@@MartinaMarchetti-gc6bj will go one of two ways, it could completely revitalise the comic movie scene or it could also go the other way and bomb so hard the industry as a whole is left devastated. the whole 'mcu is dead' rhetoric is blown out of proportion as is, but you cant deny the precarious position the entire comic movie landscape is in given DC and Marvel films havent gone down super well in recent years. i personally cant wait for the upcoming projects as a whole and feell like marvel has its best days ahead of them really.

He spent so much time playing the character he likely got a bit tired of tony. Now having several years away from the role I expect his is looking back on the Tony with more fondness and once again open to playing him. He invested more than a decade of his life to this one character. That is an almost unheard of amount of time for an actor to play one character in the movies.

Also, imo when Tony was the one to sacrifice himself and snap his fingers it just felt right and made sense for that fact that Tony was the one who like started the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the OG, so for him to be the one to fix everything and be the biggest hero in the end just felt very full circle for me. Was I fucking sad and heartbroken, of course, but did it make sense and make me feel fulfilled in how that’s how it played out, YES!

Now that simple line from Steve got paid off big time
He was also the one with the visions of all the avengers dying and his ultimate goal was to prevent that from happening so we saw him grow as a character and change for the better

RDJ is Iron Man, I can't even be mad about them bringing him back, we all know we want to see him on the big screen as Tony Stark again.
Make a good a story for it to happen and even if it aint that good I will gloss over and move on because I want Tony Stark-RD J-Ironman back!!! I felt it when he died just like most of us did but it aint worth not having the dream alive to watch again and again we need the wisecracking genius being the hero!! I wished Chris Evans would have loved his Character as Much as I loved Captain America, because we need the pure hero of the greatest generation living on and being cheesy but able to wield Mjolnir!!!

It was no secret that RDJ was getting too expensive for the MCU. He made $10 million for Spiderman and he's only in 4 scenes.
He rightfully should be that expensive. He solidified himself as a fucking LEGEND through his performances as Iron-Man. Those movies make HUNDREDS of millions, if not BILLIONS, of dollars. They have enough to pay RDJ.
If his version of Iron Man is in a Movie it’s almost a lock it’s going to do a Billion + so they can afford him.

More likely the gig is too good, its easy to want better things when you got that marvel money, its not until he left and didnt get those hefty paychecks that he warmed up to the idea.

Yeah seemed more like he mentally had to prove to himself that he’s not just a superhero actor only or that he’s not typecasted because of his work with Marvel
I could see where an actor might question their own acting abilities as well as wanting to try something new. But I think now he’s proved himself, to himself, and with the write story/script and money, I think it would be hard for him to pass up.
I like the theory that Tony downloaded a copy of his consciousness before the time heist and his holographic goodbye in End Game was actually Tony. He lays dormant in a hidden special suit of armour until activated. They could do anything to bring him back if RDJ just says yes.
I like this idea way better than the idea of other versions of tony, first cus it wouldn't invalidate his death and second we would still keep the same character dynamics and connections we've seen over the years. We could even have a thing where he's the only one to remember Peter because he was backed up on a save before the last Spiderman movie (idk if that would work if he's fully deleted from the world but if he's still in like databases or pictures and shit it would make sense that an AI of tony would still remember him)

One thing I can't get out of my head is doctor strange multiverse of madness cause when he meets America Chavez she clarified that dreams that feel real are basically yourself in another reality in the multiverse and if you remember infinity war iron man tells Potts that he had a dream about them having a child named Morgan which 5 years later ended up happening maybe in another reality he had Morgan and maybe surviving endgame I don't know but with the multiverse it's definitely possible to bring him back hundred percent 👌🏼

If every single choice across all of time created a new reality, 14 million is just how many Thor made deciding what to do after breakfast one day.
The multiverse is infinite which means Tony Stark's not gone for good. Marvel has their ways of bringing people back. Which everyone knows.

I feel like Iron Man for RDJ is like an old video game you might play. You may put it down for a while, but after some time, you're willing to come right back to it with even more passion
The 2 actors i loved watching in the late 80s - early 90s were John Cusack and Robert Downey Jr- his performance in Chaplin was oscar worthy and an absolute tour de force. He went through tough times, as artists often do, but i was so pleased to see him return to form in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He is a great, great actor, and he should know it by now, but i understand his lack of confidence in his own ability because being Iron Man made him a superstar rather than a pure "thespian" because of attitudes to comic book movies. Hope he realises now that it's just a "different" type of acting.

I think an important aspect is that Chadwick Boseman passed away. Doctor strange was supposed to be a substitute for iron man. And Black Panther substitutes for Captain America. They have their own simiarites but if you look at scenes where the two respectively are together you can see the torch being handed. And well Chadwick dying probably impacted that

I believe the first credit should really go to Blade for that one. Marvel was on the brink of collapse when they put that film out through New Line Cinema. And they got lucky that yet another Hulk film (right after Iron Man) didn't kill them again.
John Favreau had a little something to do with it. He directed Iron Man. He was the one who wanted RDJ for Stark.
RDJ was making other movies in between the Marvel movies before. The Sherlock Holmes movies he made were amazing and I'd really like to see another one. So I don't think it's anything odd for him to come back.
I liked the first Sherlock Holmes movie he did quite a bit! The second one was just ok to me. Hopefully he'll do a third!

My husband and I had started watching the Marvel movies starting in 2014 and when he passed away in 2019, the last one I saw was avengers endgame and it literally shattered my heart

Just got done watching all 4 Avengers movies and I NEED MORE!!! RDJ needs to come back as Iron Man Tony Stark!!
I mean he wanted to do other things in hopes folks wouldn’t only think of him as Iron Man… he tried with Dolittle and FAILED, he finally got his Oscar & I’m sure that was his deciding factor to say “ok I got my prize outside of Marvel now I can come back”. Plus I’m sure Feige knows all of this and kept in contact with RDJ.. Notice Once he got that Oscar all of sudden he’s “down to come back”.
ENDGAME: April 26, 2019, SO 5 YEARS AGO!
Iron Man 4: Tony in a last ditch effort emailed his "consciousness" into the ether so he is a "Ghost in the machine" of the interwebs and he compiles himself into first a new suit then finally a clone body (via using some of the Ultron/Visison tech). This story line has been in the comicbooks so Id say this is the way back.
RDJ was always going to come back for secret wars. Evens too.
Iron man was always selfless to the core putting his life on the life in the avengers movies. He literally went into a worm hole not knowing he’d come back. He then almost died supercharging the vibranium rod underneath sacovia. Hes almost sacrificed himself twice.
RDJ is one of the best comebacks in all of Hollywood, Ironman is what gave him a second chance and he absolutely owned it
Endgame was the end for a lot of things Marvel and he went out with a hell of a bang, but I can't say too many people would be upset if he came back again

I want him back as Superior Ironman
The best way to bring him back is to completely ignore the whole time travel thing which is always pretty bad and to go back to good old Ironman. What does he do when he knows he is going to die? Makes something to leave to Peter. Makes something selfish for himself. He scanned his brain, saved it on a usb disk ( jk that's too small, he had a server somewhere (or 3 different servers with copies... it doesn't matter)). Once his auto upgrading AI reaches a threshold, he gets soft lock because of a problem in compute or a material requirement for new cpus and holds indefinitely. Some smart character ( prolly Peter) comes in and find a fail safe message left in some kind of Ironman server. Goes to fix / find whatever he needs and there you go. Ironman / tonny running into an armor's cpu. Later, discovers better fiber tech and makes an armored body of himself. Maybe some overclocking of his computer run brain once he reaches a new threshold of technology... = new power up ? ( for another movie later, keep it to revive at first )
I still feel it’s incredibly important to use actors going forward that have EXTREMELY flexible schedules. When the MCU first started I was big on the studios using big names in their movies. I thought pretending you could use nobody actors and pay them peanuts to do the same thing was insulting to everyone. Now my biggest problem is when you see scheduling problems or pay roll problems show themselves when you’re trying to immerse yourself in a movie. “Hey where is so and so? Oh they probably couldn’t afford to put him in the movie. But where’s this other guy? Oh he was probably busy filming this other movie of course.” It totally takes you out of the experience.
Armor Wars need him, and so does Marvel! Time travel him back! One day before the battle, bring him forward!
The film needs green goblin as iron man, like from the comics.

Technomancy was a poor choice of words, I just didn't know if there was a word for what I was thinking; whereas Doom mixes tech and magic (technomancy) I was envisioning a straight magical version of Ironman (same/similar functionality but derived solely from magic/enchantments, like a magical engineer; for instance he'd have a cloak, like Strange, but maybe it could wrap around him and kinda harden/fortify in order to cover/protect him like armor).
Basically he doesn't do magic on the fly (or maybe just rarely) but he designs insanely strong/sophisticated/capable magically enchanted gear instead

1:07 lets be honest RDJ has NOW played many roles since the interview where he said he wouldnt want to plat ironman again like his many roles on "The Sympathizer" plus hes role in oppeheimer. hes had some good roles in a short time, but even that amount of time alone is enough for RDJ wanting to come back. kinda of like being homesick, itd naturally creep up on a long time marvel actor. especiallly since hed been such a highly paid actor, now disney understands it was WORTH paying him to return.

There is an EASY way to bring RDJs OG Iron man back. When he was dying, his suits' AI enacted a plan using the nanomachines in his suit, to transfer his conciousness to an isolated server, probably in some stealth satellite. Call it the "Revenant Protocol" and use a new batch of nanomachines to build a new body that he could be transferred into at some appropriately important time.
There is NO WAY that bringing RDJ's Iron Man back could be a mistake. He is far too beloved in the MCU and there are just too many plausible ways that he could return. They just have to make sure that his return is a big moment and that it is set up with suspense. Maybe the new Avengers team is falling apart, like there is something they need, something they are missing, and facing defeat, and Iron Man's return is what pulls them all together.
One theory I have seen floating around for years now, and that I really like, is that once Tony figured out time travel, and after he talked to Pepper about whether he should help the Avengers or just put it away and live his life with her and Morgan, before he went back to the Avengers to help them set things right he downloaded or made a copy of his consciousness as a failsafe in case he died.
It would make sense for him to do this as he told Cap that his goal was to get back what they lost but that he also needed to hold on to what he had, meaning Pepper and Morgan. It makes sense he would prepare for the possibility that he could die trying to set things right. Obviously, Tony is very knowledgeable about AI. He created many of them, including creating Ultron and Vision. We also know the technology already exists to preserve a person's consciousness in a computer as we saw that Dr. Zola's consciousness was preserved (I think in Civil War, or maybe it was Winter Soldier, when Natasha and Cap found the computer consciousness of Zola in an old bunker).
At the end of End Game, some people pointed out that in Tony's recording that Happy, Pepper and Morgan watch, projected from Tony's Iron Man helmet, Tony actually makes eye contact and almost seems like he is aware of where people are in the room. It seems unlikely that if it was just a recording, that this would be the case. I'm sure some other explanation could be plausible, like he used some AI to edit and guide the recording on the fly as it was being played back, or he left specific instructions about where people should sit and where the helmet should be placed and whatnot, but if the technology existed for Tony to preserve his consciousness, and he obviously thought about the possibility that he could die (otherwise he wouldn't even have made the recording) and if he was clear about not wanting to sacrifice what he had gained in order to help everyone else get back what they had lost, then why wouldn't he have prepared for that eventuality?
As we all have seen, Tony is well known for having learned from past mistakes and built new tech into his suits to solve problems he had encountered before. He even designed failsafes to deal with his fellow Avengers, like the Hulkbuster suit in case he ever had to fight the Hulk.
There is precedent in the comics too, I believe, where just this sort of storyline actually happens, where Tony Stark dies and he made a backup of his consciousness and existed as an AI version of himself, like a Jarvis AI of sorts.
However they do it, I definitely think he should be brought back. There just have to be stakes involved. It can't just be an easy thing to accomplish and they have to need him. If they are going to eventually let Iron Man go again, and of course some day they will for good, I think it should be him "passing the torch" as he has talked about before, and retiring to live his life raising his daughter and living happily and quietly with Pepper. I think he deserves that much and I think the mantle of Iron Man should be passed on. Personally, I didn't care much for the way they introduced Iron Heart. If she is going to be Iron Man's successor, I think Tony himself should be helping to set her on that path. Then there's also Iron Lad, and there have been theories floating around about the kid from Iron Man 3 that helped Tony when his suit was out of commission, taking up the mantle of Iron Man. The kid was even at Tony's funeral, which seems odd if he isn't meant to eventually take up a further roll in the MCU.

I do have a problem with “bring all the old guys and gals back”. Those earlier movies were good because the STORY was good, and used excellent actors who ignored the super powers and goofy parts and treated the story seriously.
The biggest problem of the past 4 years is that the majority of the stories just haven’t been that good. There have been some standouts (Moon Knight having a STRONG start but a weak finish for example) but a lot of them just started with good premises and just didn’t have anywhere to go.
Nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia sucks too, quite frankly.

I think RDJ was great as Iron Man, let's be clear there. I also greatly liked his performance in Tropic Thunder, just to name a movie. I also quite liked his acting in Oppenheimer. I also really like him in The Sympathizer, even though the make up feels off in some points. He reminds me of an actor there, but i can't remember his name. I think Robert wants to be back above all because there's a really big chance that he will be replaced by the always popular TOM CRUISE, whom would 100% put down a believable, great portrayal of Iron Man, even if a 'variant'. So much so that it could even 'top' Downey's performances, especially after having a lackluster post-avenger acting career. So expressing desire to come back, is a smart move to raise attention back to him, BEFORE for some reason, some head at Disney decides to sign Tom Cruise, before he has had a chance on it himself.
The only reason RDJ is going back to the MCU in its current shitshow state is money🤷♂️

NGL, I really like Stark's sacrifice at the end of Endgame. It showcases his growth since the beginning of the franchise excellently, and it comes really neat narratively, since the whole thing started with him.
I just hope they don't ruin it by bringing him back.
It's the line, "I am Iron Man". Says it first as an ego trip (Iron Man I), then at the end of Endgame it's said with a sense of responsibility. Shows Stark's growth as a character, and RDJ did it all perfectly start to finish.
It's Marvel. Heroes rarely stay dead forever. A return for RDJ as an alternate Stark in Secret Wars/Multiverse Saga is the natural story arc. It shouldn't be a surprise. It should be a certainty - no matter what RDJ might say in interviews in the meantime.
