My number one way of learning in fluency is by reading books and reading it loudly, trust me it can help. Speaking to myself in English also helps me to be fluent, I mean not like an expert level but it really improves my speaking skills, just talk to yourself even while doing chores in the house will really help. Thank you for your videos. I'm hungry for learning. Filipino here watching from kuwait. I work as a housemaid but my boss is jealous with my English, sometimes I even help their son's homework and I feel happy. My dream is to become an English teacher, or a public speaker or even a call center agent. I hope when the time is right, I will become one. I will be a housemaid for now.😊

Physical fluency means basically how your mouth and tongue cooperate to produce words precisely, While mental fluency is how your brain puts suitable words into sentences. 2. Speed Reading a) find a text easy for you to read b) read it out and time yourself 5. Sing songs Read lyrics and sing it out, you can choose harder songs as you move on 6. Learn language in chunks Stop translating word by word!! Remember the language in big pieces
Everything comes with time, just keep practising and be proud of yourself that you're learning another language while not everybody knows a second language
The most important part in speaking any language is confidence👌 once you master the skill of confidence you will gradually get fluent and begin to make use of your vocabulary. It is always a good idea to begin with simple words in sentences and slowly introduce new learnt words or rather bombastic words. Again be practical try to have conversations with different nationals Africans, Asians, British etc but never try to change how you speak your English based on whom you are speaking with. Yes you can simplify conversations in trying to be understood but never compromise your manner of speaking or confidence. Watch English movies and get someone that inspires you for instance I'm inspired by Raymond Reddington of the Blacklist NBC show. Remember practice builds towards perfection 👌 I'm in South Africa and willing to have a trial or learning conversations in English via Zoom or any digital platform, as I'm interesting in learning to diversify my speaking tools. Thank you all.
I dont even remember the last I had a video call with somebody .I really do want to improve and level up my confidence as well my english speaking skills. Your advice is great, Thank you
Hi Oli, following your steps, I have been talking with native English speakers for 2~3 hours a week for a year. My spoken English has really improved, and now I can use English to handle most things in daily life. Thank you very much for sharing, it is very helpful.
Hi! I'm John from the Philippines. When I was in Junior High School, I'm not able to speak English well and always find myself hesitating every time I spoke with my classmates or try to have conversations with them using the English language. But when I became a Senior High school student, there was someone who inspired me to practice myself and get used to it. She told me that, I should try talking to myself in the mirror regularly. I tried it! And boom, the effect was really amazing. I learned how to be fluent in it and I always find myself confident in using that language. But then, thanks for this video it still helped me a lot. By the way, here in the Philippines if you commit grammar lapses, people will laugh at you and that part is really difficult for the people who want to learn how to speak English fluently.
I think your method is very useful, I will try it because I want to speak english fluently. Now I have still less confident when I commnunicate with foreigner and I am doing practice everyday

True, try watching movies. Before, I really don't believe that watching English movies can make you better at English. But, when I started watching Stranger Things all the way to Game of Thrones, I suddenly realized it worked. And also try making some essay's every day with different topics. It can improve your English, grammar, pronunciation, and accent. I'm @ Filipino too. I can understand what you're talking about. Tiwala lang, bro. Ganyan din ako dati.

I appreciate your work! I teach adults English here in New York, USA. I am using your teaching methods. I teach the vocabulary for a topic and then have the students answer a question or two about the topic. This takes a long time. My class is 3 hours long. The first hour is vocabulary. Then they get the two questions to answer themselves. Then everyone is put into pairs. The partners sit across from each other. The 6 tables are arranged in a U shape which allows some to sit inside outside the U. The students on the inside will rotate one person to the right to get a new partner. Everyone gets to ask and answer the same questions with at least 3 people. The talking time is limited to 2 minutes. Once both partners have asked and answered the question the remaining time is theirs to talk 'in English' about anything they want. One way to conduct a 'talking circle' it to direct the students to list all the words they know about a topic. For example, the weather. I will have the students name and describe all the weather vocabulary they know as quickly as possible for 1 minute. They did this with their notes one day and without their notes another day. The objective is to give the students an opportunity to use words and phrases they are learning. My students like this exercise. The most difficult thing to teach was the 'rotation'. Believe it or not, my students like to pick a spot to put their things and they are reluctant to move around the room! I've been doing this for 3 months now. We all get a good laugh from it. Thank you Oxford English Online for a wonderful service. I wish you all much success in your future.
This is the main point that I was searching for,,we have to save in our mind phrases and sentences so when we want to speak we don't need to translate our thinking from Arabic to English
It is so impressed me, In Korea there are so many English classes and students can study English easy, but there are few people speaking English fluency. Thank you for your video. And I will try it!!
Wow. I think this lesson is what I need. I've been watching a lot of techniques on RUclips on how to get into fluency. I've always wanted to speak English in my expressive and fluent self. However, everything seems to be not working for me. But this video justifies the truth that learning vocabulary would be easier if you learn vocabulary with phrases and sentences rather than learning a particular word and translate it in your mother tongue. I usually got stuck when I can't find a word that I wanted to say because I have to translate it in my own language. Now it's time for me to try your advice. Thanks to you, sir.
i can read and hear engish well but my big diffucalty is speaking i believe that your tecniques are verry useful i will try them and will be fluent speaker thank you so much
*I've been studying english for 13 years of my life (since grade 3 to colleges) but still im not fluent in speaking .. you know why ? Because here in the Philippines they just teach what is english and how to construct a sentence using english laguage BUT they didn't teach us to practice in speaking ..*
I don't think so. During our english classes, we are not allowed to speak any other languages except english. We had monologues and many other activities. The problem is in you.
Maybe you entered in high standard education school's why dont you visit some public school in here and you will see the difference but i admit there's a problem in me .. don't speak like you know everything if you are good in english language thats good for you .
M I C A S A N T O S, same condition in Bangladesh's public school. we ourselves have to struggle to be fluent in English, though it's very boring........
Yes, this the same thing happens with most of country, I am from India and here in public school we have only one subject in English which is English subject and apart from this our all books are in our native language so teachers teache English but they don't teach how to speak English and during the school/college time we don't even realize how much importance of English in our professional life and finally we come in the job and business then we have to phase communication problem with international client's and customers. As we all know English language is the one which become a common language at international level...Touch wood I can write, read, listen English but my trouble is I can't speak that much as a English speaker speaks.. if anybody wants to improve their spoken English then please ad me on your WhatsApp. We will talk every day whenever we get free times by calls and text massages as well.. this way we can improve speaking English ASAP by sharing our cultures, background, about food, games, politics, movies, etc. May be we can be a good friend... Here is my WhatsApp number..+91 7248681715.
My shyness is my sole hindrance when speaking English but I must do something about it for sure . Thank you for all these tricks which are helpful and fruitful.
because your brain can't handle full sentences yet when you write you don't put it fast you just type one word at a time or many but not a full sentence but when you speak you gotta about what you gonna say that's why they are different.
Hello guy, I come from Cambodia. therefore I studies English for 8 year ago and now I can't speak English fluently. After I watched this video. I hope to speak English as well as before. Thank you guy
I have difficult to speak English because not many people in my country spoke English and practice, sometimes they feel shy , how can I know speak when I'm not practice my English very well, sometime I talk to my self and read must but nothing change. This video really help me to learn and practice my English..and how to pronounce British accent. Thank you so much. 👍 From east Timor. 🇹🇱
I am practicing the English now , But I don't know very English , I know that trying and practicing is very important with speaking in English ❤ thanks you so much
Hi Oli. I've been learning english for a long ime, but I'm not able to speak it with fluency yet. This class has let me realize how to move on in my goal to be bilingual.
part three is soooooo great and relieving! I almost burst into tears when hearing this, it is exactly what I feel when I try to explain my experiences as strong and explicit as in Chinese, my mother language, in interviews. sending love to this genius of motivating people Oli and welcome to make phone calls in Chinese with me haha 💕
That was one of the most unforgettable video lessons I have ever seen ! “Learn language in chunks” ! Now I see why my process takes time than expected. Unfortunately it is very tiring to unlearn the old structure and replace it with new one after a while but ofcourse it is not possible (: Thanks for this ! It should be spreaded around the world and English teachers in non-English countries must teach the lessons aligned with this structure. Otherwise, non-natives will have to keep translating in their heads forever..
I am in Grade 5 and I got selected to do a speech to say why I should get selected. I watched this video for better fluency and I completely rocked it (I got selected). Without this video I wouldn't have been school captain
Thanks Oli! I always type or talk in my head in english I barely speak English even though I’m half Brit half Thai. I will totally try this out and hope I get some improvements in a few months, stay safe Oli!
Bonnie , that is great! So many feel shy about talking to themselves but it is a great way to improve your English. Do you feel like you are improving by talking to yourself?
I think I've improved my speaking mostly by rambling out loud or talking to myself, and music. I'm also attending classes that force me to speak in English and I believe that has helped me, I have participated in a few language exchanges as well despite my shyness, and I loved them. I also have speaking exams in my classes, but I think they could be done a bit better. Sometimes they feel scripted or unrealistic; either because of the topic or the time limit. I feel like I've made good progress since two years ago though. Finally, and in case someone needs this. If you have an accent when you speak; or if you hear someone that has one, know that there's nothing wrong with it. If anything, that shows the effort you or the other person are making, and it shouldn't be something to make fun of.
Very practical suggestions. Totally agree with the idea of avoiding translation. Whenever I attempt to translate my first language into English, I always feel cognitive overloaded, which influences fluency in many ways.
Most of the time I record my self speaking for instance I read an article about something then I go to record my self speaking about it try to explain it in my way with my own words it's really helpful if you don't someone to talk to you I'd recommend this Technic
Oli, thank you so much for all the effort you have been doing for us. These tips are truly remarkable when putting into practice. No doubt that this channel is one of the best in terms of teaching, we really appreciate your knowledge sharing!!!
Oli, you are excellent as a teacher. My English would be at a proficiency level if you were my teacher. Your accent is great, I understood everything. Thanks for the tips, they are really useful. Greetings from Mexico City.
Hi Oxford Online English, Hi Oli, I'm Pho from Hochiminh city, Vietnam. Your video is very useful and helpful for me. Actually I learned English a long time, perhaps 7-8 years. But I never really understand why I can't speak confidently and fluently. So, I tried to find the answer too long and I saw them. All of your videos absolutely help me how to use English deeply. The last thing is to change my mind about English a lot, from hating to loving them very much. Thank you so much ! Hope to see a lot of your video next time.

one of the strategies is using substitution drills as mentioned in your video. It's quite an old school method but i find it very helpful in my classroom. the students could also learn parts of speech and aware how to substitute them. I love you tips... 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:00 🗣️ Fluency involves both the physical aspect of smooth pronunciation and the mental aspect of forming sentences quickly. 01:55 🗨️ To improve fluency, the most crucial step is regular practice by speaking with others or engaging in activities that require speaking English. 03:22 💪 Accept that speaking a foreign language can feel difficult and intimidating; don't let it stop you from practicing and communicating. 06:36 📖 Speed reading practice helps improve the physical aspect of fluency by training your mouth to produce sounds and words quickly. 07:59 🎵 Singing along to English songs at different speeds can enhance your physical fluency by syncing with the song's pace. 08:54 🧠 Learn vocabulary in phrases and sentences instead of individual words to facilitate faster and more natural responses during conversations.
Hey, I have a question... Is grammar must necessary for great fluency in English or a rich vocabulary can fulfill this purpose??? Which one is best in your opinion??

Can u teach me please??
wow! sounds good! love from india
Thank you that's my problem
I dunno why I can't speak English good when I'm with people but I can speak pretty good when I'm alone
You can practice English with someone through phone calls
Same thing with me
U can talk to me on FB or insta if u want that will be good for both
@Quỳnh Đoàn Ngọc yes

M I C A S A N T O S I thought Philippines use English as mother tongue :D
Why is it so hard for me to speak in english but when I write, I feel like I'm a native english speaker 😕
Yahh..I feel the same..😂
Same bro 😂😂
I think both are different things, but we have written a lot , we need same level of practice in speaking too
because your brain can't handle full sentences yet when you write you don't put it fast you just type one word at a time or many but not a full sentence but when you speak you gotta about what you gonna say that's why they are different.
Native english speaker 😏👌

I will totally try this out and hope I get some improvements in a few months, stay safe Oli!
this is the best possible video and explanation for the fluency within all the videos in RUclips. palpable and to the point.
Yes. He's very frank and practical. i liked when he said we should learn english in phrases... very good
I'm Thai, I don't have a chance to speak English in my daily life so that I talk to myself in English everyday.
Let speak english with me
Give me your number, so we can talk on phone call
Bonnie , that is great! So many feel shy about talking to themselves but it is a great way to improve your English. Do you feel like you are improving by talking to yourself?
if you mind I want to practice with you. I am very hungry to learn spoken English.
@@learnENGLISHwithdebi if you mind I want to practice with you. I am very hungry to learn spoken English.
I can't speak english that much but i love to learn to be fluent ang confident as well...thank you for this video.
I used to learn vocabulary in the way you mentioned. Now I am going to learn new words with sentences and phrases, thank you!
I am here to improve my spoken English and I found your video really helpful.

All of your videos absolutely help me how to use English deeply. one of the strategies is using substitution drills as mentioned in your video. It's quite an old school method but i find it very helpful in my classroom. the students could also learn parts of speech and aware how to substitute them.

Is grammar must necessary for great fluency in English or a rich vocabulary can fulfill this purpose???
Which one is best in your opinion??
