    Norman Brown not only is a marveious jazz arties, but a beautiful and humble individual. I was fortunate to see him perform with several other amazing artist at The Birchmere. After the show, I had the opportunity to meet him and do a quick photo op. Now - some artist clearly do the "PR Stuff" because they have to. No with NB. His interaction as well as his daughter Rochella was genuine.

    Sounds of Blackness are music artists. And even if Norman Brown or any black person states their pride of being black is his or their unapologetic right. And anyones opinion should be mute...its his interview. He is an amazing artist!

    One thing he can do is make songs that feel good... I like to hear the guitar more than the singing but I understand he's trying to reach out to those who aren't so musical... He's the reason I ever picked up a guitar.. Make another after the storm CD!!! Lol

    @vampiroangelico The Sounds of Blackness started as an excellent theatre group rooted in singing historical songs of black people since the days of slavery. That's how they come to name themselves. Their old record company also felt the name would restrict their sales, and I'm sure it did, but they wanted to be true to the music they sing even while having more contemporary R&B songs on their cds. Maybe by singing with Norman, other groups of music lovers are now familiar with their repertoire.

    Norman was referring to the Grammy Award-winning vocal and instrumental ensemble group "Sounds of Blackness" and the fact that he collaborated with that group on his album. There's no racial issue here.

  • @trainmaster5000
    @trainmaster5000 14 лет назад

    @vampiroangelico I agree too. Music is a universal language and shouldn't be a white thing or a black thing. Its something we all share. Much love to all.

    The Sounds of Blackness is the name of a gospel group people! There is nothing on this video that he says about him being Black. Look up Sounds of Blackness here on RUclips, they should have some of their songs here.

    Music is to be loved by all people! But the sound is Blackness! You can like it, but you should respect where it come from. I'm sure you wouldn't say the same to a Mariachi musician or to a Celtic musician. Come on man just enjoy the music.

    • @Freewarrior2

      Sounds of Blackness is the name of the group. They are a gospel group.

  • @vampiroangelico
    @vampiroangelico 14 лет назад

    In my opinion that "sound of blackness" thing was very restrictive....the music of Norman Brown appeals to everyone, all races, all age ranges, anyone who needs some love and relaxing....not just "black people".

    • @Freewarrior2
      @Freewarrior2 4 года назад

      Umm, if you look at the video, Sounds of Blackness is the name of the gospel group. He wasn't being restrictive at all, he was just saying the group's name.

  • @vampiroangelico
    @vampiroangelico 12 лет назад +2

    I understand what you're saying, but I politely disagree with it. I personally don't find any reason to be proud of your race, since it is something you have no control over; you were born with it. Pride, to me, is being proud of something you have achieved, with your skills, with your knowledge. I am white, but I'm not proud of "being white". I am instead proud of who I made myself to be. I'm proud of being a musician, a guitarist, I am proud to be a business owner....my humble opinion. :-)

    • @travelingman9763
      @travelingman9763 6 лет назад

      Damn good statement. I've found major stupid .... in all races and I believe what you stated is more important! I'm pro truth!

    • @Freewarrior2
      @Freewarrior2 4 года назад

      Actually there's nothing wrong with being black, white, brown, etc. The problem is that people have placed value on particular races and created a hierarchy based on skin color. Historically people made white the highest form of humanity and black the lowest form. That's why you have people in the 60s start the Black power movement and you get the phrase "I'm Black and I'm proud." You have black folk trying to reclaim that humanity because for centuries it had been looked down upon due to placing a certain value on people's skin color.
