What I cant seem to comprehend is, why isnt some of the hundreds of millions of dollars in the aquarium trade going to this place?

I wish I knew. Most do not want to think that there is an impact from over collection.

Not sure how I’m just catching this but awesome stuff Randy. Excited to see the work continue. The only thing more prevalent than wild caught beautiful fish there seems to be the dedication and passion

The donations catch-22 is unfortunate, but I do hope that if they can get things going, future videos showing the conservation efforts in action will spur people on.

Thanks. We will be posting a new video of the completed work in January on our youtube channel. I return to Iquitos at the end of December. Dorms and kitchen are completed, and the public aquarium is near completing.

Apistogramma "Alto Tipache".. they are on exporters price lists in Iquitos for $25 each. We are breeding them at our center to help the fisherman and teach them to raise and breed these fish.
