    I made this several days ago & though I did need to watch the tutorial to figure out how to do the stitching into the SIDES of the stitch - completely new to me & I LOVE THE EFFECT - it came out beautifully. It took me about 7 hours, even having to count over & OVER to be certain I was getting it right on my first cowl. I should have gone back to watch the braiding because that part is especially important. I could tell I braided the shorter strand about one round too tight by the way it laid once completed. So - anyone making this, braid lightly. But came out BEAUTIFULLY!!! I did not use a button - those of us with long hair, curly...etc - the last thing we want is a button for our hair to wrap around. I simply slip-stitched the 2 ends together - but be sure it isn't going to be difficult for whomever is going o wear it - can get it on & off without mussng hair. My daughter LOVES it. I will be making a wheelbarrow of these!!!!

    Very much like your teaching style. Let me tell you for over 20 yrs Ive battled major depression. One of the first desires to go is crafting specially crocheting. FINALLY on the right meds. Im chrocheting again! Wanting to chrochet the perfect xmas gifts for the women in family. Not just the same old scarf. Even though they would like that. Im so happy to have found this cowl pattern. Family will really appreciate this gift. You and the woman that shared this have made me so happy. Promise I will be thinking of you xmas 2016.

    I thought you did a great job and even with your fubar of not connecting the four bars the first time, you explained it so well that I was able to know exactly what to do (keep them connected) BEFORE I made any mistakes. I finished this cowl in just a few hours. I followed along with no problem and a couple of times, I even thought you went a bit slow, but then I've crafted (crocheted) for years. (lol) I just did mine in tones of blue. The smaller braid is a variegated hue of blues and the larger braid is a solid powder blue yarn that matches nicely with one piece of the variegated. I had no problem following along. Thanks! This made a wonderful gift for my daughter this X-Mas and was quick and easy.
    p.s. Don't let the negative comments get to you... some people are visual learners and others need to read a pattern to be able to create a craft. :)

    Heyyy, I see a lot of people giving you trouble about the way you explained the video. The first time I watched I WAS confused and I started to write a comment saying how confused I was BUT I also make tutorials and people tell me I don't explain things accurate sometimes when I really felt like I did a good job explaining it but they aren't paying attention enough to understand it. So I rewatched it and really focused on it along with following along with the written pattern and it made all the sense in the world! Could it have been explained better, yes, BUT it's definitely still follow alongable! Great job and great pattern

    Thank you for the very thorough video! Mine turned out great, although I cheated with one of the yarns (I used a highlight color on two strips). It was a thinner weight and separated more easily so I used the edge loop instead of the center loop you're supposed to grab on the third row (in the three strand part) and it's virtually indistinguishable :) Another tweak is adding another button so it can also have the option of a snug fit. Will definitely do it again!

      depends on the size hook and yarn. I would just "eye ball it" keeping in mind that it will be braided so will loose some of it's length, so make it longer than you want the finished length to be.

    I am making this right now along with you. Thank GOODNESS for your tutorial. I'd be so confused without seeing you do this live. My daughter (27 yo) is travelling to Kyrgzystan for her work and I am making this for her to wear- and then give to one woman while she is there. So that something I made can be in this amazing country! I just wanted to tell you how meaningful it was. Also- I am completely amazed at your accent. Just when I think it's southern, you sound British or Canadian. Do tell us- where does your accent come from? It's great!
    EDIT: I just followed your website and see that you are from Oklahoma living in Israel! How wonderful- can't wait to tell my daughter. She was just in Tel-Aviv this Fall! I wondered why you had that centimeter tape measure! :-) Thank you again.

      +Andrea Galyn Thank you for your comment, it's very rare that I get to hear what people plan to do with some of the designs made from this channel. Yes I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I do sometimes throw in other accents when I am trying to be silly, maybe this is where I confused you hehe. I tried my whole life to try and not have an accent, I would hear people on TV with such thick accents and I always got the impression as a teenager that people thought us southerns sounded like "hicks" but now that I live out here in Israel, I've learned that is a very rare accent out here and people really like it. Now i'm happy I have one lol, funny how things turn out :D

    Hi and thank you for this tutorial. I somehow ran up on this pattern via My Hobby Is Crochet. I've completed the braid but I have a question for you. I believe the pattern calls for 1 1/2 yards to be used to connect the braid. I saw you roughly measure out this amount but I never saw you stitch the braid together on the back. Instead you went straight to adding yarn at the ends of the braid where it calls for sc, sc2tog, sc across all 4 bands, etc., to make it look like the other end. So I am a little confused. Are the braids supposed to be stitched together on the back or not? I know I am years behind in making this but I just found the pattern. Thank you for making the video and for offering any help with my question. Happy New Year.

    Mom and I fell in love with this design but we ran into a couple problems that I would like some help on. We would chain the same amount but ended up with different lengths and since we felt that working on the slanted stitch was complicated we changed it to working on the back ridge DC. Can you give us feedback on this dilemma? Thanks in advance

    • @Meladora1
      @Meladora1  8 лет назад

      +Angela Lopez Everyone crochets at different tightnesses. It's always best to make a gauge using a few different size hooks to get the size you're after. If you wanna match up, you both could make one. If working in the back ridge DC helps then do it, just make sure your texture shows up on the right side

    Very nice pattern....but I don't see how you are placing the braids...is it 69, 85, 69,85 or 69, 69, 85, 85 when you join? Can someone tell me.

      Begin by following the pattern and then once you got it started the video may make more since to you. I can't tell you in a comment better than showing it to you on video or showing you the pictures.

      +Meladora's Creations for Crochet thanks for your reply....you should mention that 4 ropes of the same size go together...in the video it seems like you are saying start with a rope of 70 and 86...as if they are put together....especially for us beginners that have not quite grasp reading patterns and watch videos for guidance...i completed it but my first rope was tied together with short & long chain
