Hello Logan, this aluminium boat build is coming along very nicely! very good video. I have recently started repairing/building boats with my first video being released today, you're more than welcome to have a look, possibly suggest how I could improve things? Thanks Tom
I'm giving serious thought to making one of these. What is the barrier of entry to someone who has never welded before. (I have worked on my cars in the past)
so aluminium is quite easy and hard to weld at the same time. this boat with the difference in thickness will cause a bit of challenge but nothing you can't overcome. I would recommend getting some pieces to try out first and go from there but once you get the hang of it will go like butter. for reference, I'm a welder by trade and worked with aluminium for 2 years straight mig and tig if you have any questions shoot me a message
We were first time welders at the start and I can definitely say it was quite the challenge. Any angle and any gap difference changes everything, wrapping your head around all the settings on the machine was definitely a learning process. Safe to say if I had to do it again it'd be welded up a lot faster and nicer haha
Waiting for next part
just posted!
Okay I know you know, but still got to say it. Fricken Dope!!!
Just subscribed to watch it come together. Looking good so far!
Thanks for the videos. You're probably having fun in the river by now? Hope you filmed the rest of the build? 👍
You bet
Hey Logan! I know it’s been a while but I was wondering if you remember what wire you used? 4043 or 5356 ?
Will share & thanks
How many hours did it take to fully weld out this boat? Planning on building one of these to play in the rivers here in Alaska.

@@mikeyyy187 Thanks man. Much appreciated. I think I will buy a welder and start practicing in my garage.
