When I got this on VHS back in I think either 89 or 90, I did the same thing. That score is so dark but uplifting and beautifully triumphant. You knew the worst was over, but dark and difficult days were still ahead. The one thing that would stand against it all, was standing on top of that building staring at his signal.
+daustin8888 agreed why did they never use it in the remakes. Think about how awesome this would have been in batman Vs superman, they could have had both Danny Elfmans theme, and John Williams theme. Not this over used Hans Zimmer crap.
Elfman and Williams basically shit on anything Zimmer did for the characters. And I'm a huge fan of everything Zimmer has done OTHER than his Nolan stuff and Superman.

Their acting is flawless, and Danny Elfman's score only puts the icing on the cake. As good as the Christian Bale movies were, I will always love Tim Burton's 1 & 2 the most. The best actors, the best music, the best everything!

Interestingly enough, I consider Nolan's Batman to be more of a James Bond type superhero with all the gadgets and abilities. However, I looked at Keaton's Batman as being a sort of mysterious creature that lived in the darkness. Personally, I think the darkness type appeals to me. But everybody has their preference.
@@skerr808 Yeah. Even if people see Burton's Batman as campy now, there's elements of it that I think are actually darker than Nolan. Like Nolan is dark in a more matter of fact, real world way like Law and Order. Burton was more like a gothic horror movie, especially the first one but in some ways the second too. Even if the whole Burtonverse never makes a comeback, I'd like to see Burton's style make a comeback. There needs to be a director who's a fanboy of both the Burton movies and the comics who figures out how to marry the two. Maybe that's what we would have gotten if Burton had left Sam Hamm's script alone and just brought all his ideas to life in his signature gothic style.
I remember going up to the top of the couch as a four year old, with a towel as a cape, and just looking up at the imaginary symbol while Batman did it on the TV. Almost 30 years ago.

+JB0523 He doesn't have a weakness to lead. His so-called weakness to magic is vastly overstated by people like yourself who don't do their research. Red sun radiation is plot induced stupidity since it only ever slows him down, and Superman just ends up fighting his way out of it. Kryptonite has, and always will be his main weakness. Man!!! Gotta love this finale. between 2:33 and 2:36 Kind of gives you a message that.... it ain't over yet, and the battle for justice still goes on...
Hats off to you Mr. Elfman.
'He gave us a signal'
The machine whirls up. The triumphant music swells. Chills.
that's one of the most iconic moments ever. When I saw it first time, my eyes widened with awe and to this day I do.
How to end a movie with style. It's perfect !
The mix of the bells at the end with him standing there just looking at the signal just makes this the definitive Batman for me.
“He gave us the signal…”
One of the most iconic moments in this franchise’s history. I get chillbumps every single time I see it. ❤
I still get the CHILLS when I see the batman looking over the city with the music...lol..👍🏻💯 . I seen this like 30 times when it was out in the theater and VHS. Good time to be a kid.
Cannot wait to see Michael Keaton Batman again in the new Flash movie. And hope the play his music again in the movie with the bells.
Even as I saw this movie at close to 4 years old, this has to still be one of the best endings to a movie I have ever seen.
Not only the ending, the music, Kim Basinger’s beauty, and overall energy are like all in a certain unison.
Right this film is amazing and I rank it 2nd in all of the batman films. But this end scene is by far the best. The score the moment. Brilliant
my son always crys in this part
Me too...Me too...
You're not alone. It takes a man to admit that.
I too cried when seeing this first time cause it was that powerful and it made me believe that batman was real let alone at night I would picture the bat sign outside shining bright in the sky.
Same here..
must have seen this movie over 100 times when i was 4-7 years old. ah long childhood afternoons :)
Definitely the greatest movie from my childhood.
I am 31 years old. this was the first non animated movie I ever seen. I think I was 3-4 years old. This ending still gets me every time, as if it were the first time I seen it. chills.
1:13 it’s like you can hear Vicky’s emotion- looking up at the signal- longing for something she knows she can’t have...
1:10 This has been the light of DC comics for almost 85 years
GOAT ending of any Batman film.
I would love to see an ending scene just like this music and all with Keaton at the end of The Flash movie.
Kevin Conroy: I am Vengeance I am the Night I AM BATMAN!
31 YEARS OLD, and still the BEST "Batman" movie ever!
Not even a cold snap bristles my beard as much as the ending score.
(2:30-2:44)
“I am vengeance, I am the night, I am BATMAN!!!”
Gosh, that glorious music when they first show the Batsignal at 1:03 ... What a masterpiece by Danny Elfman!
Did you listen to that majestic ending?
Loved it since I was a toddler of 4... 🙂
30 years later, movie still rox
I really don't know why I get emotional over stuff like this. Every time!
I know he wasn’t in this, but…
Thank you Kevin Conroy.
This scene + superman flying over the Earth are the greatest endings to a superhero movie EVER
I 100% AGREE!!!! XD
***** well he's technically the prototype for all superheroes. And he has several weaknesses now, by the way.
***** Well besides kryptonite, he's weak to magic/mystic arts, psionic powers, red sun radiation, lead, massive physical forces like foes he fights that are from space like him such as General Zod or Darkseid, and sometimes electricity
It's no surprise you think he's a generic character, your assessment of him is based on ignorance. I guess that makes you a generic troll.
Ahsan Ali nobody was even talking to you, FanBitch. Get off my post lol
The music starting @2:02, with the last vision of him looking up to the signal, is perfection. This is the best Batman movie, hands down. I don't care what anyone says. Keaton, Burton, and Elfman did it best.
Still get chills for the music at the end.
He is vengeance, He is the knight, he our forever batman rip Kevin Conroy 🖤🦇🖤
Thanks for making me cry again, Fuck!
I cry every time :')
Its a beast Of ending " he gave us a signal" and was there already.
The biggest crime of this video is not letting the music continue as the credits roll
