    Product Design Flaw. Strut and cable should not be on the same bolt.

    Mine has a plate at thee top bolt on the truck which drops the upper strut connect down about 3 inches or so and I have had it on for some time now and it works (closes and opens) fine with no binding.

    Thanks for sharing your experience on this, maybe ill go with a different type after seeing your troubles here. You mentioned a couple times about the Loctite being glue rather than loctite...and just wanted to mention it is exactly glue..it's a threadlocker adhesive.

    Had exactly same experience on my 2007 Ram 1500. Cable constantly got pinched. Removed immediately. Very few other videos show a detailed view of the cable tucking in while closing.

      Exactly! Nice idea, but pure garbage! Couldn't get it ripped off fast enough!

    To fix the cable getting pinched just twist the cable on one side to make it hug the tailgate better easy fix had to do it on my obs ford

    Hey Buddy. I bought the same one. I had all the same issues as you showed. The second time i shut it the cable Did not fold up properly , and was binding up & actually broke my tail light. I am pissed. Thinking About trying to completely remove the cable on that side and see if it will function OK without the cable and just leave the shock in place. What a pos this thing is.

    • @cumminsperformancs
      @cumminsperformancs  Год назад

      Don't plan to put anything heavy on the tailgate if you remove cable! That garbage shock ain't supporting anything!

      @@cumminsperformancs I noticed a slight differences in the kit that's made from DEEZ . When I bought my kit it looked identical to that 1 I'm not sure where the change took place. I dont know if that 1 is causing issues with the cable or not. if u ever come up with a way to have the cable fold up properly - please share. Take care .

      I removed the cable on the side of the shock. Haven’t had problems for over 2-years. My kids jump on the tailgate, we sit on it, use it like a kitchen counter, etc.

    ive used nutserts for things tht deal with much more pressure than a tailgate. maybe opt for a different nutsert rather than the one it came with.

      @@cumminsperformancs in the description you mentioned something about the nutsert not being able to handle the pressure. I wasn’t referring to it being the issue with the cable.

      @@cumminsperformancs I appreciated the video though as I was also thinking about purchasing this. It seems cool but the cable things a bit annoying. I’m wondering if you could just use the passenger cable and get rid of the driver one all together

    • @cumminsperformancs
      @cumminsperformancs  2 года назад +1

      @@Nate6133 Definitely not..
      The strut thing definitely could not support the weight, without the cable.

    Total piece of crap and will definitely rub on your tail lights only for a little while due to the fact that the bottom bolt loosens its way right out of there, definitely taking mine back to where it came from and where it can definitely stay
