I’m still surprised that Ghibli didn’t team up with Disney to bring their movies into the parks (Tokyo or otherwise), but in hindsight, only Studio Ghibli themselves could make a Ghibli theme park (especially one that emphasizes the “park” part of “theme park”).
I reckon maybe a decade ago it could have happened, but Disney these days is only interested in pushing their own products. Ghibli's best option now would be somebody like Universal who are still happy to take on other brands such as Nintendo, Pokemon and Harry Potter.
@@ReviewTymeHayao Miyazaki has made it clear he wants nothing to do with Bob Iger and Disney (even though the deal would really be cut with the Oriental Land Company). Plus, times have changed; Japanese companies don’t need Western partnerships anymore.
I went to the museum last time I went to Japan and absolutely loved it. I wasn't sure I wanted to make the trip to the park next time I go to Japan but you guys kinda sold me on it with your video! ❤
The sense of discovery you described in the Witches House feels a lot like my reaction to OmegaMart, specifically the feeling of being able to comb through files, binders, desks, notes and etc. and not having any of that stuff bolted down.
You made a great point, about how the culture returns things to it spot. It’s interesting how Universal Osaka vs Hollywood Mario Kart Que is an example of how different the culture is.
I've heard it's incredible! It was literally next on my list and I had it downloaded on a streaming platform, but when I hopped countries the localisation changed and it was no longer available to me. :( - Dom
How have you never seen Princess Mononoke? That movie is like a Ghibli staple and one of the best films they've made. It's sad that the Park couldn't capture beauty of it because it would've been amazing if they created a moss covered forest floor with statues of the spirits that are in the film.
The Princess Mononoke area definitely could've more attractions from other Ghibli movies. The mostly empty garden is beautiful and can display some buildings and sculptures from The tale of princess Kaguya and My Neighbor Totoro. If they decide to build another area it should be placed right in the middle of the 20 minute walk, trying to hide the long distance.
I love how much Mononoke Village looked like a Japanese village in the countryside of Japan it was quite beautiful heck i just love the countryside of alot parts of the world especially the United Kingdom's countryside, Scotland's countryside, and Ireland's countryside all three of those are so beautiful oh yeah and my favorite Ghibli movie is spirited away which btw i first saw as a child and loved it immediately
It's funny that you called out that one house as only being in the first few minutes of its movie, because the Princess Mononoke section is also focused around the first ~15 minutes of the film. They definitely could have done more with that area. I'm not really a Ghibli fan myself, but of those films that I've seen, I enjoyed Princess Mononoke the most. It's tonally different from many other Ghibli movies (darker and more serious/mature), which may account for the lower rating.
Some of their shops are bizarrely detailed too. For every standard storefront in an Aeon, there’s a quirky Ghibli (Acorn-Whatever-It’s-Called) store like the open-air one in Kyoto.
There are plenty of places in the states to make a Studio Ghibli Park but it would not be as interactive as the one in Japan because of the thievery ( everything would have to be nailed down ) . But if they did join up with Universal, that would be a Dream come true. Universal with its impressive attention to detail with themes like Harry Potter , Nintendo and all the other companies in Epic Universe. I wish it would come here , so fingers crossed 🤞. 😊
Understanding the meaning of words seems like a crucial part of successfully existing on this planet at this time. I feel like people here theme park and they hear amusement park but ‘theme parks have a central theme that's more intricately designed than the themed areas of amusement parks’. like I don’t know it’s literally in the title… - No hate whatsoever to the video - my frustration lies with the masses 😂
What a missed opportunity! But Miyazaki ,besides being a story telling genius, is a curmudgeon, hearing him talk is so depressing! Ghibli should have bought 'Huis Ten Bosch' *in Nagasaki (it was on sale) and fit it for Ghibli themes, easy fit.
We did! We went the day before Ghibli there but unfortunately we got rained out for most of our day. Thankfully we got a ride in on Hakugei and Steel Dragon before the rain set in!

I have a feeling it was an offer but they talked to the henson family and decided it was a bad idea.

You can hire the imagineers if you have enough money
Considering current Disney, I am so glad they didn't!!!!

It reminds me of Sprookjesbos in The Efteling. Almost no rides and all atmospheer and walktrouhgs

OmegaMart is right at the top of things we want to experience, glad to hear it gives off a similar experience to here!
I smell a Fantasy Springs vid coming up! you guys are going to love it, i hope you guys have a vacation package for TDR

For goodness sake, WATCH PRINCESS MONONOKE!
Its universally in the top 3 Ghibli films.
You went to a studio ghibli park without seeing princess mononoke? That's the star wars of japan, it's the best one, et cetera et cetera

If you are going to Nagoya I highly recommend checking out Meiji-Mura as well.
Try efteling if we talk about theming.
3:32 it's a maglev, the LIM type with no wheels (JR's chuo shinkansen uses an LSM maglev with supercooled magnets and landing gear wheels)

I don't know what that means, but he is a bit of a downer
It's a hot take but I feel like we could have had the immersive environments and rides the lack of rides honestly puts me off
I think it will the long time viability of the park interesting. There’s only so many times you can look at something.
ReviewTyme can do you a video about California's VR Station .
We haven't heard of it, but can definitely look into it! Cheers for the suggestion.

You really switched between 'jee-bli' and 'ghee-bli' pronunciation, didn't you?
new efteling ride vid please.
Ghibli is pronounced with italian spelling rules (hard g)
I was cringing so hard every time they say “GIBLI” 😭
There’s an H ffs, pronounce it!!!
Miyazaki himself said that it's a made-up word, and actually, it's a half between the 2 pronunciations. In Japan, it's more like Jih-bur-ee
Anything "Marnie" related?
Sir! Please immediately stop what you are doing and go watch Mononoke! The best Ghibli film!!!
I'm team kiki
The park rhats impossiblvle to grt tickets too
I'm sorry, the park's "weenie"?
Disney lingo for “landmark”
A weenie is like a big landmark that draws your attention and also helps you navigate - eg tree of life, Cinderella’s castle etc
Bro is hungry. He's talking about a hotdog.
This park is definitely not for YOU

That's why reviews are important so people can see perspectives. If everyone has the same opinion, we wouldn't need different reviews
