I think i have watched this video like 10 times! Very hard to walk away sometimes when the person keeps giving you breadcrumbs to string you along. But at some point you have to realize they will never come around. One sided relationships damage you if you let it keep going on and on!

It’s important to know that walking away isn’t a ploy to get someone back. If you walk away you are doing so for yourself.
I think if you get to this stage, it’s very likely a point of no return. If they could be better, they wouldn’t risk losing you.
Also, maybe they ‘see the light’, but I would question: for how long?
Moral of the story: walking away is for yourself! (To avoid more of the same in the vast majority of cases).
Really like your vid!!! Great message.

I disagree with "whenever you're ready".
For me that is still giving them power, that they can take their time and I'll be sitting here waiting like a dog.
I don't think telling an ex I'll be waiting is a good idea at all.
My person wanted space, but instead of telling me, just ghosted.
Left me in a state of anxiety. I was sending so many messages, desperate to get them back.
We had only been in a relationship for a few weeks, but have known each other for over half a year.
I decided to have a phone conversation, say how I felt in response to being called obsessed and unsteady.
Didn't even seem to understand why I was upset going from speaking morning noon and night for weeks, spending time together on the beach, dinner, drinks, etc...to zero.
    No explanation.
Why would I say I'll be here waiting?
    No thank you.
I got ghosted. I said goodbye.
Now I am in no contact.
    Trying to stay strong.
    Currently in day 3.
    Wish me luck!
    Love from Stockholm Sweden

This hit me pretty hard. I was the person being walked away from in my situation. Nothing hurt more than realising my own mistakes too late to fix them. She tried telling me and telling me and I never listened. It’s been many, many months now and she has completely cut herself loose from my life. Not heard from her even once. It’s like she no longer exists. Or I no longer exist to her. I’ve accepted the fact that she’s not coming back, but the pain, the guilt, the hurt she’s left me with has been unbearable. I’ve reached out maybe 4/5 times just to talk, not even fight for her back. I just want to talk and discuss things, part ways amicably. Allow me to explain myself and tell her I understand. But every message is left with no reply, not even opened. Honestly, I don’t even feel like I deserve this any more. I’ve learned my lesson but it’s so cruel to cut someone off this abruptly and for this length of time. It’s like, I get it, it’s over, you’re gone.. but can we at least talk it out so I don’t wake up feeling like an absolute piece of shit any more?

Don't give them your power. Even if you have to stay busy 16 hours a day and sleep the other 8. Love yourself I was in a break up last year but I refused to miss work over it. I went to therapy and I am a therapist. We need help too. Again we have to mourn the break up but remember your worth. I had a beautiful relationship however he walked away devastating me. Try to love yourself. I traveled, went to therapy, exercised, prayed and journal. One year later I'm doing really great. I have not dated yet but I know other great man truly exists. we were serious for 1.5 years. Same here the quarantine breakup is real. Went 5 weeks with NC... she contacted me and we met up. We talked for about 2 hours. Toward the I felt the vibes starting to be off. She wants to be “friends” I told her my feelings for you is more then friends and I wanted us in a romantic relationship.. she then said I didn’t grow which was total bs she’s only saying that cause she wants to friend zone be and I said I can’t because I like you more then that.. at the end of the day everyone is human and I have feelings also.. time to walk away tbh I really did care but I’m young and healthy. It sucks cause I work with her but she’s leaving for a new college end of 2021 so after that she won’t ever have to see me again.! Life moves on. God bless

My ex was so insecure that control was the only thing they knew. I had no choice then to walk away because I was drained of my well-being. My needs were never met. It was all about them and their lies. It was exhausting. Every single point Craig and Barbers touched on here was present. I loved myself too much to stay any longer. It’s so important to love yourself. You’re no good for anyone if you’re not good to yourself first! I clearly attracted a bad person because I didn’t love myself enough in the beginning. It was a hard lesson, but an essential one. I’m grateful for the experience because now I know my value and will never give my power away to anyone who isn’t healthy enough in themself to value me back.

With all due respect, I, too, disagree with, "Whenever you're ready..."
From my perspective, those words are not self-love. They are self-hate. Where is the healthy boundary? Standard?
Giving them all the control and putting ourselves on ice for an indefinite amount of time at their convenience so they can cheat in peace while we sit and worry or get busier living our fullest life when they should be working on themselves and, hopefully, therefore, the relationship was bad advice.
The rest of the video was exceptional. The aforementioned blanket statement gives all our power away.
Time to negotiate and/or lay the terms and conditions down in a loving way for both parties not just setting up a dangerous, one-sided precedent.
      Thank you.
      Stay safe.
      God bless.

The thing about self love Margaret talked about I never really thought about it to much, but my parents sure to criticize me a lot growing up it always felt like more criticism then positivity. It’s not that they didn’t love me but that’s how they were raised but we don’t realize how damaging it is to your self esteem and view of your own value

This is my second day dealing with my break up, it is too sudden that I am not prepared ,I do not exactly know what to do. I cry every time I remember the good old days. You cannot imagine everything I have done for him. I took care of him from head to foot, in sickness and in health, I was there for him. I DID AND GAVE EVERYTHING to him... We planned the future together- our kids, home and the life we will have in the future... I am questioning my worth now...He said I was a very good woman, I am...His reasons to break up is that I have a gluey love, that I love too greatly (yes I did, I made him feel loved from head to foot)...That he wants a partnership without great feelings. I asked him why did he just broke up earlier of our relationship and not to pretend that he loved me for all this time??? I believed him with all my heart and soul, I felt like used, I felt like an object that after being exhausted will be thrown. I keep asking God, why it has to happen to me? I am totally down and lost, I dont know how to pick myself up from this brokenness. I begged him to give us a chance but he was determined to walk away. I am in no contact phase, it helps but I have the strong urge to message him every time and ask why again. I am so down... I did love myself before I met him, but I was blinded by my love for him that I did forget that.

I completely understand also talked about marriage, moving in together and even thought of names for our future kids. We were together for 3 years. He broke up with me a month ago saying he wasn't ready for any of that and I literally cried everyday up until today. I still love him but honestly it seems like he's moved on already and no longer loves me and it's strange because he was the one who broke up with me but he's been so cruel to me and ignores me. We work together but I am planning to move to a different location soon. I am slowly starting to tell myself I need to move on. And like you I still have no idea what to do, I love him so much and I'm confused on what happened. It's definitely not easy but everyday I try to think of something happy even if it's me waking up in the morning or seeing a beautiful flower. I hope the both of us are able to become happy again soon.

Tough when they have trauma and are more fearful avoidant. She felt she had to leave and at one time said we really comfort each other but trigger each other. Even when i tried to talk and understand she wouldn't so leaves me in the dark. So she left without even trying. I'm also learning the triggers are more about ourselves so it's unfair to put that on others especially without communicating with them.
I love her and hope she wants to reconcile. We had some life events that caused extra stress and would be unfortunate for us to leave each other's lives when we really enjoyed one another. Working on my issues to be better for myself and hopefully one day be her mountain.

The time we spent together was easy but he's always struggled opening up. He's had few examples of what a good relationship could be and/or the tools to work towards achieving a happy partnership. Instead he focused on work, saying he didn't know how to make time for us. I recognize his short comings but still I'm left feeling...why can't he see what a great catch he had in me. Maybe I'll find some comfort in other videos.

Hi Coach Craig and Margaret. I may say I am an anxious person. I was in a relationship with my ex gf (we are both Lesbians) where I became so toxic because I was too focused on my frustrations in life to the point that I neglected her needs and emotions, without considering that she is also going through something difficult. But honestly, I gave too much effort in our relationship and I do really love her, I care for her especially when she's sick, I cooked for, I help her out on doing things at home, I surprised her on special occasions, we even love going out on dates going road trips, etc. She broke up with me because I wasn't improving myself in terms of my anxiety. And I guess that was a wake up call. Now I am so desperate to work on myself but I loose a job and broke so I couldn't get a therapy, but I go to counseling that is being offered by our government for free, however it's only for 2 sessions. I started praying everyday consistently and surrendering to God everything I am going through. I started to write down all the bad attitudes and behaviours and tried controlling my emotions because I really want to change for her. I want to get her back. But I am too scared because she's a person who doesn't dwell on past relationships. When we broke up, she told me she still loves me but 2 weeks after I contacted her and she told me she's happy without me and doesn't love me anymore. I am really doing my best now to work on myself even without getting a therapy.

It's only been 2 weeks for me, so who am I to say. But I've been here before and in a bad way. I promised myself never to go there again.
He ended it out of the blue. It's hard because a break-up with a bf or gf is viewed differently from a divorce or a death and people are sympathetic for just so long. For us it's devastating. So these are the things that are helping me now and things I hadn't done before to help me keep moving forward:
*Feel sad, cry allow it to be okay
*Recognize that you will idealize them, and miss all the wonderful times
*BUT...then remind yourself of all the times you cried, the times they didn't give you what you need, when you were together but still felt alone
*Write a list of ALL the times they let you down and focus on those
*Stop giving them so much credit for the little you got instead of all you didn't get
*Read your list every time you pine for them
*Write all your great qualities down, and remember we are worth so much more and deserve someone who appreciates that in us
*Don't contact them, drive by where they live or visit...it only prolongs the healing
*Surround yourselves with people with love you
      *Stay busy
*Replace that Mobius strip, the one that plays over and over in your head about how you miss them how you wish it were different like I have so much to offer they're the ones missing out
*Put everything that reminds you of them away. I can't throw mine out yet
And be okay when you feel like shit but don't stay there for long.
We need to remain hopeful, know we are amazing and resilient...we will be okay in time. There has to be someone better for us. Right? Blessing my fellow broken hearted.
Oh...take advantage of the bonus weight loss (if ur like me a few lbs over weight). The next guy is gonna be lucky!

Im all alone , but i believe im mentally strong that’s why i can love myself , its been 3 months she dumped me for our 7years relationship , getting stronger everyday, I won’t let myself suffer for so long . There’s no time to wast , been training so hard and won my kickboxing title fight 2 weeks ago . Today i feel great because she is not the first person on my mind anymore when i wake up . Believe in yourself, love and respect yourself . U deserve better

That’s fun, I discovered your channel after a breakup (of course), but I’m staying for mental health advices. I’m considering getting a therapy, so well, thank you.

I don't think you should say whenever your ready because they think your just waiting for them. It's like a safety net it doesn't create loss at all. They have to think they may never see or hear from you again. That you are willing to walk away forever.

There was a girl I was totally taken with in 2020. I was so awesome towards her and she really was not good at all. Eventually she let me go but the strangest thing is the very next year 2013 onwards (last time was 2016), everytime she met someone that may possibly know me, she'd ask them to greet me. My one former classmate told me that this girl I liked asked that she greet me and she attempted to give me her number, but I refused to take it. 😂 Incredible message. Definitely works, whether they return (or eventually honour your requests) or not.

My ex walked away. And I do see why she did. I've been selfish. I want to change, I want to prove to her and myself that I can. How can I start this process?
