DP is my favourite track day destination. Fascinating watching the gains and losses on the brakes. Loving the content mate 💪🏼💪🏼

Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah I like Donington but it's not the one I'm best at. It's amazing when it's dry. I tend to prefer Cadwell or Anglesey for some reason 😁👍

@@SuggyRacing Anglesey is fantastic, it’s the 5 hour round trip that gets you 😆. Hopefully see you at one of the NL Rounds 👍

Hi. There's a few different ways you can race the cb 500. There's different clubs you race with, No Limits Racing, NG racing and EMRA. Have a look on their websites. Some race two days on a weekend and some only do one day at a weekend (EMRA).
I raced with No Limits this year as they do different tracks and two day weekend (4 races in total).
There's also Oliver's mount which is for road racing. But depends what you wanna do really. It's good fun but it's expensive too.
You'll also need an acu licence first, to be able to go on track and race 👍

@@SuggyRacing I’m looking at getting into this, when you say it’s expensive what would you say is a reasonable budget? Thanks

@@jamesmccormack9892 Hi James. So it's not expensive compared to other classes, that's for sure. But, it adds up. You don't need a fancy bike, you can pick up a race ready bike for about 1.5-2k and that would be a good one. Then the full seasons racing with No Limits is £2400 ( I believe). Then you've got maintenance of the bike, oil, tyres, anything that breaks and crash repair (which will definitely happen) tyres are about £220 for a set and last I would say 2-3 race weekends. So it's definitely manageable for cost. If you have a massive crash like I did, you could easily end up rebuilding an entire bike. Then you have petrol and diesel to the tracks, and probably the worst part is all the time off work. You'll need 3 days per race weekend. It's mega fun, but it does take up time. Hope that helps 👍

@@SuggyRacing Appreciate the reply 👍🏻 Would you recommend buying a race ready bike as opposed to buying a road bike and converting it? It looks like a lot of fun. I have been getting into trackdays for the last couple of years now and looking to give racing a go. I’ve not got a huge budget so this seems the most manageable way to give it a try 👍🏻

@@jamesmccormack9892 So my opinion is you won't get a better bike than building it yourself, what you learn on how to build it, and knowing your bike insdie out, is massively helpful. Especially if you have to fix something. There's a lot of 'bodged' CB500s out there. You wouldn't believe the state of some of them, death traps 😂
However, if you are up against it with time and budget, definitely buy one ready made. You can pick up decent ones, just need to look around at a few. They certainly don't need to be fancy. They all end up getting crashed. I really look after mine, and even still it gets scuffed and bumped. But that's racing I suppose.
Racing on these is mega fun, it's hard as everyone is on the same bike. So you have to ride the wheels off it. Takes practice, I'm not great but I enjoy it.

Yeah this one is a good one, it was rebuilt last year, so it pulls well. I would love to see how good it is, with one of the fast riders on it.
