Luke SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP at this reaction. Note: in India, we don’t really have this thing that western brides do about being upstaged. Its near impossible to do that. Indian brides will show UP. And people wear their own wedding dresses at other weddings all the time and no one bats an eye😅 plus there’s hundreds of people at each event so chances are no one really even notices anyone with that much detail, unless you are the bride or groom (the Ambani wedding being an exception, bc well, they are the Ambanis, and the whole world is watching).

In India it’s considered offensive if you don’t show up well dressed in all your finery for even a friends wedding let alone a family members. You’re expected to put effort, no matter if you’re well off or middle class, everyone puts their best foot forward. It’s just one large celebration and ceremonies that lasts weeks. And there are several smaller celebrations throughout the year of the wedding.

i do have a question about the first sister-in-law. not in a bad way but it her outfits are genuinely much bigger, more in your face. like people say no one can upstage the indian bride, (and this isn’t the wedding yet), but this really feels like this type of situations. maybe not purposefully but still

@@i0xiaY that's how Indian weddings work. There is no rule about upstaging the bride or not wearing certain colours. People wear their own wedding dresses to the next wedding in family and the bride will still be the centre of the attention because dressing up is such a small part of it. There are so many customs and rites centred around the couple. The actual wedding ceremonies lasts through the night where everyone sits crossed legs on the floor so the dressing up is just for few hours and pictures. Then everyone changes into more comfortable but still fine clothes for the majority of it.

@@i0xiaY the only rule most of the indian wedding follow and guest follow is don't wear red as it's the bride colour. But if bride is wearing something else you can wear it to. And everyone expect people to come looking like mini version of bride. Most of the women in india wear their own bridal jewelry to others wedding. 😅

@@i0xiaYThe SIL from husbands side will practically always try to upstage you in South Asian weddings, it’s super annoying but people are used to it. Then factor in the fact that Isha Ambani is a billionaire and the new face of the family after she’s had some ahem adjustments done, then you end up with this kind of upstaging nonsense.

We’re black Americans. Our son took an Indian girl to prom, we had never met. We just knew they were school friends, not even dating. My god, this girl showed up like an Indian goddess in a version of Radhika’s gilded gold/brown dress at 6:30 …in black with pops of teal embellishments. Similar embroidery, veil, head piece, hand paint, a little less jewelry, matching embellished pumps and just as pretty. She was so beautiful, I almost had a panic attack. I could barely speak. I didn’t think anybody could outdo black folks at prom…. Our son (black tux, teal package.) could’ve had on a sack of potatoes, nobody would’ve even noticed or cared. 😂😂😂 I can’t imagine what she would’ve looked with a family of billionaires and Rihanna…

Dupatta hanging on the side is fine when the blouse has a different cut and suitable work on it. Hers was not.

Some corrections, its Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla not Khosia. Its Rahul Mishra (the brand name) not just Mishra. The french brands mostly use Indian Embroiderers for their embroidery. There is no upstaging an Indian bride, in fact if you dont dress to the nines the bride will be disappointed and unhappy. The outfit Deepika is wearing is a saree not lehenga, the performance outfit of Nita Ambani isalso a saree, just draped differently than the "most common way", theres infinite ways to drape a Saree.

7:19 Sheer amount of jewellery? For an Indian bride, that's a minimalist look.
Also, since the bride and groom are elevated so much in every ritual in Indian weddings, the concept of underdressing at someone else's wedding doesn't really exist in India. The family might actually feel slightly sad if you underdress. They'll feel they are not important to you. Also, Indian weddings belong to the bride and groom but the importance of the occasion for friends and family is also recognized.

21:26 Deepika's red saree isn't just a red saree. It is a red Bandhani saree which is very important to a lot of Gujarati and Kutchi communities. It is a common sight to see all immediate family ladies of the bride and groom to wear a red Bandhani saree with the traditional golden border. While Deepika's saree is a, imo, modern mix with the traditional Bandhani, I think it really highlights Bandhani as a textile which is very necessary.

As Indian people we are expected to dress and dress WELL.It's offensive if we don't. Also, I believe Nita Ambai's red sari she wore to the dance was a zari sari, the threads were actually real gold. I think, from the look and movement that is what it seems like.
I think unlike the west, Indian clothes put more emphasis on materials used and technique and not necessarily silhouettes. Because all the silhouettes are the same more or less. The jewelry also should be worn as a support to your clothes.

@16:49 Nita Ambani is wearing a silk sari which is wrapped differently. Remember a sari is usually about 6 yards long. In this style of wrapping, it is tied like a traditional sari with pleating to the front which is tucked in and continues to be tucked in all the way to hip then the end is pleated, draped on the shoulder which leaves a draped piece of pleated fabric from the hip up to the shoulder at the back which you can't see in this pic. A 360 view of this wrapping is absolutely beautifully elegant and very easy to move in once the piece over the shoulder is properly secured.

I read an article where jt said that he suffers from asthma and has to take steroids to properly function. I dont know to what extent this is true or not but these people suffer from a lot of health problems. Sometimes the medicine works sometimes it doesn't, same as us common folks.
Judging people is easy. I have seen myself some people have an extremely difficult time losing weight. Sometimes hormonal issues, sometimes thyroid problem including many more.
Maybe he is lazy and doesn't work out. Who knows. But before judging others we should see what problems are the cause of this.

I visited north of India this February and saw how much poverty and hard manual labor there was. Indian brides are probably a bit different from many cultures, in the sense that they want all their friends and family to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT. Sometimes they hire a makeup artist & hair stylist, not only for themselves but for their close friends & family too. We don't have the concept of "upstaging the bride". The bride wants all the girlies to look their best! I absolutely love this about Indian weddings. It's just a celebration & you all get to have fun. No matter what you do, the bride will not care & she will still be the centre of attention because she's well... the one getting married haha
I think because we're a collectivist society, we value the fact that people invited to our wedding also have a blast.

Nita Ambani's emerald necklace was 500 crores. 😢
Also, the first outfit of anant you talked about was a sherwani. Its a traditional indian suit.
Another thing 😂 the outfit nita Ambani wore for her dance is also a saree just worn in a different way. The draping is what we call a seedha palla instead of an ulta palla which is what you'll usually see.

You should have collab'd this with a jewelry person. This needs a panel. They turned out to say this is what really money looks like. Isha has excellent taste. that pink fit was gorgeous. those emeralds screamed, excuse me, hold my mine. jesus.

FUN FACT : India is the country who started "THE GLOBAL FASHION TREND" with CHINTZ (Its original term was CHEENT but since British could not pronounce it so it became CHINTZ). It was imported from India by all the countries so much that they(British) have to ban it. Then they tried to replicate it but only to be unsuccessful buy creating a substandard quality. Hence it lost it popularity.

Indian outfits are just as much, if not more practical as any western clothing. You just have to google videos of Indian women doing practically everything from dancing and riding motorcycles to doing calisthenics in sarees. And the best most practical thing about them is that it's not tailored, so anybody can wear it and pieces get handed down to or inherited down many generations.

The first look of Anant is called rhe Sherwani..its a classic wedding jacket style which is usually done on weddings and comes in many variations.
The kurta which ia the long shirt comes under the sherwani jackets

In India, sisters/ sis in law, even besties or other close relatives wear lavish looks or their own wedding dresses..it's not in any way disrespect to the bride or about upstaging her.. there's no hard feelings about that, everyone is allowed to look their best without any petty jealousy stuff
Plus we are talking about Ambani wedding here..not dressing UP is not an option

this was so so enjoyable watched the whole thing unlike the Oscars afterparty where I skipped through it. The outfits (rude - the fashion, the culture, the history )were so delicious and the embroidery out of this world. Thank you for sharing.

Really good reaction video...liked how you were so respectful towards Indian embroidery . And in Indian weddings even men dress UP in stunning jackets without worrying about looking 'girly' like in this video, although surely not as much as the girls and like some people have already pointed out, it is common for guests to show up in their best clothes and I undertsand your concerns but don't worry cuz they nothing they wear will ever upstage the bride! The bride and groom are always the center of attention.
