Doctor, you have produced a terrific video here. I have peripheral neuropathy from Guillain Barre Syndrome 21 years ago. I also didn't know until last May 2017 that I had diabetes. I had developed large bunions on both feet on the sides. On the left foot, it formed a huge blister that bled out and I have been trying to get the wound to close since late may 2017. I am now under the care of podiatrist and wound specialist but there remains about a half of a dime sized wound. I have tried to put life on hold to allow for closure but i admit I do some walking and putting pressure on it. I have walked din surgical shoe for 8 months. I would love to see your 9 points, and thank you again for this video.

WOW.....Dr. Pelto, i'm amazed at your honesty, everything you say is true. Its taken me years to learn the little i've learned about health, trying to sift through books, videos, blogs, other peoples info, doctors info, etc. I was an addict for years, I was far behind most others about life in general when I stopped. I have had so many not so great doctors for me, kids, an spouse......we still have alot of the symptoms we had when going to doctors. I only wish EVERY doctor were as great and honest as you are Dr. Pelto........thanks for this info an God bless!!

Excellent advice doc. Thank you! I'm not diabetic but just got a deep wound and am trying to find ways to best heal. I keep clean and protected by day and open throughout the night not to walk on it. Blessings. Doctors are supposed to teach people to also care for themselves.

Wow! I cannot stress how helpful this video was for me! I have the utmost respect for people like you, who have a head full of useful knowledge and a heart that wants to help. I have had paper-cut style wounds on 2 toes and both feet. I'm staying in Brazil right now, so it's hot and I'm always barefoot. I wash my feet excessively, and I dry them out & moisturize them every now and then. Nothing seems to be helping. The ONLY thing I haven't done so far, is wear shoes and socks. I'm ALWAYS barefoot, and the floors are filthy and rough here. Back home in Portland, Oregon, I always wore shoes & socks, and I NEVER had any foot problems, so I'm gonna try that and see what happens. I'm also a sugar-addict, so I will be sure to cut sugar out of my diet for a while. ;) Again, thank you SO much for making this helpful video! I have the willpower to take care of my wounds, I just need people like you who can educate me on the matter, first....... So yeah, I really appreciate it! You're a hero, Donald. :)

I am not diabetic, but do have Senseory Peripheral Neuropathy. I have a foot ulcer that has been going on for 21/2 years opening and closing. Just went to a new doctor stated Osteomyelitis in the bone. Had surgery Debrided removed portion of bone that was infected and sealed bone with some type of surgical glue and a pic line was placed in interior of upper arm and placed on two types of antibiotics (Vancomycin and Cefepime) for a seven week period. Wound vac was placed on bottom of foot for approximately 9 weeks until there was no more depth to wound. Doctor now placed me on wet to dry, with a change once a day. Was given a shoe to off load weight from front of foot. Have stayed off foot approximately 95% of the time. I'm hoping things close and stay closed for the first time in 21/2 years. My uncle is a diabetic. Recently discovered a wound on his heel with foreign bodies. These have since been removed. The wound has turned into a sinus. He is getting ALOT of pain since starting treatment. I am an RN and i told his to use solugel to keep it moist. His doctor is using iodosorb to keep it dry so he has been going with his doctors advice. It seems to be getting worse and pain is unbearable now going up his leg to his groin. Do you have any suggestions?

Is this the same for leg ulcers?
there is many ways to heal those foot wounds like using honey, activated charcoal which starts the healing process immeaditly, silver, many herbs that increase healing like dragons blood tree sap and many more. doctors don't want us to know about most of these as they tend to loose money if the patient treats themselves or sees a homeopathic doctor but some times its the only way to get wounds to heal. low amounts of electricity helps speed up healing as well.

This psuedo science is dangerous to put your hopes on. Nothing is proven scientificly and some of these can be detremental. You should trust your doctors, they are trying to help you.

Here is some solid advice having "been there."
Get a good wound cleanser and use it each day.
Wash the wound in warm water every other day, dry well.
Get some Manuka medical grade honey and apply it twice a day, in the morning and at bed time.
Dress the wound two days a time with sterile gauze after you applied the honey.
I purchased the wound cleanser and honey on Amazon.
The honey is the KEY nothing worked for me until I used that.

I ran an average of 20 Niles a day for 50 year's. One day 5 years ago while running I hit my head on a low tree limb. I thought to myself I hit that hard. This is gonna cause me problems. I linked and stumbled last two miles home. Be I fell on the ground in my back yard where I live a y two days before someone saw me and called 911. Ambulance arrived and soon knocked on door of my house to tell my roommate I was dead. I was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. I regained consciousness later that day. I did not realiZe how serious NY condition was. A Dr discussed NY condition with family. I spoke up saying bring me the release papers to as ifn. I'm leaving. I promply noticed strange expressions on everybody's Dace. The Dr said adamantly your going nowhere. You can't walk. You will spend rest your life in this hospital. At that time I could not grasp the meaning of what he was saying. I had spent most the days of my life running from sunup to sundown. He repeated his diagnosis. I thought oh my God you didn't even give me a chance to try. A few days later I got my chance and I thought oh my God what if he's right

Hi, I have the same problem, I am 62 so it takes along time for things to heal. With that being said, my sore started out as a mosquito bite. I have tried everything and have been to so many Doctors its not even funny, It seems nada is helping. Please donot use Hydro peroxide on a open wound for a long period of time, it can cause your foot and leg to look like its a burn. I am still dealing with it. Good luck, let me know if you were able to get your wound to heal

Paul Thompson warm water with salt soak to bring blood to surface. Salt helps to clean out the wound.
