- 2007, Was a very successful year for guitarist Norman Brown. With over 200 concerts per years ever since and the release of his CD "Stay With Me" early the same year, reestablish him as one the most requested smooth jazz artist.
I was lucky enough to be selected by his record label to interview him in person and I couldn't resist to ask him about his connection and direct friendship with his hero and musical tutor, guitarist George Benson. This interview and live performance of Norman Brown, will tell you everything and even thing that you never knew about him.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it for you...
This Video features:
George Benson: Guitar
Norman Brown: Guitar
Gerald Albright: Alto Sax
Boby Lyle: Piano
Michael O'Neal: Guitar
Stanley Banks: Bass
Michael White: Drums
Mann.. Never dreamt I'd see George Benson and Norman Brown on the same stage playing together. I have almost all of George's albums and almost all of Norman's albums. From I first heard of Norman Brown back in 1994 I said to myself I'd love to see Norman and his mentor George Benson trading riffs and solos. Almost 30 years later look what I am experiencing!? Benson looks so happy alongside Norman and Norman never drop the ball. No ego displayed here, just true musicians at their A game.
Truly love this. 💯🙏🏾
True🤜🤛
First I've heard of Norman. Seems cool and enthusiastic; I like this guy. You can certainly see the GB influence - from the Ibanez to the classic George Benson style guitar strap, to some of his licks. But I like his attack; it's aggressive and fresh. One of the greatest things about GB is his acceptance of other players; his complete interest and excitement in other approaches. He's completely ego-less - and encourages young players of all styles. And why not; nobody is going to be another George Benson.
Hope you got your hands on the ''After the Storm'' ..Norman Brown album by now man.
So true.
I 1st saw Norman Brown on Video Jukebox back in the day......he had signed with Motown's Mojazz label.....they showed a concert of his "After the Storm" album.......I said to myself, "this is a serious guitar player here".......he brought Jimi, Wes, and George Benson into the modern times, but he put his own twist to it........😏
I. Hear you my brother
George and Norman? Out of this world y''all!!
Yes!!!! Awesome!!!!!
George looks so happy to have such a legitimate successor.
@Norman Brown you've been spamming that same scam all over the video comments. You're not Norman Brown, you're a con man.
Crazy!!!!!! I love how George made room for Norman's gift.
Two jazz guitar heavyweights in the same place at the same time. Fiyah!
Wow!!! This is priceless!!! Who would have thought they would see George Benson and BAND perform with Norman Brown, when they came to the concert that night???!!!!
Amazing how much energy they put into giving a performance while displaying their technical wizardry on the guitar... and they gotta bring it every night! Not an easy job...!
Incredible performance by incredible musicians, MUSIC MAGIC!

Norman Your the Best ! I watch th your videos everyday! That’s the love goes
Love it as it should be❤️ nothing but respect between fellow heavyweights!
Norman is great, musical, and energetic. George Benson is otherworldly. Norman fell to the ground during Benson's solo for a reason. Insane genius.
Wow, what a performance with four greats ~ wish I had been there!!!!!!
This guy has so much rhythm stuff going on while he plays, awesome
I wish my generation (age 19) understood this music..
Totally agree!
I can absolutely guarantee that loads of 19 year olds love this shit.
They gotta sit down and LISTEN.......ask themselves, "I wonder what was going on in his life during the time he made this album?", "who played on this cut?", "who's THAT cat?", "has he done anything else?", who's Charlie Chriatian? Kenny Burrel? Django Reinhart? Wes Montgomery? Joe Pass? Big Bill Broonzy? Hubert Sumlin? Buddy Guy? Otis Rush? T Bone Walker? Albert King, u know?🤔
Explore the "musical footprints", and go where they lead u.........😏
Ah Yeah!!! We are jammin' at the computer right along with you all ... Great Work! Now I am off to buy some more albums. Love the life you live and live the life you love ... that is the only thing we must do. Owwww!
They were cutting ✂️ it up for real awesome 👍
Unbelievable! I wish I could have been there to see these two in action!
There is levels here. Benson is just in the olympus of the greats.
The level of energy dissipated is something so amazing!

A great duo and and All Star Cast, just magnificent. Also the prequel to 24/7
Spettacolare 🤷♂️ solo guardarvi suonare si impara tanto. Bravissimo ❤️
I am glad the RUclips algorithm recommended this.
great and legendary guitarist
Greatness all over that stage WOW!
Love Norman and Love George!
Norman you were blazing the stage up
This made me smile, Norman's like, George is my hero so I learned all his licks... Understatement of the century. That's like saying, heh I like to sing so I took on Marvin Gaye. No one covers Marvin, least of all on his own song. George is a prodigy, arguably the greatest popular jazz player of all time, so I would say that at least makes Norman a genius for getting in the same ball park. A great talent he is. Thanks former the upload.
Show
Oooh, I wish I could have been there!
Good musicians, well done!
George was a such down to earth human being when I met him in him in his Breezin day!!
Two of my favorite musicians.
Ai George esse Norman quebra tudo muito bom...

Norman Brown in good. Very good. But there'll never be another George Benson. Never ever. As much as many try to imitate him there'll just never ever be another GB.

это нечто большее - это состояние души!) SUPER!!!
Everybody on this stage is a star in his own right...EVERYBODY!! It doesn't show it in this video, but if you love Smooth & Hot jazz & you don't know or have never experienced Brian Culbertson, you are missing something extraordinary man, I mean that! One day, before I leave this earth, I'd like to experience all these guys on the jazz cruise! That ticket is beyond special!
