Thanks for putting this on I tend to watch a lot of your videos keep putting them on all the best from ENGLAND
Thank you
Thank you inspired me to finally use the two extra phones I had got for this project set up on my vehicle ❤
I am happy to hear that. I hope you like my newer videos.
Thank you for this. This is awesome!
Thank you
Important FYI: Using this 365 will DESTROY your old phone's battery (which is already old). Do not do this on any "backup" phone that you plan to use as a real phone. Obviously just using the app when you're on vacation or whatever is not the same thing.
If you think you need that phone, just spend the money on a cheap motion camera--definitely cheaper than replacing a phone battery and less hassle.
But a lot of people have an old phone they don't care about, so this is a great solution, I just don't want anyone to ruin a useful phone unknowingly.
For example, when you travel you should always have a working spare phone. That's a great reason to save a backup. Obviously if you can't afford a new phone and are prone to breaking yours you should not ruin your backup, either.
Thank you so much for sharing this crucial information! Your insights about the impact of using the security app on an old phone's battery are incredibly valuable. It's evident that you genuinely care about helping others make informed decisions regarding their devices.
Your suggestion of using a cheap motion camera as an alternative is both practical and cost-effective. Your consideration for those who may have limited resources and want to keep their backup phones in good condition is commendable.
In a world where technology can sometimes be overwhelming, your advice simplifies things and encourages responsible device usage. It's clear that you're looking out for the well-being of the community. Thank you for your thoughtful and informative message! 🙌📱😊
How will using this App "DESTROY your old phone's battery", since all one has to do is use a charger that has the amps matched to the usage. For example if the phone uses 1wh, then use a charger that has 0.2A (5V charger x 0.2A = 1W/h)
@@JDMumma Did that and after 5 or 6 months almost burnt my house down. Battery was like a balloon and catch fire. Charging circuit loads the battery where phone is taking current from, so the cells are being used anyway. Only safe way to use phones long term for this usage is to supply power through battery connectors for example like 3,7V 1,5A and remove the battery completely...
While this app is still free, they changed it. Before, even with the free account, it would save videos to the cloud. That way if someone broke in and took the phone, you could still pull up the videos from the cloud. Not so anymore. If you are only using the free account, the videos are stored on the phone you are using and not the cloud, so if someone steals the phone, they take the video evidence with them. You now have to pay to have videos stored on the cloud.
true.. Thank you for the info.
$30 per year which is a small fraction of a professional security system . Not shilling for them but they do need some money
I've been using Alfred for 6 years. I just deactivated my account today
Right now I'm taking care of my parents so aside from the cameras I also setup intercoms inside using mumble , some basic notifications.. I'm going for as close to a granny pod as possible
Yes, these can work like that. I do have other videos showing other options as well.
As someone in IT, how secure is this? It uses your Google account.
Have you heard of anybody hacking this app? To see the inside of your house?
With the support of top-tier cybersecurity mechanisms- W3C, Google, Android, and Amazon- Alfred is equipped with the most advanced protection.
Missing features:
1) Support max resolution of phones cameras (both front and back)
2) Zoom control (when phone has optical zoom)
3) Face and plate detection (so notifications are sent only when unknown people or cars are detected)
True. The resolution is low, but I was using older phones.
The zoom feature would be great.
face / plate detections would be awesome.
They may have these features if your phone supports them, please contact them , here:

Yes, you get all these bells and whistles if you are willing to pay Alfred Premium
Yes. mines is stopped showing videos unless I go for premium. 🙁@@skamravec
Great video. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Very nice! Thanks!
I am happy you liked it. Thank you.
I wouldn't take an Apple phone if you gave it to me, but I do have a Nexus 6 with a custom ROM on it, and 2-1 + 1, an a Galaxy Note 5, which one do you think would be my best choice, for my front door security, Galaxy Note 5, that's a question if you're not busy.
You may wish to give it a try. I used Android phones with this app.
does this app work (ie record activities) when there is no wifi ?
also does this have a loop recording feature that automatically records and deletes data?
It needs Wifi or a connection to the Internet. The pro version has many more options.
Wow!!
Thank you
So, I have very rude neighbors & their kids are the worst! I'm wondering if this set up would be good for setting up old phones in my windows.. instead of getting video doorbells for front & back. Does facing them to look out the windows make it so motion detection doesn't work? Does having both phones on my wifi use a lot of bandwidth? I don't want it to have to be either the phones or the tv, rather than all of them at the same time. Also, one window gets direct sunlight for several hours in warmer months, will the sunlight affect the video quality?
Thank you!
As far as video quality, that depends on the phones you use. I made many videos on this topic , showing how well my older phones worked. Normally, having the camera face direct sunlight is not good at all for video quality. I hope your neighbors stop being rude.
Thank you for the questions.
I checked the Google Play Store, and there are some apps with similar names, but none with that exact name, and nothing from Alfred Labs.
Let me check.. I found it with the words .. "alfred security camera app free" It is in the Android Play Story. But not in the Google Web Store. It is for your phone.
I need something like this system. However, I haven't had much success to know what environment I need for it to work.
MY SITUATION: I need to monitor my vacant house in California but I live in Texas. The house in California has no WiFi but my smartphone works when I am there.
QUESTIONS:
1. Can the camera in California communicate with my smartphone when in Texas?
2. If so, do I have to put every camera-phone on my cellphone account? (I use Google FI, which is not free)?
3. Is there an app that can be installed on my computer that can receive the video/sound from the camera-phone? (If so, where do I get it?)
4. Can the camera-phone upload the video to a place I choose on the Internet? (For example can it upload to my Google Drive?
5. If it can upload, can it delete the videos to make more room for new videos?
If anybody has any answers to these questions, I'd love to hear about it.
Peace!
1. Can the camera in California communicate with my smartphone when in Texas?
Yes.
2. If so, do I have to put every camera-phone on my cellphone account? (I use Google FI, which is not free)?
No, but they need to connect to wifi or the internet somehow.
3. Is there an app that can be installed on my computer that can receive the video/sound from the camera-phone? (If so, where do I get it?)
This is the app. Alfred. You can view the footage from the phone via their web site and your private account with them
4. Can the camera-phone upload the video to a place I choose on the Internet? (For example can it upload to my Google Drive?
Yes, you can download and save file locally , then upload them to your Google drive
5. If it can upload, can it delete the videos to make more room for new videos? yes
If anybody has any answers to these questions, I'd love to hear about it.
Ive been looking for a home security system solution for checking on the house from overseas. Is this possibly the best solution?
This is how I used it, yes.
nice one!
Thank you
The phone viewer is very basic. You have to upgrade for an annual fee, but you have no way of seeing if the upgrade is any good till after you pay for it a week free trial would help , I would like to see what I am getting for my money
I have newer videos on products that without a subscription and do not need to be wired, as the security cams are solar powered, as seen here:

I turned couple of old phones into security cameras, using Alfred home security app. My concern though is, how safe it is to keep the phones/cameras being charged 24/7 without risking that battery might catch on fire while you are away from home
I understand your concern about keeping them charged constantly. While modern smartphones are designed with safety features to prevent such incidents, it's always good to take precautions.
Here are a few tips to ensure the safety of your setup:
1. **Use Original Chargers:** Stick to the original chargers or reputable brands to minimize the risk of overheating.
2. **Well-Ventilated Areas:** Ensure that the phones are placed in well-ventilated areas to dissipate any heat generated during charging.
3. **Check Battery Health:** Periodically check the battery health of the phones. If a battery is degrading rapidly, consider replacing it.
4. **Temperature Consideration:** Avoid exposing the phones to extreme temperatures, as both charging and discharging generate heat.
5. **Power Strips with Surge Protection:** Consider using power strips with surge protection to safeguard against electrical surges.
6. **Regular Inspections:** Periodically inspect the phones for any signs of overheating, and if you notice anything unusual, it's wise to temporarily disconnect them.
Remember, while charging does generate some heat, the risks are generally low, especially with well-maintained, modern devices. If you're still concerned, you might consider using a smart plug with a timer to schedule charging cycles.
Stay tech-savvy and safe!

Any other app you suggest?
this app dosent support samsung s23ulra
Oh wow. Are you 100% sure on that? I just looked up the Samsung S23 ultra, and it seems like a good match.
Connecting this to a charger 24x7 made the battery to swell up. I ended up removing it and using Great Scott's guide. My problem is how do I turn it back on, after power cuts which is very common here.
Ouch. I am sorry to hear that. About restarting the app when the phone starts, open Settings and go to the Application Manager. It should be in "Installed Apps" or "Applications," depending on your device. Select an app from the list of downloaded apps and turn the Autostart option on or off.
@@selmateacher7 i m taking about restarting the phone. How do I made sure the phone starts automatically on powercuts?
No free version . motion detection video open only premium perches not a Play
ouch. They must have change things recently. Very sad.
✨
Thank you
How to do it all channel show this info, it is great info.
Thank you. After Setting up the Alfred account, you may then log into that account from other devices to view the security videos.
It definitely works very well, I have used this successfully.
Is there a way to connect devices and cameras on wifi without being connected to the internet?
Sorry, No, security cameras that rely on WiFi to function need an internet connection in order to transmit footage or images. Without internet access, the cameras will not be able to transmit their footage, and you will not be able to view it remotely.
@@selmateacher7 Thanks for such a fast reply. Looks like a stand alone baby monitor and viewer will have to do. Was hoping to find some camera's that would work on a LAN using a home wifi unit.
What do you mean I good working camera? I'm not understanding
I mean a phone with a good working camera.
Will it work with the screen not turned on?
yes
Is there an app like this where you don't have to have wifi connection
Do you mean for the phone to just record and save the videos on the phone, like a trail cam? Yes! You may goto the play store and do a search for "trail cam" There are many apps that record and save the video on the phone without Wifi needed ( after setting up the app)
@@selmateacher7 ok thanks . I live in a very small town in Texas where they have to pipe sunshine in so wifi is rare
@@user-ix1be4ut2b LOL. I would use the trail cam phone app that works, "offline" I found a few at the Google or Play app store that are free and work offline.
27 February.2024 - Free version has limits to low video quality, No Zoom. Premium is 5 euro per month. Is it worth it?.. I don't think so. Test it for yourself.
I use the free version.
Is this app free, or is it a subscription based app?
The video and what I use are both the free versions of this app.
@@selmateacher7 amazing, thank you so much for sharing.
@@selmateacher7 not anymore. You can't see the playback for free
Alfred sucks now, as of the last couple of weeks... Do you have any other suggestions?
yes, I made a new video of a security cam that works well. ruclips.net/video/wy_MYgKaFlE/видео.html
@@selmateacher7 Thanks, I'll take a look... I meant a free service that uses a cell phone as a security cam similar to Alfred.
Music is a distraction
