I really miss the old 2D films. I wish they still made them this looks so good .
She was lip syncing "The Family Madrigal" they didn't add the music cuz copyright.
Cope harder
Agreed
People still makes 2D films. İt is just not as popular as it was back than
Same. I don't hate 3D film, but I'm tired of them. :(
Would be a good art style for a tv show spinoff, i have heard that there may be more content for Encanto since it was a success although it wouldn’t be 100% like this since it’ll have a TV budget
actually yesterday it was announced by an account on twitter that they are considering doing a christmas special and maybe a miniseries!!
@@annnabelle18 Hmm, I wonder what the plot will be then!😀 Thx for this info!
@@annnabelle18 link?
@@annnabelle18 sauce?
@@annnabelle18 We want the sauce!
The fact that they created a detailed 2d animation like this just for a test just seems a bit wrong to me, it feels like a wasted opportunity and potential because even with a messy animation like this still managed to capture the heart, the uniqueness and the life they aspired this character to be with their way they moved, I truly respected the unsung animator behind this.
This make me wished that someday Disney can go back in creating an actual official 2d animation again for their movie even if it's just 1 out of 100 because the last time we had one was from Princess And The Frog and that was like a decade ago.
They're 2D Animation Was The Best! While It Lasted!
You are saying this as if the 3d animation of the movie lacked the heart and life in the character acting...
@@atomixfang of course. A computer can never match the heart of something hand drawn.
@@reginaldforthright805 you clearly know nothing about animation.
@@atomixfang It doesn't, but for me the 2d animation is more expressive, like the scene of beauty and the beast where both at the end look with love and she caresses her hair with affection
The first animation was REALLY smooth, and when they drew the skirt for Mirabel, it looks incredible, it's really smooth and fluid, like damn, why don't they start making 2D animations like what they did before?!
2D isn't profitable
Aww Mirabel looks adorable with her goofy dance
I'm wondering what she's lipsyncing tho
She's very cute doing the little dance while playing an accordion... Maybe she's lip syncing The Family Madrigal?
When her little animation is paired with The Family Madrigal instrumental, it matches up perfectly, even the little “Whoa!” She does. But her lips don’t match the lyrics, so I’m thinking it’s an earlier version of the Family Madrigal?
Im actually pretty sure its a 2d animated version of Mirabel singing 'You're Welcome' from Moana! There is a 3d version of it and im pretty sure I saw this clip somewhere as the original practice 2d version of it.
@Jana B Oh, yeah. I must've gotten them confused!
Looks like it may be done by the same animator and artists for lilo and stitch.
Encanto would’ve been a great 2-D animation film. (I know they weren’t planning to make it 2-D but I’m saying it would be cool if it was).
That 2d animation would be great for a tv series.
@Honey i second that
@Honey and to think this film has only been out for a few months.
Let’s just hope for a series.
Mirabel would’ve taken forever to animate lol
This has the potential to have a series. If they can't have it in 3d it wouldn't be a bad idea for it to be in 2d
Not like they cant have it in 3D
@@yytyyy5329 Good point. Still has the potential to have a series
@@solari05065 never denied that. Yay I love technicalities.
Mirabel animation test give me Lilo and Stitch vibes
Exactly what I was thinking!
Igual xd
Can we just take a moment to stare at Carlos/Camilo's Shape shift? Man Legit lift up The thing he is wearing and Saw it as a cape and Really said I'm batman lol
I love how it looks like Mirabel is almost in sync with the music
Unpopular opinion: Some movies I'm glad were 3D, and Encanto is one of them. I just really like how it looks and moves in CG.
Some other movies that I feel were probably better in CG were Zootopia and How to Train your Dragon (which I know isn't Disney, but still.)
Then of course there are other movies I think that would have been fine or better in 2D. I'm glad Princess and the Frog was, and I'm sure Moana would have had potential as a 2D film. With all of the concept art I also with they did something with a 2D Frozen, at least some type of short if it wasn't going to be a full movie.
I would to see Encanto in to 2D or Even 3D again I just want a Encanto TV show🐛🦋
I think Camilo’s transformation looks more aesthetically pleasing in this 2D animation style instead of the final product. In the movie, it’s just as simple as swapping character models and adding a quick little “flop” animation, while in the animation, they look more complex and alive! If we ever get an animated TV show, I wonder how they’ll handle Camilo’s transformations? Hopefully they give 2D another shot.
Camilo looks like a bad guy at the first concept, glad they change him X"D and "no" Camilo, your uncle not that big! lmao
I think he was Carlos
Because originally Camilo was gonna be a jerk who bully Mirabel
nah man thats a seventy foot frame / j
Fun fact: Camilo was originally supposed to be mean and always angry and kinda a bully to Mirabel but they changed him to be more carefree and happy
that's not camilo that's _carlos_
As much as Encanto in 2D would be cool, it really would be, I feel like Encanto is one of those movies that actually benefits from being CGI as opposed to 2D. Think of the Lego Movie. There are just too many things that are done in 3D that can’t be replicated perfectly (if at all) in a traditional format.
True. Encanto's camera movements are a masterpiece on its own. All surreal dance scenes felt so real, with all these cinematic shaking and so-called "dutch angles". 2D just would've had a whole different vibe.
Encanto really nailed it.
yeah like the character designs couldnt have been so detailed in 2d. imagine mirabel’s dress without any embroidery on it, or only a few simple flowers that r easy to redraw over and over. it wouldvd taken away from her character
I feel like if this was 2D animated, we’d probably get something beautifully animated in the style of Princess and the Frog! Or Lilo and Stitch! (The style of Mirabel’s 2D animated face sorta reminds me of it!) The way those characters moved in those movies were so lively! If they were turned 3D, I don’t think it could capture the magic that the originals did. I hope that Disney may consider a return to their hand-drawn 2D roots one day, even if it was for just one movie or show. It’s not very likely, but 2D animation has a unique shine of its own to me, and shouldn’t automatically be considered inferior to 3D.
*Holy cow I would have Love to see that camilo animation in the movie* 😭
That's Carlos, and you won't like that Camilo ver
despite it being years since we've had a 2D animated film from Disney, this style looks straight from the old Disney films, like 101 Dalmatians and Robin Hood. that's impressive that they've kept the spirit of it, even if they're not featuring it in their films. much love to all the animators who poured their heart and soul into things most people will never see
I love art styles and movies like this. This reminded me a bit of Lilo & Stitch. I wished Disney kept making movies like this.
We need more hand drawn animated films and this shows how beautiful it looks
Ngl Mira's 2D "model" animation actually makes her look like an actual 15 yr old compared to her 3D one
Both animations looks great, camilo's transformation was really smooth and cool.
0:13 Mirabel dancing in 2D is just PERFECT!!!
Wait was the first clip using Alice in wonderland’s drink me room?
Mirabel looks like a character from Lilo and Stitch
You mean Mertle? LOL 😂
Now I have a burning urge to see a 2D animated Encanto in this hand drawn style.
This style would be great for a tv show. I miss 2D animation
That animation made Camilo look like the shadow man from “The Princess and the Frog*
You mean Dr. Facilier?
@@lauriex8832 Yup
This animation would be great for an encanto series
Ok, that Camillo animation at the beginning is so cool, and the expression he makes at the end is very funny.
Got Lilo & Stitch vibes from the animation with Mirabel. Not complaining, I’m all for it. Especially if they decide to make a series or something.
It would be pretty cool in Encanto as a mini series with 2D animation. I think it would pay off pretty well.
0:13 really got that lilo and stitch vibe frrrrr
That Camilo transforming to Bruno is giving me Fantasia vibes, God Damn. Smooth animation! Makes me wish they did a clean up render for them all!
The way they drew Mirabel gives me Lilo and Stitch vibes
I swear, whoever worked on the Goofy movies also drew Mirabel. She looks so much like Roxanne.
Obviously the actual Encanto is already a great film but I kinda wish that the movie was 2d. Look at that fluid animation!
It's interesting that Mirabel's legs are seen through her skirt meaning that they draw her full body first and then the skirt in every frame. That's insane.
Also it she looks right out of Lilo and Stich. Anyone else feel that?
As an aspiring artist, it makes sense I'd say. I thought I could draw good human outlines without a skeleton, but now that I'm getting into the habit if drawing one it does make it easier.
I might be wrong but I sense that Chris Sanders the guy who directed Lilo and Stitch animated the Mirabel test. He has a recognizable style where his character designs are more rounded and simpler than the style of his other contemporaries
@@Boris91939 Ah that makes sense
Idk why, the part with Camilo made me thing of the Genie from Aladdin
Idk why but Camilo's part gave me the Beetlejuice vibes... And it's just so good-
would be nice if disney would still keep making 2d animated movies. obviously it would be transitioned to digital but it would still hold Disney's charm
I wouldn't want this art style for Encanto, I admit. However, I love 2D animation and I wish it could be resurrected by a new movie or show! This is absolutely amazing.
Wow! This is a classic disney style!
2d dancing mirabel reminds me of childhood for some reason
So smooth my eyes is fullfil the good old days,
and that's why i love 2D animation.
i hope the colouration for 2D do match like how the 3D goes...
something like in 2D format but in 3D likeness colour view shades.
so that i can have super fun to watch the show.
2D animation is so cool
I feel like 2D would be great for more grounded stories, like they did with Treasure Planet or Atlantis. Basically if it doesn't have songs, it's probably more grounded than the usual Disney movie. 3D looks better for magical stuff I think, because you compensate the more restrictive style with the setting itself, and having more details and lights becomes an advantage to display what the story has to offer. 2D on the contrary, helps elevate what might otherwise be a pretty dull setting.
0:09 exactly why the ruana works so well with his shapeshifting power, even in 2d animation it works because it's a great way to cover up Bruno's clothes and transition into his normal wear. in the film, or in 3d animation it's done with motion blur to quickly change the model without anyone noticing.
I love the concept of Camilo storytelling about Bruno with his shapeshift powers
Reminds me of the style of lilo and stitch!
I don't know why but that last ones art style really makes Mirabelle look like she'd fit in and Lilo and stitch
We need more disney 2d films
If Encanto was made in 2001:
You know why disney wants their animations all 3d and spectacular cgi because 3d animations create more money than 2d to be honest i prefer 2d it looks much more unique amazing and colorful
Mirabel looks more like Lilo's rival
Mirabel looks like a character from Lilo and Stitch.
Never had seen or heard about this film before.
The style reminds me of Lilo & Stitch. I'd love to see a 2D show for Encanto animated like this and not like the way they animate other spinoff shows like Tangled or Big Hero 6. And look, Tweening isn't the worst looking thing, but it doesn't beat the smoothness of 2D animation.
Wait, WHY WAS THAT CAMILO SCENE NOT IN THE FINAL MOVIE? That looked awesome! Though he did get a little way overboard with Bruno being a literal giant. XD Still, imagine this scene would take place at some point in the movie where he told the small kids about his mysterious uncle who's 7 foot tall and had rats along his back, because I can see Camilo likes to do these kinds of things. Not to be evil, just likes being a trickster (also his memory of Bruno wasn't that good and saw him as a tall man who told mostly bad fortunes and... well, not sure where Camilo got the "rats on his back" from. Did Bruno have rat friends longer than I thought?).
But I guess it had no room in the movie and Camilo doesn't reveal Bruno's full figure until his scene in "We Don't Talk About Bruno". So instead I wish this would be in the mini-series that I heard is gonna be a thing, either in a flashback scene or one episode is set before the movie's story. I don't even know if the mini-series will take place before or after the events of the movie. I want both.
Mirabel looks like she came outta a Lilo & Stitch movie
I love the fact that Mirabel kinda looks like lilo
It's videos like this that makes me miss the old 2D animation such fluidity and life
I want to see a 2D Disney animated movie so badly
This looks so awesome!!
I’ve never seen that Camilo/Bruno one, that’s so cool!! If they ever do an animated series (which seems likely) I’m praying they make it 2d 🙏🏼 I think that would be wonderful to see, especially of this quality ✨
I would dig these as an animated short or something
How many of us would keep watching Disney if they went back to good old hand draw 2D animation? I know I definitely would 🙋♀️
Imagine the whole encanto Movie in 2D that would be AMAZING!
Makes me remember of Lilo and stitch
I actually see encanto being in 2d, man if only
mirabel is reminding me of lilo from lilo and stitch here!
Omg! So charming❤👌
The animation 😩👌💕
Disney should make 2 versions of their films. One in 2d and one in 3d.
That was Impressive!
In one of them early concepts Mirabel looks like one of them nerdy teachers
The sketchy style of animation would work so well for a series! Also, Maribel look's so goofy lol, it's weird that originally she was going to carry an accordion around the whole time for the movie.i
I think the animation was of her singing the madrigal song
gives off lilo and stitch vibes
Camilo has Alberto's hair for a second when he transforms back 💀
They did say they were thinking about making a series for Encanto. An animated series would be lovely!
I really wish there was a good 2D animated film and I kinda wish Encanto was 2D though it did turn out good in 3D still.
If they were doing these 2D animations as CONCEPTS, couldn't they just as easily make A MOVIE OUT OF IT FOR JUST AS MUCH WORK?!?
Is that the same background where Alice firdt met the Doorknob from Walt Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (1951)?
I saw a clip of Miranda dancing and looked this up. As soon as I was the beginning I'm writing this commetn. Man, I wish that was how the movie was made... DISNEY TO MADE A 2D VERSION RN AAA
Camilo really went: *7-foot frame*
Imagine they add that
mirabel looks much more like a 15 year old in the 2d animations ive seen imo
So much better in 2d
They add mriabel in sketch for the new disneyland fireworks right in the beginning how it all started
0:33 she looks like lilo lol
The art style in the 2-D animation reminds me a Lilo and Stitch.
Disney us just teasing us at this point....
Bruno lookin like Colombian Doc Brown in the thumbnail
"SEVEN FOOT FRAME!"
Me gustaría que pusieran esas escenas
Still waiting for that 2D test of Isabela Madrigal that we can see on “The Art Of Encanto”...
is the idea to figure out how a character should move?
Man, I really wish we could have 2d films come back
i cant get over how much mirable looks like lelo from lelo and stitch
Me hubiese encantado que la película fuera en 2D
