This is the most important jazz piano work of the 20th century. And I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that it already ranks high on the list in the 21st century. Bill Dobbins has employed his genius to produce a work of great value. Thank you!!!
These are the Goldberg variation of jazz piano....
este video es de los muy escasos q hay en RUclips q tiene un rico contenido en cuanto a la música jazz. Gracias por compartirnos esta joya.
This is wonderful. For anyone interested, Bill Dobbin's has written out each one of these solos with even more detailed writeups of each composer and performer in his book The Contemporary Jazz Pianist Volume 4.
PieInTheSky where can we find it? Please email me at jsr17b@my.fsu.edu
Clare Fischer once said to me that on first hearing the 'Clare' arrangement, he said "Damn! This guy's got me figured out!" That's a great compliment, because needless to say, Clare had a VERY unique approach to harmony.
THIS GUY IS SO SEVERELY GIFTED - he makes me sick!!. To be able to play in any of the styles of the old and modern masters is an amazing talent. For anybody who loves jazz piano, this is an hour and a half not to be missed.
Man, you are so right! How many of the guys he is teaching on can actually do what he just did??? He is amazing and obviously an underrated and certified master! He is right at their level and more in my book. I listen to this all the time with the book he published for it. One day I will actually attempt to play all 24. LOL!!
@@dstrongcrowe432strong6 Dobbins is incredible! Every serious jazz pianist should study this, and study it, and study it, and.... you get the idea. :)
These are the Goldberg variations of jazz piano
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll second that!
Maravillosa y magistral exposición de los estilos más relevantes del piano jazz solo. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Less than 5k views, Impossible...such a rich material. God,
Dobbins is definitely a God!
The Cecil Taylor part!!❤
Muchas gracias por compartir!!! :D
❤️
His book on creative jazz harmony is an awesome tribute to his literary talent and expert pedagogy as well.
¡muchas gracias por la traducción JUAN PARDO!
Un gran trabajo! y un gran video!
Thank you very much for this--I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing presentation by Bill Dobbins! It must be incredibly enjoyable to be able to sit down and play all those different styles so well! I wish that Dave Brubeck had been included here, but I realize there's no way to pay tribute to all the great jazz pianists in one go. Still, I'd take "In Your Own Sweet Way" over a great many of the compositions of the jazz pianists who are included in this presentation. But still, this was wonderfully enjoyable, and thank you again so much for sharing it!
Oro puro !!!!
Extraordinario. Imprescindible video para pianistas. Master Class. Gracias por el video y subtitulo.
Bravo!!!!!! Excelente 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Muchísimas gracias por compartir esto. Un abrazo desde Aragón
Exelente y maravilloso video.
It's fun to see how much he enjoys imitating Erroll Garner
very cool

El profesor de Chano Domínguez
el hermano menor de pedro aznar
Jajaja totalmente! Estaba pensando lo mismo mientras lo veía
the only thing that surprises me is that he didnt include Herbie Hancock
Check the Clare Fisher Part. Hancock was heavily inspired by him. Put in some Blues/Soul/Funk and Quartal Shenanigans and there you go.
