours and that mate

StewysGameplay for driving wee motors like that I personally wouldn't bother with manual entries but each to there own no manual entries = less hours on the working time if ye know what I meen pal.
How much of your load do you loose to the wind?
maybe 2 hand fulls
Josh Ower Agri Photography It's just, theres so much straw on the side of the road and coming off the back of lorry that i'd imagine it to be at least 1 bale.
doubt its even half a bale mate. the bales get compressed.

Eezee Listen depending on weight of load and how much speed u loose ye might have tae drop tae low box or split a gear ma man.
Eezee Listen you can just drop her back down into any gear. On the lorrys we drive 1 split has 1-4 gears and the second split has 5-8 and each has a half gear. So you can change into any gear at any time.
Ben Faulkner 16 speed zf box?
jaker85 Robertson yea
Thank you.
disappointed we did,not get to see power station !
Min speed for the motorway is 40. Mph is it not ?
no cause then you couldn't go on it with 40k tractors or loaders
Josh Ower Agri Photography I though it was illegal to drive tractor on the motorway in the uk
It is illegal, states in the highway code no agricultural vehicles
its not illegal
Josh Ower Agri Photography I thought it was as a guy got pulled over in a Kubota for driving on the motorway
what is a Lowry ,sorry hope spelling is correct?
A lorry is what people in the UK call their larger trucks.
Did you know we are transporting wood pellets from Canada to burn in the power stations, just do not seem environmentally correct.
Good stuff George!
George ya got an indicator out somewhere! ! !
All bulbs were working. It's just the relay...
Pls reply to this is a John Deere aloud on a motorways
Joshua Lane no tractors are
Greg Shearer yes
Read this from earlier this year..
www.agriland.ie/farming-news/have-you-ever-driven-your-tractor-on-the-motorway/#
Highway Code Rule 253
Prohibited vehicles. Motorways MUST NOT be used by pedestrians, holders of provisional motorcycle or car licences, riders of motorcycles under 50 cc, cyclists, horse riders, certain slow-moving vehicles and those carrying oversized loads (except by special permission), agricultural vehicles, and powered wheelchairs/powered mobility scooters
Pretty sure tractors count as agricultural vehicles, so no, they are not allowed on the motorway
Your aloud to as long as you do over 30mph
So cool
The motorway signs tell you the following must not enter a motorway if;
People who do not hold a full driving licence for the category of vehicle they drive,
Vehicles incapable of a speed of at least 50km/h,
Vehicles with an engine capacity of 50 cc. or less,

Cyclists, pedestrians, and animals.
So its 50kph or 31mph that you would need a tractor to do to be able to drive on the motorway. Personally i think it would be to dangerous lol.
If you are left handed this looks easy, but for us right handed Americans?
I guess you mean if you drive on the right, because the vast majority of people are right handed - I had to laugh (in a nice way) as you sort of imply that all peeps in UK are left handed :)
You would have no problem at all driving gears with your left hand or right hand, it would just be a "normal" action. So it's like a North America 13 or 18
Same thing as an 18 just take out 4th gear and you get the 12 speed.
But this Volvo has 2 crawler gears making it a 14 speed.
hey gorge its my b day today great vid could you do another legend vid
B.M agri happy birthday chap
Less road and more "power station" like in the title.
I am first yes me
Thats nice want a medal ?
