Well. These videos work. 😂 I live in the Bay Area and went yesterday to the humane society...and Shirly, who has been in the shelter a year because of trust issues, is coming home in a few days after a couple more visits. 🥰
As a five year old my parents went to a dog shelter with me and I wanted to adopt a pup. While walking through the shelter suddenly a dog came happily jumping to the fence and I instantly fell in love. It was already a full grown dog and the workers told us she was always in her corner and never came out of her shell like that. She kinda chose me actually. She was the greatest dog I could ever imagine ❤️
Rescues make the best pets, aka family members. They know what you've done for them. AND, by adopting and fostering, you open up a new spot for another animal to be rescued and cared for. Well done, good humans. Well done!
I''ll share a similar story. I adopted a dog as a teenager living on my own but after a few months I realized he was simply too much for me to handle so with a heavy heart I took him to the local shelter. Well, just as I was getting out of my car with the dog to take him into the shelter a station wagon pulled up with a large family. When they got out their car and saw me with the dog we started talking and it turns out they decided to adopt him! Made me SO happy!
My only concern is that: after spending large amounts of money to adopt and have the new pet be "home worthy (vet fees/ grooming charges, licencing fees etc)" and invest emotional attachment to the dog that one day on a walk somewhere, the dog will recognize a previous owner and want to go back to previous owner.
Poor Marty. My heart just aches for him...I think he shows signs of having post traumatic stress. Something awful happened to him. A runaway victim of a house fire? Car crash? Who knows. I would take him in a minute if I was allowed dogs where I live. Poor fella.
For everyone in the commemts here that saybtheyvwould love to adopt a certain dog (or cat) but love out of state or country, please look into yoir local shelters and save an animal where you live. There are lots of animals everywhere that need homes.
Ive spent 5 years with my special needs rescue, she has half her muzzle missing (she is fine, just a messy girl) cant see so well in one eye and has scars all over. She was on the streets in romania. She is still fearful of some things, like loud noise and busses but she trusts me 100% and when i say its ok, she knows its ok. I love her
Marty reminds me so much of the day I adopted our boy...he was a family turn in to a rescue....he was completely shut down, fearful...he was the smallest dog among large breeds and it was clear the other dogs weren't accepting him in the pack...my wife said he needs us now...we adopted him and it took a year for him to totally trust we weren't going to dump him...now he has the best life and is the most loving and loyal dog...please adopt Marty and Alexis, they will be great
@@mistylynnrose Don’t lose hope! That poor frightened dog whimpering breaks my heart. He’s such a big strong boy. What awful thing happened to make him like this? I’d take him home if I didn’t live so far away.
My guess is, that Marty has grown up isolated, never been taken outside (maybe they had a garden), and has never experienced the outside world. A dog shutting down when he sees a cat or other dogs is weird. That's how I ended up with my big cat boy: someone threw him from a moving car late Nov 21. Two girls saw him and took him to the vet, and then I saw him on FB shared by a friend of mine. I'd just lost my boy, so I wasn't ready (I thought), but it soon became apparent we were perfect for each other: I have CFS/ME and am house-bound in an apartment (hence no longer being able to have dogs) and he needed to be a one-cat household, indoor-only cat (he tested positive for FIV). He was 5 kilos when I got him but all head, just neutered, poor bubs, terrified and scratchy but underneath you could see the lovely lad. 2 years on, he is 8 1/2 kilos (not even fat!) and has completely lost all of his trauma responses and is a snuggle cat. To this day I am so grateful my friend shared his story. Shares help!
It makes me so sad to see a scared dog. I can only imagine what happened. I appreciate the kindness and teamwork of staff and volunteers to help him gain trust and be a tail wagger again!
Animals absolutely have "complex" emotions! Anyone who has a pet can (or SHOULD) be able to see that they get lonely, depressed and/or sad, as well as happy and excited! They love, and form deep bonds, with people and other animals!❤❤❤
Yes. I hate it when people say that us folks who recognize that animals have complex emotions is anthropomorphism. My pup experiences: fear, jealousy, loneliness, love, happiness, sadness, and so much more. Spend time with animals (especially dogs) and you will see this.
Sometimes, this show makes me soooo angry! People just throwing cats over the fence when they HAVE the option to do it safely! That sweet little princess deserves more! Thank you for saving her! Her markings are amazing! She looks like like an okapi!❤❤❤
Unfortunately, sometimes shelters won't take on more animals, so humans abandon them near a shelter, hoping the shelter or animal lover will take them in.
That cat looks so much like a stray I rescued years ago. She passed away in 2018. I miss her. Never was a cat person, she just kinda followed me home one day, followed right in my house and never left. She was such a sweetheart. Looks exactly like that stray.
Cats tend to be the only animals that can do that… they just walk into their house and tell you to feed them and worship them… well, I feed them and I love them but never worship them even though they really try to make me lol….
Marty's eyes as they compare before and after the walk; he looked so sad afterwards. And the precious look with her head cocked that Carly gave you when you were leaving compared to that frightened, sad expression she had when you first entered her kennel.
Marty has such sad eyes! So glad Sophia is adopted Wishing her much success in her new home, and lastly Stormy, wow what a gorgeous cat; the colors and markings and so sweet she won't be there for long.
I would adopt little Carley in a heartbeat, I had a similar little dog who'd been returned 3 times, she was hard work but turned out to be the best dog I'd ever owned❤
Rocky, Love is the answer for cats, dogs, humans who are shut down. The inhumanity of people on other living beings is horrible. I pray Marty gets a loving home ASAP. A Mom or Dad or both that will love & appreciate him.
Hopefully 3rd times a charm with Sophia. Caine Corso’s are guardians and seeing her so shut down is heartbreaking. Hopefully with this other dog, will bring her back to the best dog she can be . She’s so beautiful. I hope she has a wonderful life from now on.

But my heart breaks for the stray cats the way yours does for the homeless dogs. I'm so grateful that you and the shelter team managed to get Stormy back to safety.
The cat is gorgeous, definitely half Siamese and the cry is the sound of one too. Puppies smell wonderful, their puppy breath too and yes their tummies are so cute.
OMG the kitty is soo pretty 😍 and Stormy is a cool name for her 😍 hopefully she has a home where she can go back too or gets adopted soon but seeing how friendly she is I think she finds a family soon 🥰🤞
Seeing the change in Marty makes my heart happy last time I cried seeing how shut down he was. So happy seeing his tail wagging and asking for pets. So much progress 🫂💪🏻.
Marty strikes me as a dog who was chained up in someone's back yard and had perhaps a run but never interacted with strangers or other animals. The other possibility is living with an older person and never having gone outside, but a dog of Marty's size is hardly an exclusively indoor dog but it is possible. Marty's fear is heartbreaking because a walk for a dog should be an enjoyable experience and seeing a cat set Marty back into freezing only confirms that Marty was completely isolated. Marty's fear is going to be a hard nut to crack.
Isn't it depressing? I mean I understand that there are circumstances where someone has a dog and then tragedy strikes they become incapacitated or unable to do the things the dog deserves. But let's be honest the vast majority of the time it's people who impulsively acquire a dog, and then reality hits... and they just fail their pet on every level. Stormy is so beautiful and affectionate! All animals can sense how amazingly kind Rocky is. And how easily Carly opens up. Hoping they find a loving, stable home. And Marty is such a sweetheart. He’s building that confidence and just needs a good owner for that guidance.
Rocky, I'm sure you would be the first to agree that each animal here is sweet, kind and deserving of a fabulous home. Hope they and all of the others receive that gift very soon! Woof! 🐶❣

I have feed, watered, cleaned prison kennel since this puppy was about 8 weeks old and was purchased for her son by your friend of mine's daughter and the son doesn't want anything to do with it and the mother the daughter of a friend of mine doesn't do anything for this dog and it lives in this prison cell kennel with four and five inches of poop and most of the time and I was taking food and water everyday and I have physical issues that I can't clean the kennel so I have to pay someone to do this for me and I can't call animal control because they will know who did it and they know where I live Hershey told me she wanted me to pay for it which I was going to do then she said she would give it to me and when I went to pick it up she changed her mind and now she won't let me pay for it she won't give him to me he is precious he knows my voice he knows my vehicle and oh I want him so bad and I rescue dogs and cats all the time but this one has just stolen my heart he is treated so badly so very very badly. He doesn't get let out of that cage except maybe once a week for 15 minutes. I don't know what to do this is ridiculous because I've offered it have offered her even more money than what she originally asked for. Please give me some advice. And I gave him a name a long time ago. I call him RESCUE. And he responds to that with me.
First time I saw Marty I cried. So glad this update shows he is improving. Love from Canada
Rocky you are the Best!! 🐾 Paws 🐾 crossed Sophia doesn't get returned and she finally finds her fur-ever home ❤❤❤
That barksgiving dinner is more money than I spend for my family dinner. But I understand why that is. Maybe consider smaller dinners? God bless you all ❤
This one hit me hard…..we have a JRT called Fonzi, who’s 9 yrs old , Jack Russells really get attached to their owners, such intelligent little dogs, and fiercely dependable towards their owners , must be so scary for her….she’s a beautiful dog, and Carly is a wonderful name…..hope she gets a loving family 👍🇮🇲👌💖
Rocky & Kelly you are awesome. I bought my four rescued dogs a Turkey dinner & thanksgiving charcuterie!

Carly watched you walk out She was roping her head to the side, like she was curious. I'd love to have her but I'm in Boston.
Carly looks like such a sweetheart.
Stormy is so beautiful and affectionate! All animals can sense how amazingly kind Rocky is. And how easily Carly opens up. Hoping they find a loving, stable home. And Marty is such a sweetheart. He’s building that confidence and just needs a good owner for that guidance.
I hope Sophia has finally found her forever home 🙏🏽❤️
Rocky, I'm sure you would be the first to agree that each animal here is sweet, kind and deserving of a fabulous home. Hope they and all of the others receive that gift very soon! Woof! 🐶❣
Amazing work, Rocky, Kelly and Alexis. You're changing lives!

I wanna pat puppy bellies lol! Aren't they just the cutest little guys!
Poor terrified Marty! I hate to think was he must have endured to make him this terrified & shut down crying like he does! It almost makes me cry. I hope he finds a home.
But so many wonderful moments here that make me smile. Stormy coming out for a pat & a smooch.
The little scared puppy you scooped up on her mattress. Nice!😊👍
There's nothing like puppy breath and energy. 🙂
Carly is SO thin, she deserves that barksgiving feast the most😊
Stormy is such a gorgeous lynx-point Siamese mix! I wish I lived closer, I would take her in a heartbeat.

I just signed up for membership. I have two wonderful pup babies whom I love very much. One I rescued from a family that stated "we just don't love her". She is the most loving baby ever! My male dog Sam remains to be the boss of the house but finally did accept Bella, or maybe just tolerates her. Anyway I love what you do to help these animals find loving homes. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much and great to have you here 🤙
Rocky you are an extra amazing human being ❤❤❤
