Oh Wow Janey! All I can say is I your magnificent garden. It is filled with so many gorgeous plant varieties at different stages of maturity, making your garden very interesting and pleasing to to the eye. You have a knack of floral colour blending without ever becoming too rigid in your choice of colour, texture, shape and size of your plants. You have a wonderful imagination Janey that has lead you to compose an exquisite garden, and you are not afraid to give something a go! Having lots of differing plant varieties is a great idea. Not only does it make it interesting to walk around and view, but it is also environmentally friendly to native animals.🦉🦎Did you know that plant variety also makes your garden less appealing to pests and disease? They have trouble locating the plant that they want; yes, it is quite confusing for them. I am sure that the birds, butterflies, 🦋ladybirds 🐞and especially bees, 🐝all look forward to coming to your garden every day. 🌻🥀🌳They must feel safe as there are so many resting and hiding places for them. Oh yes, I love your cute dog, Stanley. We don't see him much anymore. I miss him, but love seeing your rabbits🐇
Janey! When you Grimm those sweet potato vines, pop the ends of the cuttings in soil or in a jar of water. If you put them in water, the very next day you will see that they have already pushed roots!!! Magical!
That’s funny with the dog! We are building a side garden with a gate to keep the dogs out because the first year I planted squash, our dogs were digging up the plants and eating the roots, 😂. They would be eating the blueberries and strawberries too. Also, the bougainvillea grows really well in the desert of AZ. They less water they get, the more massive the blooms are. You can probably do without any water on the bougainvillea at all. Maybe you can put trays under your pots to catch the water runoff. Your yard is so gorgeous❤❤❤ I really love how your shade corner is now💕
So funny about your strawberry thief! You could make a garden cloche out of bird netting or chicken wire to go over the strawberries. Or you can just let him enjoy his treats 😂
Hi, beautiful garden. Question for Q&A . Could you please share "exact recipe" what you did with your piones during winter months, how much ice you put , how often, how long. Thank you.
You and I live in the same area and my garden is also doing extremely well this year. I honestly think our gardens are flourishing from all the rain they received this past winter 💕💕💕
Beautiful! I have found that hydrangeas want waaay more water than you would imagine-I'd double up on their water to keep them from scorching during the summer heat.
Hey Janey. Just need to say that you are an inspiration to us all! You have grown so much as a gardener and it is such a pleasure to watch you continue to grow between giving garden tours, speaking in front of large groups, live planting presentations, being part of “the garden tour” and now designing gardens for people…its just amazing to watch!!! Sending lots of love. Keep on growing!!! 💚🌸🌻🌿🌺. Oh and for the corner where your bench is…maybe adding layers with a few tall plants (fence height) in the back might bring it together and feel more cohesive with the rest of your beautiful garden. Maybe more cozy too. Enjoy your day Janey!
There is feed catchers that attach to the feeders that catch the extra feed that they drop. I just switched to only sunflower seed for my feeders. Also if u put a bunch of pavers together with containers on the pavers under the feeders the pavers could keep the seeds from seeding in the dirt and the small birds will clean up the feed. I have mind over jade containers and driveway and the birds do a great job cleaning the feed on the cement with any feed I give the birds
Thank you for the tour. For me the apricot color blooms look really beautiful in the garden and I love it. The bouganvilia looks like it needs to get out of the pot and into the ground. I think it would do much better. Thank you once again for the tour. Loved.
Love your videos ❤ Bougainvillea is a heavy feeder and using a balanced fertilizer 10-10-10 , or get the fertilizer that’s best for bougainvilleas. Bougainvilleas likes dry soil and therefore blooms better when kept on the dry side. I’m from the Caribbean 😊 happy growing 🌺🌸🪴🐝🧚🏽🥀🇯🇲
slugs: crush egg shells to about a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch size, make uninterrupted ring of the eggshells around the base of the plants. This works because the shells can cut the slug's outer skin.
I wonder if you could use your q&a videos as time logged towards your volunteer hours for the Master Gardeners. You're helping the community by answering the questions, even if we don't live in YOUR community, we're your RUclips community 🤣 I think your whole RUclips channel should count, because of how much you inspire everyone!! For example, one inspiration I took from this video (one of many) is the flower wall! How amazing!
Quick fyi, if you’re growing tomatoes like that where they’ve got lots of space, you don’t actually need to prune suckers-it’s more for close gardening and to help air flow and an easier way to support their plants that people prune suckers (you’ll actually get more fruit per plant if you leave more of the suckers) Love the backyard progression! Really interesting about the apricot color from a distance
Just beautiful Janey! I enjoy both styles of filming...when you’re alone and when Jason helps you. I’ll be looking for that pink cashmere verbena next year for sure! Thanks! 👏🇨🇦
Love that you planted native milkweed for monarch butterflies! If you ever have a chance to plant a stand of 5 - 6 plants, you will increase your chances a female monarch will lay eggs and you will have enough milkweed for hungry caterpillars. 😊 Good luck with your pollinator raised beds!
Honeysuckle is invasive in my area, but I always love it when it's blooming! The air is so sweet smelling. We have acreage and a "wild"woods area by a creek on the east side of our property, the honeysuckle is all up in the woods and we just let it do it's thing. Your yard is just lovely, thanks for sharing!!
Just a thought, if you remove those pots beneath the bougainvillea and replace with maybe boulders and other size rocks, or maybe other dry/full sun plants like cactus etc you’d still have interest there, and not the water issues. And you can put the pots near the bench along the fence for some more interest. Also, with the foxglove, and you’ll find this the more you mature as a gardener, you need other colors to set that color off. So if you surrounded it with a lorapetalum and hakonechloa, or planted a smokebush behind the bench, they would really stand out. Think about the colors on a color wheel. ;) It is looking great, keep up the good work!
The rear garden looks amazing. thanks for sharing it. I started watching your channel because I had seen a photo of the front of your house on another channel, and I was taken by your ivy espalier. I wanted to see how that was done. Ironically, since I've been watching, I have never seen you do any maintenance on the ivy. I'd love to see a video in the future about that iconic part of your garden.
Great tour ! Loved it. Made me want to put on a pretty dress and hat and drink lemonade while I watched 😂 I hear the love and adoration of your flowers in your voice. I just planted a delphinium in my garden . Love it ❤ the blue is SO vibrant . Yes! Do a Q & A ... great idea. I will start my list of queastions 😂
For the bird seed I would recommend getting seed only for the birds you want to attract. For instance, only safflower seed for cardinals and house finches. I don't use black sunflower seeds because birds need to crack the shell and then there is shell mess on the ground below the feeders. Sunflower kernels (already shelled) work nicely. I feed lots of birds and I wonder where you get your seed to have it sprout? Big box stores sell combination bird seed that has a lot of filler in it that is a waste. I'm not sure the type of birds you want to attract, but a local bird store like Wild Birds Unlimited can help. Good luck! 😊
Yes please!!! I actually wrote a comment on last months backyard garden tour and I'm not sure she read it. I want to put some in my backyard and curious how it looks on fence versus how people usually string them. Hoping she 👀 this comment. ❤❤❤❤❤
Youe backyard is beautiful Janey. I love seeing how all the new plants are doing and seeing the growth in those that have been around a bit. The Honeysuckle looks bigger than ever and so does the Bouganvilea. Also, your two new additions in the pond suit the space perfectly. I bet your daughters love them.
Even though I am in Kansas I get so many ideas from you. Your gardens are just a joy to be in and I love the strawberry story. Thank you for sharing with us
Birdfeeders certainly can be messy! Key is feeding the right kind of seed. Nothing with millet or other filler in it. Sunflower hearts or niger seed or peanuts (for bluejays) work best in zone 5b. Beautiful gardens!
Janey, I know that you do not like the location of your garbage cans, I wonder if you relocate them to the other side of your backyard on the other side of your storage shed if that would be better, just a suggestion. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden.
Oh, here is a good FYI…diatomaceous earth is also organic and fight slugs and fly larvae. You can sprinkle it everywhere that slugs are a problem and you might have some around since it is used in pool filters!
I was having the same issues with our bird feeders. I switched to a bird feed labeled "no mess patio mix", it's meant not to sprout - i think it has peanuts and shelled sunflowers? We got it from a local nursery, I think they sell it at pet supply shops too. We've also noticed a lot of different birds since we switched.
Beautiful everything.! Yes I agree on the Supertunia Persimmon…mine also growing aggressively like a vista. Your backyard is a quaint and comfy space, very nice.🌸
Hi Janey! I'm sure you've already thought of it, but when you said you wanted more blue tones in this shade garden bed I thought of pincusion flowers. Might be worth trying in that space! Mine in 8b do so so well and I got them from Lowes. :)
The back corner is looking beautiful. I agree the orange flower has to go, definitely more blue and purple is the way to go. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
I agree. Blues and yellows maybe. I visted a castlegarden one day and saw a huge flowerbed with only deep bleu and bright yellow flowers, You could see them from so far away, it was mindblowing!
Janey everything is just beautiful. My hubby and I were laughing about your dog eating your strawberries. We had a Basset Hound years ago that ate our blackberries😊 Your planters are all just gorgeous. Happy Memorial Day. Love and blessings🌸🌺🌼
Soooo pretty. I'll def ask my nursery re: pink cashmere. I just received supervene sparkling rose. They are soooo beautiful. Much like Pink cashmere but with more defined markings. Love your garden! Thx for sharing!
What kind of peony did you have planted next to your apricot foxgloves? Looks like it has seed pods forming! I would love to try growing them, I know they take years but it’s cool that they don’t always bloom true to their parent plant so you don’t know what the blooms may look like 😊 you should try to grow them! Scarify them put them in vermiculite until you see roots form then place container in fridge until you see first leaves and then pot the babies up! And see what you get in a few years, their foliage is pretty too even without blooms❤
Hi Janey 🌺.What abeautiful tour in your garden all the plants looks amazing with these unique flowers . I love it . Janey do you want to add Japanese Maple to your preaty garden ?.Have awonderful day .🌺🌻🌺
Great garden tour! You will have to move the Wichita Blue. They get very large and if you continue to prune them to keep them small they will start looking woody. We grow them here in Canada and they are beautiful but like their space to grow and will get quite large. So hopefully you have a large area to accommodate it. As the colour does look nice in your zone!
@@rosiesingleton6480 yes they are gorgeous and slow growing they need a-lot of space. If you have a large yard and have the room they provide that silver blue colour that a garden needs year round and they don’t brown in winter either.
Love your videos! If you were to transplant those apricot foxgloves next to something with purple/blue blossoms, it might highlight the oranges in the foxgloves. Good luck!
Janey, I'm in Folsom and I can't find Supertunia or Superbenias. Where do you get them? I have a Bubble Gum from a couple years ago but now I can't find them. Any suggestions? Loving your garden! ❤️
I had the same problem with my bird seed. I switched to a No Waste bird seed and the problem completely disappeared. The seeds are shelled and do not grow if they fall on the ground. I believe the brand is Better Bird and I purchase it from Publix’s.
Love the tours! We had a fur baby that kept stealing our tomatoes so we never had ripped tomatoes, 😢he passed away in Jan so this year our plants are full and ripped tomatoes. But our youngest dog loves them too although he asks for permission before eating them lol. I can see why yours love strawberries those are delicious too😅
So beautiful Janet ,k I’ll love ig all !!I would love if you show or demonstrate how u espalier the vines in your fence that I love !!I have a pvc fence I’m wondering what to use to attach the wires to it
It would look really pretty if you put a single feature plant under each trellis opening (the same plant). If you had the same juniper evergreen centred under each trellis opening under the honeysuckles that would look amazing, instead of the trellis and other stuff. The repetition would look amazing, Just a thought!
I interplanted an herb like oregano with a climbing rose and lettuce in a bucket (forgot what it is, sorry), and it acts exactly like that strawflower! But at least it protected my lettuce from cabbage worms🤷♂️. The idea of grapes growing on the pergula is 😍🤩. The vervains are amazing, especially Pink Cashmere!
Yes,use the black oil sunflower seeds! Very rarely do they sprout, and then it’s a sunflower. Easy to pull if you want to. Try nyger seeds very small and they don’t sprout. My problem in So Cal is squirrels!!! They fly from the fence, then they are swinging from the feeder. Make me crazy! I love watching the birds. But between the squirrels and feral cats hunting the birds I’ve given up for now.
What a GORG😊 back yard 🌿 Once in a while I use my home made COMPOST to my over 25 yrs old Bougainvilleas and NEVER water bc they are in the ground and find there own! They're going nuts like urz!! Tell me,is that stone Chattahoochee??
The little birds will eat the sunflower seeds to. You might get sunflowers growing instead of grass, but they are easier to pull or let them grow and have pretty sunflower blooms. Your garden is so beautiful!
Beautiful yard! I use only black-oiled sunflower seeds in my bird feeders and the little birds love them! So much better than the messy bird seed mixes. Also, consider a nyger feeder for the finches. 🐦M
Janie, what are the bluish lavender flowers in your topiary pot trio? Those really stand out and are so beautiful with the pots and topiaries! The garden looks gorgeous!
Have you tried "no mess" bird food, or cracked sunflower seeds as these will not sprout if they fall on the ground. I put up with seeds sprouting for years until I switched. It is somewhat more expensive, however, well worth switching out.
I get my seeds from wild birds unlimited and they have seeds without the shell. Not having the shell means that plants won’t grow when the seeds fall in the flowerbeds. It’s the best thing!
If you don’t mind spending a little more money, the gold finches will eat Nyger bird seed. No sprouting and the small shells left over will add to the mulch. In place of the millet (it’s causing the green sprouting stuff) buy chip sunflower seeds. No mess either. I too ge tired of the mess of sprouts.
Did u plant the bougainvillea as security? Can u do a video on how to trim it without getting hurt and how u get it to stay on the wall? If u want that is.
I actually prefer these garden tours with You holding your camera 😅
Me too!
Me three... Its alright seeing her once a while but when janey filming i can know more details of the plants
Me four! I agree with three's comment. You give more detail on each of the plants. 😊
Me five 🤣

Gorgeous 🥰
Your garden is looking stunning, great job!
I only buy the black sun flower seeds because I was having the same problem. My small birds still eat it 😊 you should definitely try it ..
It would look really pretty if you put a single feature plant under each trellis opening (the same plant). If you had the same juniper evergreen centred under each trellis opening under the honeysuckles that would look amazing, instead of the trellis and other stuff. The repetition would look amazing, Just a thought!
Beautiful place, really enjoyed, hope you get the few issues you have worked out, to my eyes it’s 100% amazing 😊
Absolutely stunning Janey 🍃🌸🍃
I interplanted an herb like oregano with a climbing rose and lettuce in a bucket (forgot what it is, sorry), and it acts exactly like that strawflower! But at least it protected my lettuce from cabbage worms🤷♂️. The idea of grapes growing on the pergula is 😍🤩. The vervains are amazing, especially Pink Cashmere!
So beautiful garden . Love all plant choices also love the mulch you have in the garden.
Love ❤️ love it
your garden is looking fabulous
So pretty🌸🌿🌸
Beautiful backyard! Great job.
How do you know which ( 2:15 ) branches will bloom eventually, and which are suckers?
If you don’t mind spending a little more money, the gold finches will eat Nyger bird seed. No sprouting and the small shells left over will add to the mulch. In place of the millet (it’s causing the green sprouting stuff) buy chip sunflower seeds. No mess either. I too ge tired of the mess of sprouts.
Wow! You guys are at the peak? I'm in 5b, the peak won't happen for another month for us.
Did u plant the bougainvillea as security? Can u do a video on how to trim it without getting hurt and how u get it to stay on the wall? If u want that is.
Absolutely beautiful ❤❤❤
Could you prop your strawberry pot up and out of Stanley's reach? Maybe on an upside down clay pot? Funny little sweet tooth!
