- Norman Brown released debut album "Just Between Us" from Motown Records' Jazz label, Mo Jazz in 1992. Collaborators included the chorus group Boyz II Men, the singer Stevie Wonder and also noted engineer and writer Kenneth H. Williams. A portion of the album was produced by Norman Connors, a jazz drummer and producer which discovered Brown. Brown released the album "After the Storm" in 1994, which gained critical success; he followed this with the 1996 release "Better Days Ahead" which earned him a broader audience. Brown transferred Warner Bros. Records. In 2000, he released Celebration, which was produced by Paul Brown.
In 2002, he formed BWB with saxophonist Kirk Whalum and trumpeter Rick Braun, and released Groovin'.
In 2003, he and his producer Paul Brown won Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album for 2002's Just Chillin'. This was followed by the 2004 release West Coast Coolin' .
During the summer of 2007, Brown had a No. 1 smooth jazz radio hit, "Let's Take A Ride," taken from the album Stay With Me, according to Radio and Records magazine.
In 2008, the Verve Music Group re-released ' "Just Between Us" ' as part of the "Verve Originals" Series.
His music can be heard during The Weather Channel's "Local on the 8s" segments and his song "Lydian" is included in their 2008 compilation release, The Weather Channel Presents: Smooth Jazz II.
He is currently an artist on Russ Freeman's label Peak Records.
In June 2010, Brown released a new album, "Sending My Love"
Miss the Smooth Jazz era late 90s- Early 2000s
I love this Song, player and band with aĺl my life !!
So much talent, love to watch him preform live. He really knows how to play those strings.👍👍
Fabulous ❤❤❤
Love this song has a smooth Caribbean feel to it! Norman is boss on that guitar!
Dam every time I listen to this jam it gets better
Ok that's it everything Norman Brown does is great!
Mr. Brown is great too....just listening to his guitar 🎸 is so sweet to our ears
Don't how I missed this guy...maybe, I heard his songs yet didn't know it was him. One of the quickest gittar playin' dudes I've heard while his mid to lower register notes AND style/segue of playing are unmatched by anybody - ANYBODY! I'm serious...he, literally, sounds like his singing chords instead of playing them! I see why he won a Grammy in '02.
Gracias.
Merci Chiqui Rodriguez de cette mise en ligne! très bon choix!
Sounds so beautiful indeed. Makes me want to take an exotic, romantic trip right now

I think he's better than George Benson for sure.
Wow...I didn't know the late Tommy Ford from sitcom Martin played bass? lol jk
you ain't got no job, man!
You're funny but right! I was going to ask if anybody knew his name because I've seen him with Chaka Kahn and After 7. He rocks that bass!
Great jam Brownie... So wish the sound was better on this.
No doubt he is on the level of George Benson.
The guy is gifted. I like him more than George Benson
George Benson got him in the vocals category though.
I do like norman brown dont get me wrong I have some of his cds but when it comes to real jazz music playing hes gets a low score. He plays his guitar more like jimi hendrix. who by the way is one of his idols. He just plays it like an electric rock guitar smothered with pop melodies. He doesnt hold a candle to George Benson.George Benson is a real jazz guitar player. George plays so jazzy he doesnt come out full throttle like norman brown throwing haymakers its just sophisticated playing.
Man you don't know what you're talking about but you have that opinion
dwight moore i agree with u...
WRONG.....Norman Brown is one of the BEST guitar players I've ever heard!!
Wrong!
I like the flavor he brings with his music. Instruments blend together creating a beautiful sound...
I didn't see it in the credits but this came from BET's jazz series... I kinda hate this style of soulless passionless jazz(although it's not really jazz) .. It's completely calculated.. absolutely no musical risks allowed... Norman Brown has great ability but is sidetracked by wanting to be a star instead of focusing on creating great music.. He's got the look, he's got the chops but corporate instrumental R&B with zero spiritual content is what you get when the business of music dictates your content... Norman Brown is too gifted to allow himself to be reduced formulaic empty sound.. I like Norman Though🤔
Benson copy. I prefer the original.
If u know jazz u know norman is not a real jazz musician
You're nuts every heard of acid
I know what you're saying, but most will miss the point you're trying to make. Neither Brown or Whittfield will ever be Benson or Wes. They have validity however, but there was already a George Benson so they haven't captured their own voice. I'm A jazz guitarist myself and have not reached the heights I strive for,BUT I do sound like me.
I totally agree, he don't have the upbringing most jazz guys have. Benson's talent and experience dwarfs Brown's, that's not to disrespect Brown. His style is not jazzy at all, he has his own style, he may have said Benson is his mentor but he plays nothing like him. He's still a good player but in no way do I link him with guys like Benson, Wes, Pass, Martino, Carlton or Ritenour.
