Thank you for this video I am so sick of watching videos where people are sponsored and given a truck load of plants. Its so refreshing to see someone working with and using what they have on a budget. I live in South Africa and i grow many of my plants from seed or divided and propagate. The specialty ones I buy in but sparingly.
Agreed ! Anyone can create something amazing with unlimited resources but a curated garden built over time with that which is gathered , really wins my heart 💙
Thank you so much. I have to admit, there are times I wish I could buy ‘all the things’ when it comes to gardening. I tell myself to have patience and the plants that I’m able to buy on sale will eventually fill my garden up. 🥰 My mom’s husband had visited South Africa often.
@@birdhousegarden Yes I am bit of a plant a-holic but patience is good because sometimes what you planted works better else where. We are in our winter now so its maintenance and planting enjoy and keep the videos coming. I am going to subscribe now.
Fellow Fresnan here! I love to garden and re-purpose plants and other elements. Your garden is beautiful and so fun to see you describe all your transformation! Keep up the good work!
I really enjoyed watching you and your husband grow and expand the garden. What a wonderful hobby to do together. ❤ A real garden, in a realistic homestead. I just love you channel and videos, please keep them coming 😊
I usually don’t watch garden Chanel’s in a much warmer zone than mine but your Chanel grabbed my attention. Your garden is so pretty and whimsical. I also love your hairstyle. Love from Nova Scotia, Canada
Thank you so much. You live in a beautiful area. I’ve not been, however my mom has vacationed near you. I’ve had the same stylist for nearly 30 years. Thank you 😊
This is my first video of yours I’ve watched. It is refreshing to see a self made and manageable garden. I always go to the clearance racks at Lowe’s first. I even bought some annuals this spring and a 4foot lemon cypress for half price. Love it. Love your garden.
Thank you so much for watching. I absolutely love lemon cypress. I bought another small one during the holidays. We’ll see how long it can stay in our window box. 😊
I love your video. your statue is exactly like the one I got for my hubby who is a retired firefighter. a storm came and broke his head off. I wish I could find it again. by the way you have such beautiful hair. I love all the layers. so pretty. I style mine similar. but my hair is not at thick and pretty as yours.
Thank you. He used to sit in my mom’s garden for years when she lived near San Francisco. She gave it to me when she moved to be closer to us. I’ll ask where she purchased it. Aren’t hot rollers the best! 😃
😂I have small sections of metal garden fencing ALL OVER my garden exactly for the same reason!😅 my dog loves to run through the beds and sometimes just dig up and lay on plants. I hate the way it looks but it's the only solution I've found. It was really nice ti see that someone else is dealing with the same thing! Thank you for your video.
Oh, I’m so happy. At least once a week we go to the blue store to see what’s in the clearance area. Don’t forget to asks your locally owned nurseries as well. 😃
You should be so proud of your gardens.I am still blown away by your geraniums. Wow. You can always tell when someone loves their home and this is quiet obvious with yours.
I love the budget section at Lowes. I have found some nice rescues there. This year, so far, I have been planting divisions and seeds I started. I always want to purchase something new - but, I do appreciate saving money. Your dog run is a brilliant idea. I am going to share that idea with my daughter. Her 3 dogs literally ruin her back yard, but she certainly has enough room to put in a dog run around the perimeter. Thank you for sharing!
The dog run became very important for that exact reason. 🤣 Oh.. the plants I’ve lost because of him. We watched his pattern and worked with making openings for him.
Love the drift or shrub roses. I have popcorn drift and pink ones as well. Also have the lemon lace elderberry. First year, not much growth. This year, gorgeous!
I have Perfume Breeze rose and l love it! So easy to grow, smells so beautiful and I got it for about $7!!! It’s actually my favorite rose in my garden right now 🌹

Hey girlll...this is the second video of yours....I love your garden. The little fence looks like garden art.. Your are doing a great job. Thanks be bless 🙏
Your flowers are so beautiful!!!!! You have did a wonderful job of landscaping, love your Hydrangeas, I planted 3 last fall, but already the sun has scorched some of the leaves, I just don't have enough shade😮💨
Hi I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of weeks now, congratulations on your garden it has rewarded you beautifully with all your persistence and hard work to achieve this serene and charming oasis, I live in South Australia and our summers can be hot 🥵 but nothing like your climate, happy gardening ❤
Looks amazing! I just started redoing my garden last year I'm zone 9b-ish (technically 10a but microclimate i'm in is more 9b) I can't wait for it to fill in! I always have to remember gardens sleep, then creep, then leap!
Better check the variety of that Nandina. The original owner used the bucket to contain it, many varieties are invasive. I am currently cleannig a bed at my Church....IT's everywhere!! Your beds are beautiful!! I am a clearance gardener also!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden! I too love to buy clearance and watch them grow so beautifully! May I ask what kind of soil do you have? It seems very smooth and gray looks!
What a beautiful garden! I also look for clearance plants that scream "save me and I will give you joy!" I bought 15 Merritt supreme hydrangeas on clearance last year (3 Gallon for $5 each). They are doing well but only one has budded up this season- I am in SE Ga 8B. Did I hear you say you put 5 gallon/hr emitters on each of yours?
Yes, we did. I'll probably do that to a few other plants as well. We have water restrictions. Only being able to water 3 days a week during certain hours of the day. Outside of our wet winter, California rarely receives rain. Most of them have buds. I'm hoping to film them in bloom this coming month.
Thank you!😃 Yes, I live in central California, Fresno/Clovis. Our summers are long, with temperatures over 100 degrees. We have a few days in the 90’s coming up. Then we’re back to 105. I’m looking forward to cooler weather. 🍂
Your garden is gorgeous! I can see that significant amount of love was invested in it. Question: what is the name of the plant with silvery foliage on the right hand side at 10:27? I like it very much and would like to have it in my garden.
@george lee; my Artimesia is gorgeous. It came in a small quart size pot, and now it's 3 ft high and 4-5 feet across!! I shape it perfectly into a round cloud. It gets tiny yellow flowers that I trim off immediately so that it saves its energy and keeps a smooth shape. Water several times a week in summer and it grows more sense. It does best in full, hot sun. I love it!
Just found your channel! The garden is beautiful. What is the plant on your cedar block wall ? It’s so pretty and green . I’m done 9 b so not sure how it would do here
Creeping fig is covering the block wall. I’m in zone 9b, central California. It’s on drip. We uses 5 gph emitters. It covered half the wall in the first 6 months. So glad you found my channel. Welcome 🤗
Your garden is looking beautiful. I enjoy seeing the before and after. So pretty. I love your fountain. It's a great size. It it electric or solar? How tall is it? I'm California zone 9b and we get the ocean influence in the afternoon which is wonderful.
Thank you. The fountain is electric and approximately 5 feet tall. I remember the ocean breeze and miss it so much. We used to live in Ventura county. 🌊

Can u recommend some screening plants that could survive hot brutal all day sun pls? Ty!
Oh my! Your weather sounds so much like ours. I have family in Amarillo. 😃 Have you considered Bougainvillea? That’s what I really wanted to plant. We were in Yuma, AZ last March and I saw bougainvillea everywhere. They do well in direct hot sun with little water.
@@birdhousegarden I had two bougainvillea growing thru obelisks last yr, and our winter killed them even tho I covered them with frost cloth so now I’m afraid to try large swaths of them over the cinder blocks walls. I’d hate to lose many plants at once.

Our soil isn’t too bad. I mulch in some areas. Under our camphor and redwood trees we do not much. Those tree provide beautiful shade, however they are so messy, I have to rake twice a week. 🤦♀️😃
