Yoga Mat Towel?! Interesting! I never heard of such a thing haha. I feel like I've been living under a rock. Perfect timing to be watching this. I'm going on a hike and outdoor Yoga trip on Sunday. Thanks for sharing this Jaime!
My husband and I just started doing yoga together since July. We watched your review on the different manduka mats and just purchased our first pro mats as Christmas gifts to each other. I can’t wait to try it out!! Thank you for your in depth reviews!
Awww... that's so sweet, I LOVE that you gifted each other the PRO mats, love it! I'm planning more yoga practice videos all through the month of January, so do subscribe and hit the notification bell so you're notified whenever they drop on Sundays! Here's a 20-minute restorative flow to help stay calm and survive the holidays: ruclips.net/video/VgLXV6EEyRA/видео.html Let me know if there's any other way I can help support your yoga journey!
Thanks Matt! I guess we all learn something new everyday... if you're looking for a yoga mat, I also reviewed 3 of Manduka's mat in last week's video: ruclips.net/video/KZ4xlLZQBnY/видео.html thanks for stopping by!
Hi! I have a Manduka X and I’ve only used it with a mat towel on it. Now I can’t live without it! I just purchased the Pro Travel thanks to your advice! 😘🙏🏼 I will use the mat towel for more cushion 😊
Nice one! I’ve not tried the Manduka X before, but I’m glad you love it 👍 enjoy your new mat towel too! It won’t provide you cushion (as in bouncy feel coz it’s thin), but it will provide you a nice soft, silky feel (and soak up sweat) 😬❤️
I have a couple of towels, but I never really use them! Thanks for showing all the different uses Jaime! Who knows! Maybe I will be using them more now :)
Ha! When all studios were closed in lockdown and I was doing more home practice, I pretty much never used my towels (I just don't get as sweaty at home)... but now that studios and gyms are open and you have to bring even your own bath towel to shower after - I've been going through them in double time!
Great points on using an actual yoga mat towel, I can see how that can be more beneficial in your practice. This towel looks amazing too, I've been looking to replace my current one which is a little to long for my Manduka mat.
This was useful thanks. I have a manduka mat and towel and I’ve used the towel once (yesterday). I found it hard to keep flat and during practice it creases and/or bunches up. This is a distraction and affects technique. Is there something I’m missing??
Thanks for watching! I think it depends on what you’re doing when it bunches/ creases… whenever mine has bunched or creased it’s coz I’ve been dragging my foot/ feet over it, so I usually need to engage more core to lift the foot/ leg higher (eg. Stepping forward from down dog to any of the warrior poses). It also helps when I spray it down with water (which makes it more grippy too). If none of the above works, then maybe you’d prefer something like the Yogitoes towel which has the silicone nubs at the bottom, ensuring they grip the towel in place. I personally don’t like the feel of the yogitoes as I can feel the silicone nubs underneath and I find that distracting (but most people who love their yogitoes don’t notice this)… so it’s all very personal in terms of what you prefer in texture!
I used to shy away from yoga because I noticed it required a lot of upper body strength that I did not have at the time. However this is very interesting and number one has me sold alone
Thanks Chimere! And whenever we start anything new, it'll be a process of figuring it out, until we build the knowledge and strength in this case to 'get better' at the physical poses. The yoga can help you build that upper body strength you need, so keep going. :)
There´s no prerequisite for doing yoga, many people have this notion wich is wrong. You will gain upper body strength by practicing. Many people say, ´id like to do yoga, but im not felixble enough', well thats the hole point. For you to improve where you are lacking :)
You know it's so funny I do have a yoga matt towel but I sopped using it when I saw that no one else was using one in the studio, I felt a bit silly. But what is actually silly is that I worried about what people thought of me lol. Now of course I haven't been to a yoga class since the pandemic hit...
Ha! Well when you go back to the studio, it's time to bring it out of storage! ;) I think it depends what style of yoga you practice - it's a common sight in most hot or ashtanga yoga studios... but a lot less common in Iyengar or Hatha studios since one gets a lot less sweaty with less vigorous yoga styles...
They’re different. Yogitoes has the silicone nubs on one side so they grip to the mat below. The material is more like thin terry too. Whereas the equa is smooth on both sides and material has a more silky finish, kinda like suede/velvet. It’s personal preference at the end of the day. I have both but prefer the equa more for how soft it feels. To get it more grippy, spray water on it.
@@jaimetan thank you for your reply and all the great info you provided to help me decide what to upgrade to. I ordered the pro mat and the eQua cloth. It should arrive on Wednesday, I'm so excited. Have a great day 😊
Hi there! It’s a good towel too, but it’s all down to personal preference. I find it a little “rough” like a regular bath towel so jumping back and jumping through (like in ashtanga or vinyasa) is not as smooth as with the eQua (I’m splitting hairs here, really!). But if you’re not sliding back and forth a lot on your mat this may not matter to you. I LOVE the silky feeling of the eQua - it’s like suede. But I know others who don’t like it because of its silkiness - you need to spray it with water to make it grippy then. I personally am not such a fan of the nubs under the yogitoes, as I feel them in standing poses and I don’t like that feeling. But like I said - it’s personal preference and splitting hairs... best is if you can find a physical store to feel both and see which you prefer! 👍
I personally always enjoy your videos my friend, another great video with great content! Keep your awesome hard work, would love to see more videos from you in the future. :) 🙂🙂
They need to make a new towel for sweaty people in hot yoga, it survives the first hour fifteen, but is completely soaked through during the lying down poses so I'm slipping thereafter. (still better than other yoga mats half its price, but they need to upgrade)
Actually - I didn’t review it here but I think they also have a thicker/ denser hand and mat towel specifically for hot yoga. I think it’s in the eQua towel line-up so you might want to check it out. On their EU site, there’s only the eQua hot hand towel left. Hope this helps!
Heya! They're good too - those silicone nubs at the bottom ensure they stick to your mat. But the texture is more like a thin terry-cloth towel. It's personal preference, but I much prefer the velvety-smooth surface of the eQua - it really helps slide through in jumpbacks/ jump-throughs without the rug burn (if you're into ashtanga/ vinyasa). But I do know some people who don't like this velvety-ness of it as it's not grippy unless you spray it with water. Sooo... it's really personal preference! (Also with yogitoes, I could feel the nubs under my feet in standing poses and I didn't like that feeling - but maybe I'm just more sensitive and it's not an issue for others). Hope this helps!
Throw it in the washing machine and wash with everything else! I remember reading somewhere that it’s probably better without laundry softener as that might make it more slippery, but I use softener anyway… I only ever use my mat towel towards the end of a session, when I’m dripping wet. The moisture increases grip.

I had never put so much thought into a yoga mat towel. Thanks for this!!!
Ha! Right? I totally hear you, but once you have one, you realise what a total difference it can make to your practice!
Guilty of using hotel towels! Your reviews are brilliant Jaime!
Hahaha! Sometimes you've just gotta do what you've gotta do... Thanks for your support, Tertia!
I love your energy! I've been hesitant to get a mat towel, but you're convincing me!

Would love to watch your next video about staying motivated. I NEED that!
For sure! It's coming out this Sunday!
I need to go and get a mat towel! I didn't realise how important it was. It makes sense for hygiene :)
If you get sweaty and slip and slide around your mat a lot, it definitely helps!
I love my yoga mat!! It makes such a difference in my practice.
Glad you love yours!

I am not a yogist but definitely find the information useful. I could see the benefits of the towel.
Thanks for stopping by! And hopefully you might try your first yoga class soon ;)

Hi Jaime tan! :)
What are your thoughts on the yogitoes from manduka? Would you recommend the one you talk about in the video over that one?
Hi there! It’s a good towel too, but it’s all down to personal preference. I find it a little “rough” like a regular bath towel so jumping back and jumping through (like in ashtanga or vinyasa) is not as smooth as with the eQua (I’m splitting hairs here, really!). For #4 did you mean that it will air-dry in less than an hour WITHOUT a dryer? That’d be remarkable.
Yup. Air-dry without a dryer within an hour. ;)
I never knew I needed a yoga mat towel until I watched this video
I know, right? Glad to have helped. If you think you'll get one, do use my link! bit.ly/3mi6eL8 ;)
Wow! It is something to consider!
Who would've thought, huh? Ha!
Thanks, helpful, as I am getting into yoga
