That seems to happen a lot with them, they upsell you to the larger size because "that's all they have".
I doubt they told you this at the rental place (I've never encountered a rental place that does), but be VERY careful with using the equipment in the grass; uHaul considers what you're doing to be "off-roading" because you've removed it from a paved surface, and if the truck gets stuck, you're responsible for the costs of getting it unstuck if the vehicle is outside of manufacture's warranty. Source: I used to work dispatch for uHaul's roadside assistance.
I got the 26-footer because it was the biggest that they had. Luckily, everything fit. But, I did give away a bunch of stuff first.
They did that same "upgrade" to me. I had to drive it alone with my ridiculously small load over 400 miles from Maryland into New England.
had to drive 26' internationals pretty often for work, hills really suck, so does getting used to air brakes, otherwise not to bad to drive
I'm pretty sure I've driven one of those for one of the three times I've driven a Uhaul. The first time I drove one, I accidentally went down a road I wasn't supposed to and couldn't see on my right side because it was such a tight turn. Oopsie! 😅

Them broads will rip right off wall I rent them all the time the ten foot truck for work and I never have problem getting truck I want and u did it over weekend which is the busiest time of week and u pay for the miles as well I would rent them during the week it’s cheaper by far and the book has a list of about how much gas u will need to be back to were it was I like them full of gas then it’s easier to know
