Around the time Savannah Fulkerson turned 4, she became unable to spend any length of time outdoors. “We’d be outside about 20 minutes or so … she’d say, ‘I burn!’” recalled Savannah’s mother Andrea Fulkerson. Fulkerson remembers Savannah in so much pain she had “uncontrollable screaming like she got hit by a car.”

I went to school with a girl who’s whole family wore all black and carried umbrellas outside. Everyone always said she was allergic to the sun. I always wanted to talk to her but didn’t want to be rude or bother her. She was beautiful but very pale. I think about her a lot and wonder what that was all about

Maybe they were worried and they took a video for the doctor to see how she reacts instead of putting her through the pain again for the doctor.
They do that because the reaction to pains makes medical diagnoses easier, and even more identifiable to individuals that may be suffering.

I so emphasize with her. I have a similar problem that started in the 30's after years of skin diving , living on a sail boat and spending so much time outdoors. What has helped me is to block any kind of light from my scalp and face. Wearing a wig blocks the light and protects me from any kind of direct light. I wear it outside and when driving etc. It really helps. No mote buring needles in my skin. I don't have to constantly be checking the light above me like I use to. At home I have soft lamps etc for lighting. Maybe trying a wig might also help others. I wear a 50 SPF & a 30 SPF on my face. I do wear sun blocking clothing if outside. I think the most life changing thing for me was the discovery that blocking light on my head hepled to calm my face and the rest of my body as well. I still can't stand under CFL or halogen lights without becoming tachycardic and sick to my stomach but it has really helped me.

Hi, friend, don't know if this will help her, but I once read in a health book somewhere that allergies can be caused by toxins backed up in the liver. Health food stores may carry a liver cleanse product for her to try. Do your research. God bless. RR
