Dyna Super Glide, Before and After Vance & Hines Upgrade

  • My 2010 HD Dyna was all stock, and I wanted to put on a new exhaust
    system. It took a while to decide what exhaust I wanted. I would hang
    around the Harley shops to get an idea of the sound I wanted. I also
    browsed RUclips for other videos, which helped alot. In some videos,
    the camera would be a couple feet from the exhaust and this wouldnt
    accurately represent the true sound produced by the bike. I wanted to
    provide a video to help others in making their decission. When I picked
    my bike up at the dealership, after the installation, I was completely
    surprised at how great my bike sounded. The upgrade also provided a
    very noticeable increase in power and throttle responce. I am
    completely happy with my choice of V&H Big Shots and Kuryakyn
    aircleaner. It costs money, but well worth it!

    The stock exhaust sounds nice too. But the Vance and Hines pipes really changes the attitude of the bike itself. Nice.

    That is exactly the same thing I did with my 2012 superglide custom. I like the V&H big shots staggered, at time a little on the load side, but I still love me. Loud pipes save lives, looks good pal have fun.

    Hey Ozark,
    Dyna's are nice bikes! Small enough were it is easy to handle; especially in and out of traffic, and through sharp turns with speed. And, they are big enough and heavy enough to go on long trips without getting too beat up. Go Dyna my friend!

I have gone through the bike completely and even put in new injectors. However, I still get a small backfire and I am wondering if any special tuning is needed to make your exhaust compatible to the bike's computer setup

    Definitly better with the pipes you are running now. I am running the older vance hines shotgun pipes on my 02 softail and it pups out a oom so loud that it sets off car alarms in my neighborhood. Heres another thing that could gie your dyna een MORE charisma and that is if you mid pipes area wa eperated around 4 inche apart. The pipe almot touching each other from the mid range to the end of your pipe alo KILL much of the charisma and puts out two seperate booms instead of two that are too close together. I will never pay out the type money other harley owners are paying on pipes because if I eer replace my pipes I am simply going to take my pipes to a muffler shop and have pipes bent same as my present ones and then go hae them chrome plated in which you can get away with 150.00 or less doing it this way and also get pipes with larger diameter

    Nice looking bike for sure, but, hate the Twin Cam engines with their pressed together flywheel assemblies that will come out of true and will damage the bushings and bearings of the pinion shaft (cam side) and cause, eventually, catastrophic engine failure.
    Only solution is to tear down your engine and take the flywheel assembly to a performance, specialty shop where they will dynamically true your flywheel assembly and plug and weld the two halves together.
    I also hate that Harley used PLASTIC cam shaft tensioners on their two right side silent chain drives. Can you imagine a PLASTIC shoe pad rubbing on a METAL chain, they well wear out and if not periodically inspected and changed with break into little pieces to be sucked up by your oil pump and into the crankshaft and cylinders, causing catastrophic engine failure.
    CHECK OUT THE YOU TUBE VIDEOS ON THESE AND MORE PROBLEMS WITH ALL TWIN CAM ENGINES PRODUCED BETWEEN 1999, TO THE PRESENT.
    Sorry to tell you that, but, it's true.

    • @smackface6
      @smackface6 9 лет назад +3

      tomcata1467 a little maintenance to keep them running properly is all i got from that garbage you spew im sure it says that in the manual somewhere , and the same goes for every engine on the planet dude

    • @tomcata1467
      @tomcata1467 9 лет назад +1

      You have not even seen the Service Manual or you would know it make no mention of the inspection interval, as to when to inspect them, periodically. Same goes with the owner's manual, otherwise, you could quote the page it was found in either. Your very own words, "I sure it says that in the manual somewhere", tells me you haven't even looked it up, cause it doesn't exist. Don't take my word for it, look up plenty of YOU TUBE VIDEOS, POSTED BY HARLEY OWNERS, ON WHAT WAS STATED.

    • @smackface6
      @smackface6 9 лет назад +2

      it more than common knowledge your spewing you think your the first person to mention this kinda stuff, no wonder i didn't read the manual i've been working on these bikes since i was 17 it can be fixed with a little time doesnt mean its a bad motorcycle is what i got from your first comments

    • @tomcata1467
      @tomcata1467 9 лет назад +2

      You can't fix a pressed together flywheel that will come out of true. If you worked on Harleys, you know they always had a crank pin bolt and nut to hold the two halves of the flywheel assembly in true, and you also know that they never used Plastic tensioners on the cam or the oil pump running silent chain, before the advent of the Twin Cam engines. You have never worked on any Harley, I can tell you that right now. You better tear down your engine now and take the flywheel assembly to be dynamically, trued, plugged and welded to stay in true to not ruin your engine. It doesn't matter to me, when it craters, but, just thought you should know about, it. I was looking out for your interests as a fellow biker and Harley enthusiast. You can still believe in little fairies for all I care. The information might save some listening bikers trouble ahead, if they listen to what I have said.
