While on a recent tour through Europe we had the chance to stop in Ireland to film this music video in the breathtaking Irish countryside. What do you think of our spin on this beloved Irish anthem? Let us know in the comments below. Видеоклипы
My dad used to whistle and sing this when I was growing up. I sat with him and held him the night he passed. I would so very much like to hear him sing it one more time. The time we have is precious use it wisely
My father also used to sing this when I was young. He'll turn 80 this year. I can't imagine a world without him. The thought is paralyzing at times.
Amo Black Ice
Yes, so many of us learned it from our fathers - As it should be! I remember my dad sang this to me when i was a young boy. I lost my oldest brother, his first born, when I was 12 years old, and I don't recall hearing my dad sing it since then... I am performing it solo this St. Patty's Day, and I'll ask someone to record it so I can send it to him - he is now 94. I hope I don't fuck it up...
You'll be fine! You've got this, brother!
my father was a singer....boy was he a singer....he could fill the entire church with his booming voice....he sang Danny boy....still missing my dad all these yrs...
My grandfather was an awesome, stand up Irishman. 🍀 the night before he passed, I sat at his bed side and sang this to him, as we used to sing it together and he smiled 💔 I miss you, grandpa 💗🙏🏻🕊
that's sad may your grandfather rest in peace😭😢
😢😢
whoa. too beautiful.
thank you
My grandpa was a veteran and he loved this song. It was played on the bagpipes at his funeral six months ago. Thank you for making me feel close to him again ❤️
Vets🙏
❤️❤️
It's a good tune
:( sad
ur grandpa go sky monkey
My father used to sing this to me when I was a little kid. Then when he spent his last year in a nursing home he sang that to me. I said Dad why are you singing that old song. He said, I love my kids, what can I say.
That old song stayed in his heart for many reasons and he knew it! You knew it too!
#bless what a beautiful memory to share.
you're a lucky boy. your dad loves you so much.
Wow. Such a sweet legacy.
stoppit with the onions dan.
My dad has gone.
Tomorrow his granddaughters play this song on violin at his funeral.
It makes me goosebumps.
Thanks for this great song.
I hope you're doing well man. I know it will never be ok, but sometimes you can take solace. Good luck man.
Sorry about ur loss
Very beautiful song. These 3 men do a excellent job singing the song!!
I've been a singer for 50 years, and this song has always been my favorite.

This is my omas song, she passed right after the new years last year, I was there til the end, for her and my grandpapa, my son asks me to play omas song all the time, brings tears to my eyes every time. Rip oma, we love you
In memory of our loved ones who have passed away. They are always there in our hearts.
These gentlemen sing the most touching and beautiful rendition of "Danny Boy" that I've ever heard.
Really....
Then you haven't heard Johnny Cash, or Jim McCann.
BYU vocal point as well

My brother is a traditional Irish Folk musician. One of the things he always said about this song is that as far as any one knows,it is the only Irish tune where a father expresses his love for his son.
That's interesting, although it seems like this father son relationship is uncommon in songs in other genres too
Yeah, because the irish fear being considered gay😂
Well Frederic Weatherly was English........
What do ye mean tell me son oy loves 'im? T'aint natural.
That's because all the other songs are about men expressing love for their whiskey bottles.
The french horn, the pipes and drums, and the perfect harmony sends the chills.
This song brings me to tears every time I listen to it. My Dad used to sing it to me and I sill miss him terribly.
My grandmother used to sing this to me. May she have arrived in heaven a half hour before the devil even knew she was dead.
Was she that bad.
I hope not
@@budsy08 I know what it means, i was living in Ireland when they started printing it on tea towels for the tourists.
@ronald tanner not at all
@@hetrodoxlysonov-wh9oo I still remember the first time I heard it. My uncle was killed and the pastor said it during his homily. I was about 5 in 1989 and its been with me to this day.
My father died, three month ago. this is one of the songs I would of liked to be play at his funeral. I loved my dad and he will be missed.
Remembering my little brother who we lost in May. I miss him so badly. Learning this to sing for him.
Their voices are so beautiful! 😱😳😍
When I was 12 my father told me that he wanted this song to be played at his funeral. Although he has not passed, and hopefully has a very long life to live ahead of him, this song makes me cry every time I hear it. You guys did a great job!
Beautiful melody. I love the version by Emma Sophia and also the Korean version. Such a beautiful song where we can keep in our hearts forever.
Lol
I'm on my way out soon and this is the only thing that I want played at my goodbyes. Gotta be Irish and Scottish to need this.
I am from India. Mostly unaware about the back stories and emotions that Irish people have connected to this song. But I just heard it for the first time and could not stop my tears. Such a beautiful song!
It's an English song.
This cover by Gentri, I love it too and listen to it very often. It's so beautiful and so uplifting. The other great cover of this that I like is that sung by Celtic Woman.
Written by an English man 👍
It is really a heart wrenching story of a father's love for his son. That translates to all cultures. But the thought that a dead father in a grave would be comforted knowing his son has returned and stands on the ground above him... I don't know - that just hits me so hard - I can't help but cry.
🙏Thank you for your comment.
Don’t tell the homies I cried to this
Secrets safe with us.
@Mocha Mochi Guy , So am I - crying, I mean, and keeping it to myself.
At 'the pipes are calling' I'm crying
Almost same
I cry even when I sing this song to myself, can't help it
Me and my Homies cried to this, what a beautiful song
This song, today, still brings tears to my eyes. This is a beautiful version.
In loving memory of Daniel Frances Price, a young love who was not mine to love, who passed from this life December 14, 2019. Thank you for the gift of friendship and for my dearest friend of my heart, your one true love... We will always remember you, Danny.

THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN. IT GET'S TO ME EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT. IF IT DOESN'T TUG AT YOUR HEART STRINGS, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU. MY EYES ARE FILLING UP NOW.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm singing this song for choir and knowing the meaning behind the song touches my heart so much that I start crying in rehearsal
I don't know if you'll want to know this or not, but the "meaning behind the song" in this video is not true. Frederick Weatherly had a son who died in 1910, years before the war, and his name wasn't Daniel. He starting writing the song months before his son suddenly died.
My dad used to sing this, we played at his funeral 1988 - aged 48.......a beautiful rendition
I was NOT prepared for that harmony! My goodness the way your voices sound together is angelic!!
I am full Irish guy brought up in England and my nan and Grandad use to sing this to me when I was growing up and when I leave this world this song will be my funeral song.
❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍. My father, a Swede, sang this song for me when I was very young. Can still hear him from above in some way. It,s a lovely song as well.
Long live Ireland 🍀💚🍀🇨🇮
The most amazing singing of this song! My Aunt sang this in church when her brother, my Uncle Jerry died. I never cried so hard, but this made me cry for awhile more. God Bless our Irish Heritage. I am so grateful for my family..I didn’t understand why the way they were, I understand now as I am the same.
This is a great Song! Even though I'm from Austria, and I've never heard it before! Peace to ALL our Fathers and Grandfathers who fought for their Country!
May they Rest in Peace!
Just stunning. My dad and I would sit on the deck in the summer overlooking the water and drink scotch and belt out this song when we were reminiscing about friends and family gone too soon. When he passed and his ashes were spread I sang it alone. I always tear up when I hear it but this rendition made me cry. Tears of grief, happiness at a memory, release from so much stress that the world is in right now from the pandemic, that America is in from D.C., from the hate that holds the country, tears of joy from the pure beauty of their voices.
Thank you for this. Tears are needed sometimes, they cleanse the soul. Put everything into perspective. Start a new day with a clean slate.
Thank you for sharing your pain. I have the same pain and sometimes tears just come for no reason. May God help us.
may your dad rest in peace
When my Dad was alive,he used to sing this song.He had a good singing voice. Love this song.
I myself am german and so didn't crew up with music like this but i, and probably every over person has to accept that the Irish culture is beautiful. This Song is just so full of love and, in my eyes at least what art should be. This is a great work and i am happy that thus could make me cry for persons i didn't know.
The greatness of any cover of this song is when the singer hits, I'll be here! .... nails it...
of everyone who covered this song, you guys are the only ones who actually made me cry :)
Me too. I can’t put into words how emotional this video makes me. Best rendition I’ve seen yet!
My dad loved this song we would sing it together he said reminded him of when he was in Ireland my irish grandmother named him Danny too makes me tear up every time I hear it so beautiful
I heard this song when I learned english and ever since it bring tears to my eyes.
I can relate so much to this song.
born in germany into the worst war ever seen and moving to australia learning english and discovering it's treasures in speech and song.
What a bountiful language it is.
My friend close to me he sang this song and he was from Ireland 🇮🇪 it was beautiful..God bless..
Greetings from two german who Love Irish folk. One time we fly to ireland and enjoy the irish way of live. Thank you very much for your music ❤️
One of my Irish father's favourite songs. He would sing it. He had a lovely voice. Lovely rendition. Thank you.
My sister sang this for my dad (Daniel Murphy) at his funeral who passed away 2010....RIP dad
The way this song is done is just absolutely beautiful.
Much love to all of you around the world and GOD BLESS IRELAND for the mystical beautiful music you have blessed the world with. IT IS STRAIGHT FROM GOD AND IS MAGICAL. To all our people who have passed on, WE HONOR YOU AND WE LOVE YOU. WE WILL MEET AGAIN IN THE NEXT WORLD WHERE THERE IS NO PAIN. MUCH LOVE from Baltimore, Md, USA
It's an English song, but glad you like it.
We used to sing this as a family with dad on guitar....a real trip down memory lane...
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
And take ye with my memory ever smiling
Untrodden path, I'll tarry by your side
And though you leave behind a silver lining
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.
Thank you for posting those lyrics, 'cuz sometimes the singer's voice is overshadowed by the music. This gets the whole point across quite clearly. Thanks again.
Thanks. Very kind of you.
This song would bring my grandfather to tears
It broght me to tears.
I’ve listened to this many times and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes
I love Ireland and Irish people. I’m a retired US soldier and this song is beautiful.
Are you Irish?
@@myrtokaltsidou9679 no I just love their attitude towards life

Beautiful song sung beautifully. A father eternal love for his son.
This song always makes me cry. So touching and beautiful. 😭
My grandfather would always sing this song. He and I didn't agree on everything but I loved my Papa. This song reminds me of someone who believed in me and loved me no matter what. I cried listening to it.
we played this at my dad's funeral...it's such a beautiful song and always makes me teary eyed and this is sung sooo beautifully
You guys can do no wrong. You’ve given this lovely song the tingle factor with your trademark harmonies. Exquisite.
Everyone can do wrong. Don't you know we all sin. But that is why the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins.
This song is truly heartwarming and the cinematography is incredible, Ireland looks like a beautiful, historical place.
The tune/music is Londonderry Air, the lyrics were written in 1913 by an Englishman for his son
Eines der schönsten Lieder für mich. Danke von Herzen
This was my dad's favourite and was played at his funeral.
This rendition is stunningly beautiful and made me weep.
Remembering him on his birthday, today, until we meet again 💙
My high school choir sang when I was in 10th grade. Being an alto(lower girl part) and singing this song would give me chills every time. When we preformed it for our concert our choir director cried and so did some audience members. It’s really a beautiful song
What a beautiful rendition. As beautiful as your music is, even more beautiful is your gracious souls. The wonderful things you have done for those that are suffering stands as a testimony that the power of God works through you. Gentri has made a lasting impact on my life and the lives of countless others. I just want you to know that the World is a much better place for having you outstanding Gentlemen in it. May I offer you all of my respect and love.
When I was little, my Dad always would sing this song to me. When he passed, I played this version at his service as a special way of saying goodbye. I miss my Dad terribly. I can't help but cry when I hear this song. Till Valhalla and we see each again Dad.
O my Word ' These boys are totally Amazing " " their voices are definitely a gift from above ❤
We played this for my grandpa when he passed and this is the song that cracks me up😥 but it also makes me happy that he's at rest❤, love you grandpa🎅❤🕊

*I was able to go to Ireland last May; what a beautiful country*
All 17% of my Irish felt that. 💚
My favorite song of all time and they did it justice
Guys I’m in tears. This hits home hard. Have always held this song close but you have given it a new life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wish my great grandfather was alive to hear this. He fought for his country and all people across the world.
Chłopaki...jak Wy śpiewacie....🤗 To rozkosz dla ucha... Pozdrawiam serdecznie i dziękuję ....😘😘😘 Thank you...
This was the first song I ever heard (as far I can remember) and I cried because it was so beautiful. It always gets me even to this day. I am well into my 50ies.
I’m singing this in my choir class, and MAN is this song so beautiful!
And three of you are the Danny Boy for each of your fathers, they will be so proud of you to hear you three singing this song so harmoniously 👦👦👦💙💙💙👨👨👨
When voice music and emotions come together... Tears roll down 💜 loads of love and respect to this song and the singers 🇮🇳
Sweetest song from Emerald Island, Love the Song and the people.
No it's not! The tune aka music is a traditional piece of music called Londonderry Air, the lyrics were written by Frederic Weatherly in 1913 in Bath, Somerset for his son. People do actually do this of thing, you know to take an old melody and turn it into something new, Simple Minds from Glasgow in 1989 took the melody of Irish folk song "She Moved Through the Fair" and added their lyrics which became Belfast Child, and that became a massive hit!
Beautiful song. Beautiful, princely voices. Beautiful men. 😍
Oh my goodness I only meant to listen to the song while I did other things but when I started seeing the scenery and how stunning it is I couldn’t look away. Not to mention the three gorgeous guys that sang it. Way to go thank you so much for the video! 🌈💕💕🌈
Sometimes I hear this song and cry, and I don't even know why. It is just so emotional it touches something deep inside of me.
Me too😍😍
This is an amazing Version. Each time I hear the song I have to cry, because the deep love that gets transmitted by the song touches my heart and soul so much.
I'll get reminded that I'm loved for what I am and that's just enough - without any conditions or things I apparently have to do.
Thanks and may you all have a nice day.
Selten so ein emotionales Lied gehört, kann es mir stundenlang anhören. Und immer wieder kommen mir die Tränen
This song has given me the chills and gave me hope that the love ones that have gone before me are looking forward to when i come home to them but until then i have hope that I will join them and you gave this your all and gave it justice
