Imagine showing up with your DCI band and talking about how much fun you’re gonna have and how you’ve seriously improved over Carolina crown and the blue devils....then you get in the stadium and find out the marines showed up because they were bored 😂
Irish_ Soldier124 -- Years ago my high school band marched in the Rose Parade. The band in front of us? You guessed it, the US Marine band. Five plus miles of them playing in front of us. Make it even worse was our band director started his career in the Marine Corps band. To compound our misery he ragged on and on for months with "do you remember how the Marines did this?".

I think if u study those drum rudiments and put it in a drum solo in a band, I know it will sound vary impressive. A press role into a triplet and into a parradidle. All with quarter notes on the bass drum

@@Fishermhm If I had to guess, it's probably to do with the respect that song has garnered as a corps tune. People clapping along treats it as a school fight song instead of a military piece with years of lineage behind it.

Comandants own
Field musics traditionally wore the opposite color of their unit. It made it easier for the commander to find his main mode of communication, and they were often young boys and not considered combatants, so you didn't shoot at the enemy's musicians.

Unlike the members of President’s Own band who don’t go to basic training, the members of this ensemble are real Marines who went to basic and can fight. Semper Fi from an old Air Force guy.

One of the places Drum and Bugle Corps people can go, after training as super athletes, musicians and team players, is the Commandant's Own. A nice thing to graduate to. Many others go on to be teachers, musicians or otherwise competent people in society.

Thank you for posting this video of such a professional marching musical unit, I marched with the Boston crusaders from 1977-1979 stars and stripes is definitely their trademark finishing tune, with the Marine hymn, the cadence reminds me of one of ours,stars and stripes is like our signatures of conquest, our corps song of giant, love to see tradition lives on, the tradition of excellence of people who wear their uniforms with much pride and care for music and great marching drills
They're really good. It just looks kinda weird to me because I'm used to seeing guard and props.
Makes me cry every time I watch them. So very proud of all that they do!

Tachibana excels in showmanship but nobody just nobody beats the Commandants own and the American high school bands in the Sousa Marches.They got more brass than a Roman Catholic cathedral.

It's a a shame that the D & B Corps dropped the majestic ending to "Star and Stripes" that COL Crawford arranged. I guess someone said to "play it straight". I've been involved in drum corps since I was 12 years old. I'm now 77. What do I know? The D & B Corps is still the Armed Forces' finest field musical unit!
I marched under Truman Crawford and we didn't always use it.

I belong to an drum corps that uses G Bugle in Japan. There are still about 20 teams use it in Japan
The Marine Drum and Bugle Corps was founded from the field music school at 8th and I to augment the Marine Band. They had a 2nd set of Bb bugles.
