Colossos used to have crazy ejector when it opened early 2000's. Every hill you could hear those upstops so loudly, it was pure bliss... The trims they added afterwards just circumcised it completely, sadly....

Regarding Colossos: Colossos was faster before the rebuild. When it originally opened it was a lot faster than calculated before, and I guess that was one factor in they early need for a complete rebuild. This knowledge and the findings after the track failed needing it to be replaced surely informed the choices for the rebuild, trading speed for longevity. El Toro has proven more than once that its track is not in a good shape and could do with a rebuild with the new improved track style if there is a want to keep it alive for longer. Balder got its track already replaced, T-Express too, in a way, El Toro is way overdue after the incidents of the past.
Honestly I’m kinda both equally interested in Colossos and El Toro, for Colossos mainly because of the theming with the BIG TREE FELLA and the rides size and El Toro just looks like it’s really fast and looks like it has lots of twists, I’m sorta equally interested in both of them. That’s my talk about possibly future coaster plans over now. I’m still interested in T-Express the most since it looks awesome and crazy as well as being in a at Everland which looks like a gorgeous and beautiful theme park. Love these vlog episodes. 🙋♀️✌️
the thing with colossos is that before the re-tracking the coaster had the old heavy trains like balder at liseberg and the only 2 trims the coaster had back then compared to the 6 trims now were NEVER in use back then ... colossos used to fly over the hills like el toro back then ( which i had the luck to ride last year best wooden coaster i've ridden so far ) and i was amazed just how the first half of el toro immidiatly reminded me about how colossos used to be ! it was nearly an identical experience just alone from the airtime ! greetings from one of the ex teamleaders of both the old and new colossos :)
I’ve only been to Heide Park once, and I happened to go on a pretty quiet day. Honestly, though, every attraction there is just missing that certain something, you know? With some more investment, the park could be amazing. The free-fall ride was a blast! But aside from Colossus, there really wasn’t any other roller coaster I enjoyed. Your criticism is totally on point, and I hope the park’s manager sees this video! 😊

I’m curious as to what the local perception of Heide Park is like compared to some of the other big German parks. Merlin get away with their corner cutting here in the UK as there’s no better alternative, but with the likes of Europa and Phantasialand competing at a national level, makes me wonder what sort of rep it has comparatively.
as a german enthusiast: It has a cheap reputation. This park cuts corners everywhere. Opening and closing times, when lines are being closed, general operations are ASS, esp. in comparison to Europa Park or Phantasialand and even Hansa Park (which doesn't have high throughput coasters to begin with), the scenery is also cheapo McCheapy and the whole park is generally just not... cared for. The staff is also obviously underpaid, because nobody has such a shitty mood for no reason, and saying this as a german who often times are being labelled as being "cold", esp. to americans, this is noticeable for locals here as well. The biggest thing making it a major outlier is the IPs everywhere. It's very unusual in europe in general, since most parks are usually family run or in some form of small company run, meaning no major conglomerates like Merlin, Six Flags or what not. Basically it's a fine park, but I went exactly ONCE there and will only return when they get a new coaster I care about, because there is nothing special about it to come back to. Hansa Park is also a huge competitor imo and isn't further away if you are ever visiting Hamburg (both parks are reachable by train in about 1 1/2 hours). Pretty much most of the criticism they mention in their video applies, but it gets amplified by comparison to the other german/netherlands/belgian/french parks in the "vicinity" (in terms of visitors). Sadly this park had a great life ahead of it, being opened by a friend of the Mack family, hence so many attractions are Mack Rides from earlier times, but sadly he died suddenly and it went downhill from there.

Everything was still only running 1 train operations and dispatching took way too long, esp. in comparison to all other parks in germany. 30-40min wait times on a day where most connecting roads were rather empty is just terrible operations. I assume this happens due to cost cutting reasons, but it just feels bad. Hansa Park has good operations, but low throughput rides. The wait times are long there too, but the reasons are different imo. We might just disagree on this tho and that's fine. :)
Colossos is kinda bittersweet for me. I grew up close to the park and since the retrack I still love it but I miss the crazy ejector airtime it had before.
Well, at Phantasialand, we have the closing times for attractions on the monitors and in the app and people still are so confused when Crazy Bats closes early five times a week for Fantissima.

Just compare the coaster line-up of Heide Park, Europa Park and Phantasialand back in 2001: Heide Park just opened Colossos, the largest wooden coaster in the world and the second highest wood/steel in europe. It already had an SLC, Big Loop and the Bobsled. Europa Parks biggest attracktion was Poseidon and Euro Mir. And in Phantasialand two rollercoasters burned down that year, leaving it with just two coasters (Colorado Adventure and Temple of the Night Hawk). After that, Heide Park still got some "Fist in Germany"-Attractions, but all of them feel like they are the cheapest options Heide Park coud buy. Just compare Krake (first dive-coaster) and Flug der Dämonen (first wing coaster) to Taron (first multi-launch) and F.L.Y. (first flying coaster) and it should be clear what I mean. I personally also don't like the general "Helloween"-theming, I liked Heide Park better when it was clean and tidy like a park of a castle with attractions. But Collosos will probably be my most favorite coaster as long as it operates (maybe a little bit of nostalgia).
Colossos has after the retracking 4 trimmbrakes, the first one on the first drop. This ist why it has so much softer airtime than before the retrack or El Torro. This is also the reason why the helis does nothing. The coaster was planned with much higer speeds in mind.

Some people claim that the ride felt more intense until 2016, i.e. before the retracking, and that Heide Park may have reduced the speed of the ride to reduce wear and tear on the coaster. Colossos after retracking has become soft. Between 2003 (I think?) and 2016, it was quite a lot faster. And from 2001 til the trim brakes installment, it was *insane!* Kind of like an Intimidator 305 moment with this coaster 😂
I made a list of some parks you should/could go to for next seasons coastin thu europe. I did this by putting all the coasters you missed at parks you've been to, new rides at parks you've been to, new parks for you that look good and some parks you already enjoyed nearby (and probably a bit of my bias with some of these). Here are my 20 I picked out in a rough order. Linnanmaki, sarkanniemi amusement park?, powerpark, wonder island, drievliet family park, walibi holland, efteling, toverland, walibi belgium, plopsaland de panne, walibi rhone-alps, garda land, mirabilandia, fantasiana, wiener prater, energylandia, legendia?, land of legends, korsan adasi, vialand. Bear in mind that I am expecting all the new for 2025 coasters to be open when you go so maybe if you go and some rides aren't open that would change things. Did I miss anything big?
The Park is my home Park and the Park really laks in quantity of quality I would say. Some of the Coasters feel like they are just there to be that one trick coaster to say here is germanys first or europes first this and that. It is sad that the day you were there it was really rainy (it is often in this part of germany but it is still sad) because i have felt like Colossos runs way faster when the sun is shining. When its warm you can feel the trim hit right before the helix. Before the retrack it seemed to go faster (at least it sounded so I was too young to ride it back then). Flug der Dämonen, Desert Race and Colossos also really warm up as the day goes on. But still like i said the Park is big but really lacks the quality it feels more like quantity so it is clearly no comparison to the Phantasialand or Europa Park. Also it lacks of its charme it had before Merlin took over. But Iam glad you visited and had a good time.
One thing I don't like about Heide Park are their age restriction on most of the big rollercoaster rides. They don't have them as strict in other parks. My son is 9 years old and crazy about wild rollercoasters (And a big fan of your channel too). He is allowed to ride Kärnan, Novgorod etc in Hansa Park and Voltron, Blue Fire and Wodan in Europa Park. But he is not allowed to ride Colossos, Krake, Desert Race, Toxic Garden and Flug der Dämonen in Heide Park. That is pretty weird in my opinion. And also the How to Train your Dragon boat ride in Heide Park is so lame, and could have been done so much better.
(If this question has been asked before, you can ignore it) Out of the Intamin pre-fabricated wooden coasters (Colossos, T-Express, Balder and El Toro); how would you rank them best to worst?
It's such a shame that the airtime at Colossos is so poor at the altitude. I rode the train for the first time last summer and was very disappointed, especially because many people rank the train in the top 5 in Germany. The trims have to go and then it could be nice, but the way it is now, it's far too weak for me personally. After all, Colossos looks impressive.
okay i guess y'all got a very bad ride on FdD, front or back on the right when it's warmed up can be deceptively whippy, and of course it's not super aggressive, but it can give a very good ride imo edit: also i wanna make my case for desert race, sure it's a clone of rita, but the profiling is slightly improved, sure it's very short, but when it's warmed up (and imo it really does need to warm up) it's a great mix of speed, whip, ejector, and even strong positives. it may be only like 20 seconds, but they can be 20 seconds of pure adrenaline imo
Sadly the wing coaster did ride on one train the whole summer long as well as desert race. The park is really struggling with staffing at the moment and they’re way understaffed.
Went to this park almost every year. Wonder how you think of it. Altough i think the park isnt the best(phantasialand just spoiled me with the themeing and everything else) its still good for thrill seekers with krake, Colossus, flug der dämonen, desert race and the most intense INDIE BLITZ But seriously indie blitz and another smaller coaster at a small park prob shaped my entire love for rollercoasters. So yes I became a enthusiast because of a racist coaster Anyways hope u enjoyed the parks of my country

I think this was the most disappointing park in Germany (or maybe of all the parks I did in Europe). I only left Movie Park feeling more disappointed. Operations are very 'Merlin'-like. Taking off a train to have long queues, to sell more fast tracks, ... stuff like that. No real standouts, like you all mention. I only live a couple of hours away and I wouldn't go back soon.
Heide Park is a good park for people who have nothing to compare against. Allthough they have a good collection of rides theres no ride that delivers 100%. Everything average. I always leave this park slightly disappointed and bored. I think the Bob is my fav at HP. Visually the park is a little bit above average. Totally agree to Taylor´s statement. Things look better than they are.

Heide Park always has been a family only themepark it it shows. The rides are not bad, but they are also not outstanding by most standards.

My son is 9 years old and crazy about wild rollercoasters (And a big fan of your channel too). He is allowed to ride Kärnan, Novgorod etc in Hansa Park and Voltron, Blue Fire and Wodan in Europa Park. But he is not allowed to ride Colossos, Krake, Desert Race, Toxic Garden and Flug der Dämonen in Heide Park. That is pretty weird in my opinion.
And also the How to Train your Dragon boat ride in Heide Park is so lame, and could have been done so much better.

Out of the Intamin pre-fabricated wooden coasters (Colossos, T-Express, Balder and El Toro); how would you rank them best to worst?

It's such a shame that the airtime at Colossos is so poor at the altitude.
I rode the train for the first time last summer and was very disappointed, especially because many people rank the train in the top 5 in Germany.
The trims have to go and then it could be nice, but the way it is now, it's far too weak for me personally.
After all, Colossos looks impressive.

okay i guess y'all got a very bad ride on FdD, front or back on the right when it's warmed up can be deceptively whippy, and of course it's not super aggressive, but it can give a very good ride imo
edit: also i wanna make my case for desert race, sure it's a clone of rita, but the profiling is slightly improved, sure it's very short, but when it's warmed up (and imo it really does need to warm up) it's a great mix of speed, whip, ejector, and even strong positives. it may be only like 20 seconds, but they can be 20 seconds of pure adrenaline imo

We have not!
Sadly the wing coaster did ride on one train the whole summer long as well as desert race. The park is really struggling with staffing at the moment and they’re way understaffed.
The wingcoaster always had 2 trains operating.
@ they have two trains but almost never used both during this season. Even when the park was packed they run one train

Went to this park almost every year. Wonder how you think of it. Altough i think the park isnt the best(phantasialand just spoiled me with the themeing and everything else) its still good for thrill seekers with krake, Colossus, flug der dämonen, desert race and the most intense

I think this was the most disappointing park in Germany (or maybe of all the parks I did in Europe). I only left Movie Park feeling more disappointed. Operations are very 'Merlin'-like. Taking off a train to have long queues, to sell more fast tracks, ... stuff like that. No real standouts, like you all mention. I only live a couple of hours away and I wouldn't go back soon.
Torture theme for SLC - Sarah
Heide Park is a good park for people who have nothing to compare against. Allthough they have a good collection of rides theres no ride that delivers 100%. Everything average. I always leave this park slightly disappointed and bored. I think the Bob is my fav at HP. Visually the park is a little bit above average. Totally agree to Taylor´s statement. Things look better than they are.
