    Summary of thoughts and feedback:
    - I really love the design of this case, though I do wish there was one with 1/2" (12mm) thick glass, and better quality control.
    - Based on the feedback/comments, I have heard a lot of people not have any issues with the case, some had minor scratches, and at least 1 person has had the same amount of scratches as mine. That said, there is definitely some randomness in the quality, so purchase with knowing the risks. I am still trying to make sense of the randomness, and as soon as I know, I'll update here. A goal of this video was to show you what I experienced when building this case.
    - I'm told moving it isn't so bad, and one approach is to shrink wrap it before moving it, and lift it from the bottom (or as instructed in manual).
    Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences and feedback, and keep telling me your thoughts, I appreciate them.

    Please, keep this series - and please - consider testing display cases that can also be sold through Amazon (or any other accessible platform) to Europe as well. I am a new collector (got about 25 PVC figures and 2 big, heavy 1/6 resin statues ranging 50 to 70cm tall) and I am completely clueless on what to get. Seeing these options being "locked" behind US sellers is quite sad :( Thanks in advance!

Excellent quality and very valuable information. And please keep this series of display cases , risers, backdrops, and the slew of ides and accessories to make this hobby even better.
    After watching your Blaliden video I went and bought 3 of them from Ikea and I love them. Will be getting some Luke Lights and dustproofing them very soon.

    I bought the same case in 2022. I put it together alone with the help of my bed. It has been great, I moved since then and wrapped it in shrink wrap without taking the shelves out and no issues bringing it up 2 sets of stairs. No cracks or breakage, I just made sure the case was wrapped tight and we carried it from the bottom vertically.
    Mine was not scratched but there are some tiny stress fractures on the edge of one door that have been there since I unboxed it. But its not noticeable. Overall I love it and it has my prize Star Wars Lego in it.

    I'm glad you reviewed this case specifically since I've been eyeballing it for several months. I figured this would be a pain to move due to shattering and just sheer weight. My biggest disappointment is not having any (reliable) way of adjusting shelf height. 1/4 scale figures are always the one I have to consider when getting new display cabinets.

    • @Battletide.
      @Battletide.  27 дней назад

      Yeah, having adjustable shelves is tricky in this one. I am noticing a lot of display cases these days don’t supply adjustable shelve options unfortunately. As far as moving, someone commented that they had no problem moving, they just wrapped it in shrink wrap before moving anywhere, which makes sense.

    We bought this exact case from Amazon not even a month ago and it arrived scratch all to hell like yours.
    Every. Single. Pane.
    Our doors were also warped. We reached out to the seller advising the issue where they just sent additional panes of glass, packaged the same way, also all scratched. We looked at every single review before purchase and saw no real complaints about the glass either.
    We love the idea and how it looks but I wouldn't purchase it again.

    Another great video! Happy you've given an update to another option! I care a little less about the case being nearly invisible as I do about the doors. In searching around, I've been trying to find cases that don't have double doors as I think outbof everything, that blocks the most important view, the front. I think the other case you showed had double-doors but I like that this one doesn't. And the cable management situation wasn't too bad! As for lights, though, since these weren't that bright, is there another brand you'd maybe recommend if you could do it over again? Aside from what you've used on the other cases 😅

    Having already invested in 2 blalidens, I think I may be stuck if I want a uniform display of sixth-scale figures (*plus, dust proofing is very important to me). Still, maybe if I pursue more statues this setup may be helpful if I want frame-less displays (*though it has weight limits). Another awesome review & tutorial!

    Hitting subscribe, as I started collecting figures about a year ago and all of mine are just openly displayed on the shelves and I'm running out of room AND reaching the point where I have so many figures I might wanna reduce the need for dusting all of em as often.
    This case does look great and seeing the Avenger Jeanne D'arc Alter figure in there was impressive as it's the biggest one I have right now, so it really does look spacious.
    But seems the only version I found that'd ship to Finland is a chinese seller on the german Amazon site. Not too bad in price and since from within EU it wouldn't have customs taxes, but chinese seller makes me a bit iffy.
    Also, the poor dust proofing with the gaps being that large makes it a bit of a bummer too. Still, would be an impressive display for an affordable price...
    Hmmh. Well, one to consider for when I renovate a second room and plan to make that a display room :)

    Personally the only reason I use a display case (MILSBO) is because I could completely dust proof it, it's just about air tight.

      with shelves this long they would bend like crazy sadly

    • @Battletide.
      @Battletide.  23 дня назад

      Not a bad tip, thanks for sharing! My biggest concerns are with the shelve pegs that are bolted into the glass; there are 6 of them. If you put something like a resin statue which has a bit of weight, it will put added stress on the side panels of glass, which may prematurely cause them to shatter over time due to stress. If the side panels were thicker, it would be less of a concern, since they would be able to handle more weight.
      But thanks again for your tip, it's appreciated.

    This is an amazing budget display case but UK prices for similar cases are a lot more than the Milsbo. I also kind of locked myself into Ikea display cases, which is fine I love the Rudsta mod (x2 rudsta stacked) & their milsbo cases ... I just hope they make a better version of the detolf one day the Blaliden, it has it's place but it is no Detolf.
    Did you see what Moducase pushed out to try and fill the space left by the Detolf ? I was not impressed.

    By some miracle could you tell me what size the screws are? I'm considering modifying three of these in a row by routing the base and top panel and eliminating two panels of side glass. If I can find if these are M5 or whatever, I can get headless screws to merge the shelf and L brackets together.

    • @Battletide.
      @Battletide.  14 дней назад +1

      I am not sure if we will see a detolf 3.0. The price of glass really bumps up a bit these days, which is a reason why I think all the new IKEA displays cases use thinner / smaller panels of glass.

  • @roxell2350
    @roxell2350 28 дней назад

    I mean it looks great but amount of stuff directly mounted on and into the glas is a bit worrying, especially since the side panels carry all the weight. Also those scratches would worry me since they could lead to the formation of microfissures and i sure as hell wouldnt want such a big case to suddenly shatter.

    • @Battletide.
      @Battletide.  27 дней назад

      Yeah, I would agree that it is a bit worrying. I love the design, and I don’t think shelves being supported by glass is a bad thing IF the glass is thick / solid enough to support weight. I know that some commercial display cases are like this with much thicker glass… but their price point is like $800 - $2000. It’s a big jump in price just to get glass that is a little thicker.

      @azulleth9401 28 дней назад

      If your only getting few larger/heavier figures then take Gardi's advice.
      If your planning on getting more heavy figures then most people buy a Heavy Duty Garage Shelving Unit because the space between the shelfs is higher and they have much more load weight capacity,hey can also be made into high end custom display cases which look like a moducase.

  • @NegativeZero56
    @NegativeZero56 28 дней назад +3

    I seriously wouldn't trust this one. You're literally using the glass sides as the entire structure of the case. Furthermore, to get the pins for the shelves in, they have drilled holes through the glass, which is almost certainly going to be a source of cracking. And since it's tempered glass, if one side goes it is going to go catastrophically, taking the entire thing for it, whole thing will collapse and crush your whole collection. It just screams "self implosion" to me.

      That said, you can take out a shelf and put 1/4's in it, like the Detolf. My slight concerns are removing a shelf gives you like 30" of height space... 1/4 scales are like 20" - 25" in height... not sure if the the unused space will bother me. But that said, this extra space allows you to put some figures on acrylic risers to raise the figures in the back if you put multiple figures on same shelf.
