The CVT of this vehicle is really jerky especially at low speed. It doesn't feel comfortable at all. It feels like it is the engine braking and the change of speed is so abrupt. You can feel it too when in cruise control and the vehicle needs to slow down. As for the suspension, I can say this is by far the most "tagtag" car that I have driven. Me and my passengers agree that it was like we're on a massage chair after a 4-hour long drive. You can feel all the bumps on the road. Overall it is a pretty good car with all its features. For future buyers though, don't fall for all the bells and whistles and looks. Toyota errrr Daihatsu is cutting corners on some of those features.

we are thinking of getting this or the corolla altis grs... if we will choose the 1.5 liter engine this yaris cross is all out on the features (among the raize, avanza & veloz). but then again this is a daihatsu platform. if the corolla altis it definitely rides better than the 1.5 engine (altis got the 1.8 liter) and its a true toyota platform. value wise i think the toyota platforms will hold much longer. but the yaris cross is also nice for its high ride height being a subcompact SUV car. torned apart which model to get. driving experience is a big factor but the exterior and interior of this yaris cross is not bad at all...

Among your three choices, we’d go with the GAC GS3 Emzoom which also made it to our top five favorite cars from last year ( theautoph.com/f-2024-1/ ). It’s the most feature-packed among your choices, and drives the best as well, plus it’s quite a looker.
The Geely Coolray is already showing its age and lacks many features that come as standard on the GAC GS3 Emzoom and on the Toyota Yaris Cross V and S HEV variants.

Sa ngayon, I'm thinking of a Corolla Cross, or the BR-V. for next year---sana the Corolla Cross releases asap para matingnan if there's any issues/recalls, and then give it one year na "no problem" then that's it.

My observations are nakabilad ang oto ko sa araw for 5 years but my paint looks mighty fine, my interior and dashboard still looks brandnew, my car never stalled, super spacious and matipid sa gas. Plus the handling is superb. Nice and light sa city speeds but gets weighted sa highways. My brother has a 2020 Toyota Altis and I couldn't say the same sir. Honda also requires PMS every 6 months or 10k kms whichever comes first. Nagulat ako na ang Toyota Altis ni brother ko every 5k kms na tapos nung 1k kms na pinadala niya sakin sa Toyota Casa at may change oil na? 4 visits a year is not so convenient for me.

Parang bago padin. It has superb handling also. It's nice and light in city driving but becomes weighted on highways. The interior pansin ko kahit sa ibang units even though hard plastics are abundant, the materials they use seem like great quality plastics. It's even smells good. Plus the 6 months or 10k kms whichever comes first PMS is very convenient for me. May I ask why BR-V? Why not HR-V which is a direct counterpart of Corolla Cross?

I just want to ask, what car are you comparing the interior with? Lamborghini Urus? Ford Everest? I mean the interior is plastic sure, but I am pretty sure most pilipinos don't mind hard plastics. and knowing the expensive shipping cars to ph. and companies cutting down the features, its pretty understandable why Asia cars are like this, well, except for countries that are well off themselves like Singapore and China.
Although it is understandable to HATE Daihatsu after what happened to them, or what drama stirred up of them. especially knowing they're not known to be as good as Toyota made, even though they are the producers of parts for other companies.
rest of my thoughts would be under this comment.

    • @AutoPH
      @AutoPH  6 месяцев назад

We’re comparing the interior quality with its rivals like the Honda HR-V and Nissan Kicks which both have plasticky interiors as well, but much better quality at a similar price.

    • @aiztoh

As for the "Telescopic Steering wheel" that's more on the drivers arm reach and leg length. car already gives you options to adjust steering wheel and chair. And the "Infotainment Display" it's not a Ford Ranger, it's not best graphics? I mean it's just there for Android auto and apple CarPlay and radio and call. This is more of a personal preference.
The physical buttons are personal preference as well.
The "Reverse annoying sound" is there for a reason to "some" drivers to be weary that they are in reverse. Toyota had to add that because they are aware of unaware drivers and don't want them to blame Toyota for not putting any safety feature to alert them that they are in reverse. remember that Asian family car who can't brake because of the carpet stuck on gas pedal? kind of far to topic but you get the point, it's like that Montero sport reverse problem.
Although the "360 cam" I agree, just like in my friend's Honda civic RS cam, it is 144p quality, but hey he can see bikers and people that are getting too close to his car when turning left or right. The bottle cover idea is great. but knowing Toyota, they thought of everything, but not the everything. I've seen lots of reviews of Toyota, and if they are known for one thing, it's that they are reliable, but not comfortable.
Before you hate The "Yaris Cross CVT" maybe do more research on what kind of CVT Yaris Cross is using compared to other CVT? maybe that can clear the irritation of that jerkiness at around 20kmph moving to 22kmph or more? I mean it will still jerk at 50kmph or more? but that's just on your control of your foot, maybe you're a little too harsh. HRV is a great option, knowing how much pros that car has, oh man, it's also sporty, so power wise, it delivers. Especially in features.
The "Steering wheel problem" has been experienced across all Daihatsu build but in the name of Toyota. "Road and wind noise" is a major problem with the Marites out there, they have sensitive ears that's why the car needs to be a Mercedes car so they can hear all the gossip in town. As for the "engine refinement" that's what you expect out of Daihatsu build, or even Toyota build. As I said, their known for reliability, durability and longevity, but not for their comfort, including that. The fact that you say that the "power is lackluster" makes me think you just rode a sports car before reviewing Yaris Cross. but a 4-cylinder, 100+ HP not enough for 1.5k weight vehicle? then that means Toyota underdelivers in horsepower and torque.
I still wonder what car you are using to compare the cars you are reviewing, because the "stomach in the plastic interiors" is absurd. Still a personal preference instead of a con.
