On this legendary evening, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti were joined by conductor Zubin Mehta, the L.A. Philharmonic, and the L.A. Music Center Opera Chorus at Dodger Stadium, where they enchanted with a selection of operatic arias and international favorites, specially orchestrated by composer/arranger Lalo Schifrin.

Opera purists criticized the Three Tenors project as somehow bringing down the culture of opera to pop music and disrespecting it. But quite the opposite was the truth - it expanded an art form of music to people who've never even heard it or knew it existed. To this day there are people experiencing the music who'd have never known or been interested in it without what the Three Tenors did.
Thanks to the Three tenors i love opera. I remember when i was three years old, watching that man (Pavarotti), singing behind the microphones the aria Nessun Dorma, that was the moment that made me get in love with opera.

I loved seeing them so casual and the funny side of them.
Just breaks my heart to think that Domingo, Carreras and Mehta are still around but Maestro Pavarotti is no longer with us. He was taken from us too soon. To me, his voice was the greatest Tenor voice of all time. Love Domingo as well but Pavarotti was a once in a millennium voice. RIP Maestro and thank you for what you’ve given us while you were here.

I saw the 3 Tenors at Carlton Football Ground here in Melbourne. They were beautiful and blew me away ..Never tire of listing to them.

Thank you for sharing this upload. Tenors this exciting, of this caliber, this charismatic, and this collegial with each other, will never exist again. Mehta was totally right: this phenomenon cannot be replicated. Imitated, that already happened, sure, but recreated? No. It's always great to learn the behind the scenes history because such an under-taking is truly massive and complicated.

After all these years... recalling such spectacular events fans, now you can understand they were so revolutionary about managing great happenings and even enjoying classical entertainment, yeah, worth the pain hanging on things we trully love, someone up there rewards us fans. We can dedicate this awesome documentary Maestro Mehta as birthday celebration virtual gift...if you organize the REPLAY concert guys , who was there in the audience come back and paaaarty together, l do not mind at all, successfull events can turn back...in tour like the most beloved music stars as well, Happy birthday Maestro Mehta
Not enough credit is given to the sound engineers at this concert. Think about the typical singing of the National Anthem at a ballpark. You get a tinny, canyoning sound with constant echoes. The sound at Dodge Stadium was impeccable.

I think in 1992 the Three Tenors, Carerras, Domingo and Pavarotti should perform a world cup concert in Vienna, Austria I which they have the Drinking Aria from Die Fledermaus and Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in the program. In fact that should be before the Los Angles concert in 1994.

As a child I didn't like opera as I only to hear sopranos which to as a 5 year old sounded like screeching then one day they had a Mario Lanza film on tv he was wonderful. Ironically my dad was listening to the radio and John Hanso was singing something from The Desert Song. The 3 Tenors made love opera but I'm afraid still have a problem with sopranos.
