- After a decade-long hiatus, the warped Batman's twisted and evil parody, Nemesis, is back in a completely new story from co-creator Mark Millar. The most experienced supervillain is set to embark on his deadliest campaign yet, with Batman illustrator Jorge Jiménez priming for his comeback. Nemesis premiered in 2010 as a component of Marvel's creator-owned label, Icon Comics, as a four-issue miniseries. The tale of Nemesis, a powerful supervillain who utilizes his great money and tactical intelligence to battle some of the planet's most respected police officers, was told in the graphic novel by Millar and illustrator Steve McNiven. When Mark Millar developed this character, he wanted to create a hybrid of Batman and Batman's deadliest adversary, the Joker. Imagine somebody like Batman, who has all of Bruce Wayne's money and influence, but instead of safeguarding Gotham, he is one of the criminals pursued by the Dark Knight. You also don't have to think too hard about it. You can, in fact, read it. Nemesis is actually one of the many comics written by Mark Millar throughout the course of his career. For years, there has been chatter of adapting this storyline on the big screen, imagining what might happen if Batman played El Joker. In the series featuring Nemesis, an American cop rises to the villainous Batman-like character's call and participates in a fatal game of cat-and-mouse with the incredibly careful criminal. The series was poorly received for its excessive use of violence and contentious storyline.

I can’t wait to see the live action adaptation of Nemesis. The comic was fantastic and I love the role reversal of having a quote unquote evil Batman. So whoever wants to know what would Batman be like if he was a super calculative evil genius then you need to read Nemesis. Before Netflix bought Mark Millars entire Comic IP, Universal or Paramount Studios were going to make a live action adaption of Nemesis. I just hope Netflix really go the extra mile and give us a true brutal adaption of the source material.

It puts me in mind of the comic called irredeemable, with the dark villainous character called the plutonian that is similar to Superman, and if this does get a movie I think it will end up like how Brightburn was received and heavily criticized.
When I read the comic I thought the story was insane and Nemesis being basically and evil Batman but he has his own twist is awesome I hope he gets a movie or series in the future. He is very sick and I haven't seen any evil Batman archetypes in anything cinematic wise or tv wise.

Can’t say “Nemesis” is original. There is Grendel who is very similar to Nemesis.
And there was a character called Nemesis in Batman comics.
There's also Prometheus and Owlman
Grendel is totally different. Less edgy and more sophisticated. Also no one ever brings up the fact that Batman was created by means of plagerism.

This series when it came out was one of the BEST I had ever read. It was SO GOOD and different from anythinh at that time. It made the Authority look like 80s Spider Man.
I enjoyed Nemesis up until halfway through the story. I can understand where they were going for but some of the plans were a bit too complex to work as perfectly as they did and especially about the ending, about this mysterious entity knew how it all would end, was a bit jarring. I like it that his plans were a bit over-the-top in the beginning but the further in the story, the harder it was to accept his luck. Also, I'm not so sure how I feel about the reveal that Nemesis was just a bored rich kid and the other bloke had died years ago in a whorehouse... It feels a lot like a twist for the sake of a twist.
Now, I am interesting in seeing this in Live-Action (film or mini-series) with a few tweaks (especially in the second half of the story). It would be a dark and gritty super hero story and something different from everything marvel and DC are currently doing.

His new origin is that he was a kid who’s parents were framed as serial killers by “Hero cops” and put to death. He runs away and is found by a cult. They train him like Batman and then his final mission is to retrieve an item that explains the “lost history” of the world. He finds a “SuperHero Cape” and is told that the Villains took over the world in the past and wiped everyone’s memory of super powered beings and a time in history is lost from peoples minds. It is then revealed the “cult” is actually “The Fraternity” from WANTED

Nemesis' fake origin story (him becoming a super-villain after his parents were arrested) reminds me of Batman villain the Wrath (whose parents got shot and killed by commisioner Gordon when he was still a rookie cop).
