Nice comparison. I have 3 Otto Link metal pieces, Berg Larsen, Old Selmer C** and a Steve Brodhaus 3S. Currently shopping thinking about the Link Tone Edge you played. Both the Link and the Ishimori sounded great. I didn’t hear a $300 difference.
Hey man this was a great comparison. I loved my tone edge I used to play at my old school it was a great first "real" non beginner piece for me. Anyway I was wondering when or if you were going to make a dedicated video for that Aibay mouthpiece from amazon. based on what you said in your 2019 video I just had to get one and I played it for about 3 hours today and can honestly say its my favorite mouthpiece I have ever played. It needs more popularity in my opinion. I would not know half the stuff I do about mouthpieces and altissimo playing and all that. You are a serious asset to the saxophone community. Also if you are still reading I am working on making my own 3d printed mouthpieces so if that ever took off I would love for you to give one a try.
@@Sirvalorsax definitely. If I'm not mistaken the metal ones should be fine as metal is metal and you can clean them pretty darn well. All in all tho I love the aibay piece I got.
got a warehouse otto link for 70 bucks.they sent a 5* instead of the 5 ordered. coming from a yamaha 4c should i spend new money to get a 5 or keep the 5* ?!
Tone edge is really just a great all around mouthpiece. Great video. You’re my go to guy on mouthpieces, so how would you describe the difference between the NY link and the STM?
Thanks for your reply. When I order this mouthpiece from Ishimori, I will get a box of #3 Wood Stone reeds as these are the closest in strength to the #2.5 red Java.
Fantastic Adrienne! This is matt’s friend jd goldberg. Enjoying your vids as usual . My friend in Columbus just traded me a wood stone smooth metal alto mouthpiece. I’m really enjoying it and now you got me curious about their tenors😂 you sounded phenomenal on both but I really like your sound and playing on the ishamori steel ebonite! Have you tried their metal alto smooth model . I’m digging it
Would a Vandoren ZZ or V16 be a good match for Otto Link Tone Edge 6* mouthpiece to keep a dark, warm tone? I'm getting mine in the mail today and trying to decide on a good reed. Thanks
Sirvalorsax, have you done a comparison using a Eastern Music mouthpiece? the brand seems to have a good acceptance within sax players, some of them actually consider the saxes to be a good-low priced substitute; the brand also offers some customized saxes. Anyhow , I wonder about the mouthpieces. Is saxes are so good, for a low price, What about the mouthpieces?
I have never been able to differentiate the different reed of red boxes of different or other colors., nor do I understand that a mouthpiece has more value than a saxophone
It wasn't so 20 years ago. Nowadays there are good playing saxes from China that cost less than mouthpieces. The reeds are cut differently to more appropriately match the style of music and desired sound
@@Sirvalorsax thank's. What affordable or cheap chinese curved soprano sax would you please advise ? This would be for a young kid :) an alto a too huge for my son.
@@laurentvenet2758 I have essentially written off all of the cheap Chinese products that I can't research easily via the internet. There are too many unknowns for me to feel comfortable making recommendations. So much so, I've taken my reviews down of the products that I bought.
Ishimori for sure. The company manufacturing Link is Babbitt. They are the guilty party in sending poorly made " Link" mouthpieces on the market for the unsuspecting beginning or amateur players. I think it is a shame for Babbitt to ruin the name of Otto Link.
If the bore of the mouthpiece is too small then open it up with abrasive paper , 120 grit or so . wrapped around a 15mm diameter .dowel of wood ,gently and slowly removing material . Or ask a technicien who'l charge you £5 or less. Simple job .Talking about buying a new neck to solve the issue is madness. 17.3 mm is about correct and average for a tenor .Or send it to me to do . 5 minutes at most !! Peace Jonny UK
Love your videos they’re “absolutely phenomenal” 😁
Thanks

With Ishimori, you sound incredible.
Thanks
Excellent !
J’aime les deux becs ,perso j’aime otto link tone edge ,dommage qu’un travail de surface est nécessaire pour avoir un bec efficace…
Your mpc reviews are real informative. Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks. And yeah...Ishimori, although the Tone Edge isn't bad either.
Thanks
Thanks for videos

I'm still investigating the Chinese mouthpieces. I love the design of the Yibuy pieces but I need more info on them.

too bad runyon isnt around anymore. would love your comments on those models
..i kind of liked the tone edge. great videos
Cool, thanks
Ishimori sound great!
Great comparison video! I really like the measurements of the mouthpieces. Maybe next time we can get more dimensions?
Thanks!
Thanks for the tips on video ideas
Hey mate,
Just thought I’d let you know that Ishimori has at least one 6* available on their website if you are still interested.
Tone edge is really just a great all around mouthpiece. Great video.
You’re my go to guy on mouthpieces, so how would you describe the difference between the NY link and the STM?
Thanks. I don't have all those pieces ….yet.
Thanks for posting that video. The difference in quality is pretty stark. Did you use a red java 2.5 in the other Wood Stone video too?
Yes. Vandoren Redbox 2.5

It's for sale
Could you by any chance do a review on the new metal Florida mouthpieces that Ottolink released to celebrate their 100th Anniversary?
I will look into it

Have you tried and Ishimori metal mouthpiece? And can we get a review?
I was looking into one when I bought the hard rubber but I didn't get it. I am curious though

Sir I feel ishimori sounds bright and the sound doesn't spread.
😅 dono much how you felt about it but from my side the vote goes to Ishimori ❤️

I sell quite a few mouthpieces if I don't play them for a long time so I limit the amount of adjusting I do to them
