Measuring fuel consumption of a 170-kilometers-old engine? ;)

You'll be surprised that my 48000km engine (1.0 125HP MK3) does the same, or even better, some 0.2 - 0.3 L/100km lower at every of the test speeds in this video..., and that happens as I've also used Bestline engine treatment. But even before using the Bestline oil treatment, I still had the same results as this guy in the video. So..., a very well engineered and enduring car and engine! The only problem..., is that being a direct injection gasoline, after some 100000km, the intake valves must be cleaned. Either by going in the maintenance shop (which will cost quite much to do the cleaning) or much cheaper by using good quality solutions that clean up the intake valves.

I've just got the same engine.. The idea is ( if you would've red the owner's manual... )That the real mileage would come around between 3200 and 4800km !!!!! Until then the engine is not yet "settled"!
So, as I'm 800km now... Will wait for your next video when you'll be say 5000Km :)
By the way... Rain ads extra drag ( the tires encounter extra " advance resistance" so the mileage would go up during rainfall ;)
Also counting the fact that is cold outside.. And you are using winter tires, we should know what type of.. The make, model, size... That influences the mileage as well ....
And again!!!!! This turbo engines work waaaay better with high octane fuel at least 98 if not 100!!! The antidepressant coefficient being higher, it allows for the pressure inside the chamber to be higher before igniting the fuel.... Thus allowing for the fuel efficiency to go up up...
So next video... 5000 km, high octane fuel... Summer tires with at least B class fuel efficiency.... And you'll get...

Is it a manual or automatic? Anyone can comment on the automatic fuel efficiency? Thanks

horrible. it will consume 10 liters at 175km/h. our old merc consumed only 12liter at 210km/h.... and not 15liter. oh dear. 7 literss. more than old VW gold in 1980s at same speed

+MrTiti Many years ago my dad had VW Polo from 1983. It was able to consume 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres at stable speed 90km/h. If I remember well it was consuming 9 litres per 100 kilometres at speeds around 160-165 km/h

mate i have this car with this engine, its a small engine if you over stress it it WILL use a lot of petrol, but on normal roads you cant do 175km/h. at 100/60mph i get over 60mpg, even doing 140/50 i still get it in the 50s. its nippy, and in (mind you im 21 so my foot is GLUED to the floor every time im allowed to accelerate) "normal" ie non autobahn speeds it gets REALLY good mileage. (like6-7l/100km). ffs it gets better mileage than my dads 2.0TDI (not in town i will admit) when cruising at 70-80mph. its a great little engine, there is absolutely no denying it, and hey might use a bit more fuel (it really doesnt but lets say it does) but due to it being so small my insurance is THOUSANDS less than it would be on a say 1991 2.2l 4cyl engine. and you get a safer car. and my road tax isint hundreds a year (if youre not from the UK disregard that). just because something old is good, it REALLY doesnt mean that new is bad.
