First pair went up to 1400km before ANY sign of wear, after what one rod broke but I kept them for another 100km. Second pair is still in use after 900km and nothing to complain about at all. Love them.
250 miles, 4 marathons in mine and they are almost like new ! Very excited for the 4.. if they dial in that upper and the laces ( look like it from the pics) will be perfect.
I’ve got 267.4 miles in mine raced a 5 mile trail run in them and couldn’t believe how great they still are. Much better than the puma elite 2’s. Value for money these days.
Great review Andy. I just went over the 200 mile mark in a pair last weekend. It’s like the “workhorse of super shoes” for me. Not the softest, not the bounciest but just gets the job done. Fingers crossed 🤞 the rods stay intact for longer as I try to keep putting miles in it. Great review
Love this shoe so much, it's been my go to for my toughest days and even when things haven't gone well the shoe has always been there to slog it out, never had any issues other than the wonky fit
GREATLY appreciate such long-term reviews Andy, thanks so much!! They're still €200-250 here but thanks to your recommendation I'm gonna start keeping an eye out!!🙋♀
Yes keep an eye out Bev, we’ve had multiple occasions where it’s been around £150 and I’ve heard others use a discount on top to get them even cheaper!
I've seen other posters on here claim high mileage. I'd agree. I'm up to over 500 miles in my first pair and they are as respojsive as ever. I bought a 2nd hand pair of Boston 12s this week thinking they would be a daily version of the Pro 3s but they aren't a patch on the Pro 3s. So I'm on the look out for a 3rd pair. Great for long run workouts and races
Run in mine 650km. Washed 5 times in washing machine. The foam was still good, no holes or any visible wear in upper. Outsole had visible usage but still in really good condition. And in such condition I sold them for 45eur Really nice shoes and if you are lucky you can wear them for 1000km or even 1200km
I ran one marathon in this shoe any than I put It in my long runs and now It reach 300 km with the same pop and little wear. Adidas definetely fixed durability issues that v2 had. Great video Andy!
Makes you wonder what the rods are actually doing for us if you think the shoe still feels fine with broken ones. As I recall with adidas sizing your foot length (being I think 30.5 cm so a bit longer than my 30.2 cm) is then right on the mark of what adidas suggest for a UK 13.5 (US 14) so not surprised some shoes in that size are a bit short for you. It's fine for me. Just checked and done 240 miles in mine but that's now over 2 years and so it is a shoe I tend to now wear now and again. Find it just a bit too heavy for an out and out race shoe but yeah for some intervals and indeed long runs it does a good job and does indeed still seem to be holding up well. That said never quite know how it really compares to a new pair as don't have one. That would be a good test versus a pair with broken rods. Think I would be worried that might then be effecting my gait in seemingly already a shoe where your foot is not quite in the intended place.
Yeah I do worry it might affect my gait too, but I honestly can’t feel a difference other than an annoying click! Compared to other shoes in the supershoes category, it’s definitely on the heavier end of the spectrum… but as a long run and DT shoe, it’s proving to be extremely useful!
@@TheFODRunner if they weren't so tight on your feet you could have tried out those insoles with the carbon plate that Goran Winblad was using on his Everesting vid. I would worry a piece of carbon rod works its way through the foam, but I'd also keep running in them...
I LOVE the midsole but have a lot of problems with the comfort of the upper. (Tendon issue because of rubbing upper, painfull laces, slipping heel) The outsole got loose after 200km (glued it back several times) and now I got a big tear in the side of the upper after 400km. I hope I can get a second pair with discount and hope the new model will have a beter fit.
I bought a pair today for the more natural feeling you talked about I have Nike carbon plate shoes I like but they tend to control how I run if you know what I mean first pair addidas carbon plate I've bought.
Curious why you seemed to have pronation issues in the Takumi Sen, but not the Pro. You'd almost think the Pro would be worse with the higher stack of the same foam. My TS8's are at 440km, are still going strong and are WAY more versatile than people give them credit for distance wise.
Good review Andy ty. How do these hold up on gravel trails? I run mainly in the new forest on gravel fire roads and I know you run on similar surfaces.
Yeah great buddy, all my LRs are on that sort of surface and they’ve been great! All I’ll say is, like most higher stacked shoes, when it gets a bit bumpy they can roll the ankles a bit!
Up to 336 miles in one pair. Marginal drop off in performance, but midsole and rods holding strong. Noticing some outsole wear and the upper has developed a hole. Reckon they'll get to 400 as a training shoe, probably wouldn't race them now
I only got 100 miles out of mine before the rubber on the heel had worn down completely so there was none left. I don’t know if that’s because I’m a heavier runner. Only used them for road races.
It's funny how some shoes work for one runner and not another. I find the pro 3 is second to none, mine have 300 miles on them and are fine but obviously some soul rubber is worn away without affecting the ride . My Adidas SL's where so bad they where painful to run in , they had NO CUSHIONING at all . SL2's are very food 👍
Like the heel tab trick - just started doing that to mine as the stitching was causing serious blisters. Regarding the rods - had a broken one on some 2nd hand Adios Pro 2 (from @TimGrose) and lasted ages without causing any injury. For comparison with the Pro 3 - mine (one of many pairs) has over 900k and is still going strong. Lightstrike Pro and the upper/outsole combo seems to go on forever!
Love mine, although still prefer the 2 with better shaped toe box and not so bulky. So many shoes would be so much better if they were just built on a slab of Lightstrike Pro.
I've the pro2 and pro3, the pro3 has two bands that runs from the front of the shoe to the laces, which the pro2 doesn't. Lost a toenail because of it on the pro3 so will probably cut a hole like you did as its an excellent midsole
Yes those bands are the bits of material that went across the top of my big toe, since cutting that hole that band isn’t as tight and it’s been a game changer
Managed 400+ in mine before I sent them on - for me, the grip started wearing through towards the end - funny how people get different problems with the same shoe, I assume it’s different running styles, terrain, weight etc.?
400+ is great! Yeah different running form will do it… some are lighter on their feet than others too… “cadence” runners tend to glide a bit more than “stride” runners like me
537km so far. No wear. I found upper really difficult to get right when lacing up but eventually got used to it. Faster long run shoe it is perfect. It’s not obtrusive and it’s stable - didn’t like at first, now think the opposite
My Adidas adios pro 3 has 140 km and is like new. I only use it for competitions and time trials. Mine is a size 12 US and it fits a little loosely in the toe box. I think I can get 200 km out of it.
