    Agree with all of this and confirm to go a half size up. Felt fine in workouts, but my big toes slamming into that bumper paid the price by the end of the Berlin Marathon. Definitely comes even more alive the faster you go, pretty fun shoe in that respect! - R

      No issues with the Evo SL in terms of going true to size or is it better in the end to go up half size with the one as well? The limited release it coming later this month.

    Good review!!!
    Have a feeling pro 4 will be softer, faster and more aggressive
    Love pro 3, as heavier more muscular than typical runners its perfect cruiser for me, dream if they put new upper on pro 3 midsole and called 3.5 😅

    The review i was looking for! Balanced, honest, objective. Thanks. Need some stability for pronation in later miles of a marathon, so will stick to the v3 (and VFN2 for 5/10k). Thanks again Matt

    The only channel that tells me what supershoes work best for my arch/ medial ankle support needs. I guess I’ll stick with Adios Pro 3. Also Endorphin Elite are my all time favorite marathon shoes, and I bought those based on your recommendation. So there’s definitely a good amount of trust I place in your videos.

  • @AD-it3yn
    @AD-it3yn 2 дня назад +3

    I ran a marathon this past week in the Pro 4 (not in Berlin) with a time of 2:39, and I can confirm that these shoes are very aggressive. Unlike the Pro 3's, which are versatile enough for both training and racing, I would reserve the Pro 4's strictly for race day. I'm planning to buy a few more pairs of Pro 3's for training, as I find the Pro 4's best suited for peak performance (this may change).
    If you're a runner with a bouncy, supple running style and gait, the Pro 4's will complement that. However, where I felt they might fall short is in mid-foot stability, similar to the Pro 2’s, especially with the cut-out section on the bottom. That said, the outsole is a dream for runners-offering great traction and even handling light gravel with ease. I really appreciate the improvements in the pro 4s
    For me, these shoes seem ideal for a fast half marathon, although I did use them for a full marathon. They really started to warm up in the second half of the race. So far, I’ve put about 50km into them, including the marathon, and I might update my thoughts once I’ve logged more mileage.

    Thanks Matt, the Pro 3 has probably been my favorite plated shoe so I'm looking forwards to the 4 (also the hoodie is sweet). I guess I am getting tired of this "we are going to release 50 pairs so we can get around world athletics and the rest of the people have to wait" thing, Saucony did it with the Endorphin Elite 2, Adidas is doing it with the Pro Evo 1 and now this (and the Evo SL but that's different), I mean come on, the rest of us have marathons this fall too

    Won’t be rushing out for the 4 since the 3 is almost perfect and if the 4 lacks the stability of the 3 then that could be an issue… traction on the 3 on wet rainy roads was awesome, my go to shoe for wet races as was like a ninja cheating code ….

  • @brentg2792
    @brentg2792 3 дня назад +1

    Great vid. Used 3 in long training runs and some daily mileage to protect legs during block. Bruising from lace bite and traction an issue. Midsole versatile enough to use well below marathon pace which outweighed the negative of it underperforming at 5k pace. Glad to see a better outsole while dropping weight. Hopefully that tongue improved as well. Nike AF 3 would be hard to supplant as marathon racer.

    Yeah the more i run in my saucony pro 4 the more i notice that mid foot cut out on the pro 3. I think 15 miles plus it really tires my ankles.

    Great detailed and honest review as always! How is the heel counter compared with Takumi Sen 8-9, Boston 12 and Adios 8? Those worked great for me, but Adios Pro 3 shredded back of my Achilles to blisters. How is the midsole ride and bounce compared to Deviate Nitro Elite 3?

    • @therunophil
      @therunophil 2 дня назад +1

      I wonder about the heel too, Pro 3 (as well as Prime X Strung) gave me terrible blisters in the heel, which I never had before (Takumi Sen 9) was ok. But if v4 is less wide in the forefoot that may rule it out for me anyways.

    • @matthanna1980
      @matthanna1980 2 дня назад +1

      The rough stitching in my Pro 3 did the same to my achilles. Just fold the little heel flap inwards, and it covers the rough stitching and blisters should be no more. I've now got 1300km out of mine, but wanted to throw them away when I had the heel rub issue.

    I ran two Comrades in the Pro3s, where the stability saves you in the later stages of the ultra. But prefer the Pro2 for marathon and 21s as they are easier to maintain speed in. It sounds like the Pro4s are more similar to the P2s?

  • @brianreiter5572
    @brianreiter5572 3 дня назад +1

    I have size 13 feet and the AP3 is noticeably on the too heavy side for a race shoe. The AP4 should be in the ballpark of 240g rather than 280g and that puts it back to the weight of a Zoom Streak 7 or a Vaporfly which is where it needs to be. Interestingly the Takumi Sen 10 is also 240g in my size.
    I have AP3 with a lot of life left in them but eventually I will get the AP4.

    • @matthanna1980
      @matthanna1980 2 дня назад

      I have UK13 (US14) feet, and completely agree. This is the primary reason I use the Pro 3 more as a trainer, and the Vaporfly (V1 or V2) as my racer. For me, it's 250g Vs. 290g, so easy decision. Looks like the Pro 4 will address that.

    What is the rocker/toespring like? When I tried the AP3, I felt the transition was rather unnatural, very on/off sort of feeling - unlike most other supershoes I tried, where the rocker feels a lot more gradual and a lot less noticeable. Based on photos of AP4, it looks like the toespring angle is reduced a bit and the tipping point of the rocker is smoothed out - but I wonder how much you can actually feel it in reality.
