Nice riding mate. What I think makes all the difference for me is the traffic on track days. I think I would need to do a race weekend to get the best times because every time I push on track days I come up against traffic. Then when im not pushing I find im on a clear lap. Its frustrating. My best is 1:59 officially but I feel ive got a 1:57 in me if I could get some clear laps
1:59 on a trackday is effing fast mate! Won’t find many people doing those sort of times I wouldn’t have thought. But your right, getting into the flow, ideally with a tow makes the lap time come so much easier!
haha thankyou! your the second person to ask today. I suspect something fishy going on! haha I will do a croft one first most probably. They take so much time to do. Cadwell would be good for the views but I didn't go particularly well there this year.

Finally got to do my first track day yesterday at Snetterton, your advice was golden 👍 I remembered most of it and kept both wheels on the track, had to use the coping once exiting turn three and nearly left the track at Oggies due to the old shit i'm not going to make it target fixation thing but caught myself doing it just in time👍 my fave parts were turn three then Brundle and Nelson I also really liked coming out of Coram and round Murrays, going back in two weeks for some more 😊 Thanx again
@@TommyFielding yes mate I had to put a baffle from a 600 ninja in my 911 blade, road legal pipe and lost a few HP so I've ordered an Akra baffle in the hope it won't affect the bike as much next time
Great video with clear tips. Heading thete on monday 8 April 2024. Doubtful to ne getting sub 2min laps but rrally hope to follow your lines and link transitions as smooth as you have. Thank you in advance 😁🤙
Ive watched and rewound this sooo many times, I almost feel like ive been round it👍 Me and the old Fireblade had a low side on a cold roundabout last Monday, snapped a few things off and left some paint behind, fixed (except the paint) and ridding by Friday. I don't bounce as well as I used to though🤣🤣🤣🤣 It says 1968 on my birth cert but I Identify as 21.
Wicked! Are you planning a trackday there? Road tyres are nothing in comparison to a set of wets on a more consistent surface. One problem with the road is all the tarmac is different and usually covered in crap/ fluids meaning it’s impossible to know how much grip is available. If it’s any consolation I ride like an absolute fairy on my road bike when it’s wet 🤣
Subbed 👍 that was some great advice. Just got a Blade to take there next April for my first legal racing lol, been ridding it on the road but its tuned for the track and we both can't wait😊
I will be studying this before my visit later this year. I really want to crack the 2m currently 2m07 and only been 3 times so I feel I've got a chance. Thank you.
It’s always just a case of taking little bits at a time. Snetterton is quite low grip but feels fine when the weather is ok. I think getting under 2m on a trackday will be difficult due to traffic etc but best of luck with it. Let me know how you get on :)
Did you manage it yet, ive only ridden it once as a novice and I guestimated it took me abought a very long time🤣🤣hope your still having fun, Best wishes👍
@cabbage681 I started racing this year and snett was out first track. I managed a 2m01. And bagged a best of 3rd place in No Limits 1000cc Newcomers. So I have unfinished business. The video really helped though so study it for the best lines and you'll soon knock off several seconds. Good luck. 👍
Great video!! I also have an R6 (2010) which is fairly stock (apart from the slip-on) and wondered what you’ve done to yours to improve performance? Im barely hitting 130mph on the back straight and can see you’re 20mph+ above that! My best lap time at Snet is 2:24 and I’m definitely losing time on the 2 x straights. Any help/advice would be appreciated. 2:24 lap is on my RUclips. 🙌🏼
Hey! Sorry for the slow reply.....sometimes I don't get notifications. A lot of the speed is gained on corner exit and getting your bum back on the seat to really tuck in. This bike isn't a stock engine and makes 131.5bhp at the tyre. There are quite a lot of modifications over a standard bike but fairly run of the mill for a race bike. I would imagine I have around 15bhp more, 10 of those probably come from supporting mods such as a full titanium system, light generator, kit bell mouths and a tune. The other small percentage comes from a bit of head work and properly dialling in the cams. Glad you enjoyed the video, please consider subscribing :) Thanks
Top video tommy 💪.. Serious clippin along that... Helped me immerusably as ill be there in a few weeks time with bemsee.. Rookie 600's.. Hopefully better weather than you nlr boys experienced 🫣👍👍.. Keep up the good work

Would be good if you could do a video like this for some of the kart tracks if your doing any of the BMB rounds this year. Maybe see you in the paddock this year. Cheers Mat
@@TommyFielding no, I’m going to do no limits for the first half of the year as can’t do many more due to holidays and stag do’s getting in the way, so the plan is to get out on the pit bike as the calendar works better. Tommy, great video mate, just out of interest, what gear are you taking the left handed after the back straight in, 3rd or 4th, I can’t hear what you’re dropping into there mate?? Your videos are excellent buddy

Hey, really found this video helpful. I’ll be doing my first track day end of April at snetterton (on my 13s) Silly question but what’s a good set up to start with for tire pressures? Thanks in advance More of these videos would be great help!!
Great video with loads of tips. Tell me about T3, my bogey corner, I can never enter it right, I’ve ran on several times and low sided there as well. I’m on a V4, I’ve tried entering in 3rd or 2nd but it never feels right. I notice you don’t brake into it?
Hi, thanks for the comment, sorry for the slow response. Turn 3 is a bit tricky, try not to panic about your approach speed. You can brake into here but try not to change the pitch of the bike. Nice wide entry and just let her roll in, this will scrub off speed as you move in on the apex which is a good chunk of the way around. I use 3rd but I would imagine it's a 2nd gear corner on a big bike, the extra engine brake will help slow down the bike too!
@@TommyFielding Well I went in hot, 2nd lap. Cold day. Tipped in on the brakes, got halfway across the track, released the brake, front let go, next thing I’m sliding across the grass watching the bike bouncing along, praying it doesn’t flip over😂. Both ok apart from the usual clipon, peg, gear selector.
Just get yourself out in the novice group, take it easy and enjoy yourself. Good your doing some research here though so you actually know what way the track goes.
Good grief! Sub-2 minutes around Snetterton on an R6. I'm riding one of those and can get nowhere near that! Much respect and duly subscribed! It would be great if you could add commentary on your breaking and tipping in reference points - that would make a brilliant video even better.
