    Ok, after a few days work, my cabinet is finally done! A massive thank you to 3 youtube channels without which i would not have been able to even attempt such a project. Costa, you were my main inspiration... you are truly a genius! Posing with peter, i used many of your tips, you were extremely helpful. Sixth scale hero, my fellow aussie, helped me source materials in Oz and i used manyof your tips also. I highly recommend watching the videos that these 3 pioneers put up before starting a project like this. Thank you so much again!

    costa really inspired a lot. I couldn't thank him enough.. Great video, nice to hear other people's experience and other tips.... How thick is your acrylic sheet? I believe i got the thinnest option there is From your experience would you say it doesn't matter or a thicker glass will be better? Thanks & nice collection!

    • @sixthscaleshero
      @sixthscaleshero  Месяц назад

      I used 2mm acrylic for the front and 3mm for the sides. I went for lighter at the front given the sheets are secured at height (especially the top shelf) and thought lighter would be better. Since gluing the magnets to the acrylic panels everything had been securely in place for around six months now.

    Thank you for this video👍🏽. I'm using your tutorial to do my own case. I'm in the research process before starting to acquire the items.
    I have a question , when laying down the vinyl tape on the acrylic, when you do the 1-1/2 side, what do you do with the excess since you are using a 2in roll? Do you wrap around the excess and place the magnetic tape on top of the excess acrylic tape or do you cut the excess vinyl tape? I am seriously lookig at having black orinted borders instead and I'm looking at any local providers that can do that, but will do vinyl if the cost is too high.
    Has anyone tried screwing the side acrylic panels to the frame?? Since those wont move , is it possible to uses screws, washers and bolts? Thank you

    • @sixthscaleshero
      @sixthscaleshero  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi again, you wrap the excess vinyl tape around to the other side of the acrylic panel. The video tutorials by Costa at Popculture Living Room (which I have linked to in the description of this video) walk through this process in more detail.
      I think you may have already asked me about screwing in the side panels. Not sure if you saw my reply to this?

      They are frameless display cabinets. I have made quite a few mods to these too, to add dimmable lights and matt black vinyl was applied to the shelves and back glass panel.

    Amazing cabinet and video! I'm currently in the process of building my own. I'm up to the acrylic part. You mentioned that if you were to do it again you would get laser printed borders instead of the vinyl tape. Do you know where to source these at all please? I am based in nsw, Australia and am finding it very hard to get someone who does this.

    • @sixthscaleshero
      @sixthscaleshero  6 месяцев назад

      I found a few local places that I think could do this, but I am in Western Australia, so that's not particularly helpful to you (sorry!). I would suggest looking up commercial signage businesses in your area, as they often do printing as part of the sign manufacturing process (and their websites should tell you what materials they can print on). An alternative option could be to paint a border on the acrylic.

    Great work! and nice choice for the height. We only get 3 shelves using Hart or Juggernaut garage shelves. I went for magnetic tapes for the lights, so that if we change the size of the shelves in the future, we can easily remove it. I just subscribed to your channel!

    • @sixthscaleshero
      @sixthscaleshero  6 месяцев назад

      My display in this cabinet won't be changing as it's mainly for vehicles, which is why I have used individual back panels and a more permanent option for fixing the lights. Thanks so much for your lovely feedback and the sub! 🙏

    Excellent build, love the lighting, did this a while back but got the idea from BogleArts then I found Costa's channel which is annoying as Costa had a better idea of attaching the acrylic panels with magnet strips as mine are attached with velcro strips but all in all there still pretty good I've gone with acrylic shelves as well as they let more light pass through, that's what I like about these there very customizable to the individual

    • @sixthscaleshero
      @sixthscaleshero  8 месяцев назад

      Oh, interesting! How has the velcro held up over time? I agree, the concept is a great template for people to then make it their own. I love seeing the different interpretations out there.
