"Sprinklers." hit me so hard 😅There is no sound more devastating to an astrophotographer than the spluttery warning that your gear is about to be soaked in 5 seconds. Glad you made it back out the next night! That turned out gorgeous!
"I intentionally do not go out of my way to make epic images. This vacation just isn't this kind of vacation." In the times where people despair to catch others' attention with saturated, colourful, shocking imagery this is such a mature approach. "(...) This floodlight sends a slice of light into the golfcourse which is putting a sidelight on (...) this adorably shaped tree on the golfcourse that I have just adored here, for the past few years." This made me grin so wide! I'm very much amateur, but I consider noticing, fixating on the beauty of the world around me -- like a particular tree -- the greatest gift I got from shooting photos. Cheers and thanks for another upload!
Pure joy to watch this video. Great storytelling, including suspense and beautiful photos. …. and perfect matched music. Thank you for this piece of art.
Your mentality of not intentionally seeking out epic images is refreshing. I hardly go out of my way for photos, because when I do, they never turn out the way I want, or don’t turn out nearly was well as my “random” or candid shots. I try to let the moment come to me. There are, of course, exceptions for phenomena like the aurora or an eclipse, but my lack of “effort” makes me feel like I don’t try enough, or I’m an imposter.
So good to hear folks using MWFC. I’m a stone’s throw away in Kansas City and love supporting them. They’re the best. This might be my favorite video of yours. The journey, the payoff, the ice cream, the way you documented it…AND you did a great job matching your video to the 250D. Bravo. 👏
Love this video (and all your others) your dedication to stay up all night is truly inspiring. Im a greenkeeper in Australia and we don't tend to water the same areas every night so you should have been ok thanks again for such a cool video 😊
Fantastic! That small tree shot was just gorgeous! Sorry your lens fogged. Those color shots were stunning! I haven’t done astrophotography but I did shoot my first ever fireworks last year, and was glad I did.
I think the sprinklers with that long of an exposure would just add a ground fog effect and be pretty cool. But if there is ambient light they may be too bright.
Went to the Cave's in MN first time few weeks ago, just to try out my settings. Same thing happened to me man, pretty much most my shot unusable. I needed a tripod but they not allowed and my ISO was way too high. Also all I got is crop sensor so....
Hi from over the pond in England although I have Scottish blood .. Such a beautiful video … I do love the last year this year idea it was great to see the difference although you did state at the start the while b&w thing went wrong … but I prefer ice cream 🍦 b&w shot to colour. All the colour this year stuff was warm rich exposed beautifully omg the light … I would crawl on my belly for a thousand days to see and feel that light .. Ok I’m taking to much which I’m famous for… loves the long exposure stuff especially of course the tree your in love with I totally get that … it looks super cool as you mentioned the colours are so warm … nothings ever perfect in our lives right as photographers but … the exposure was close to oh I can’t say perfect you get it … Oh.. and I have an idea for the photo towards the end … you’ll no which one I mean and I loved it … and I have a name for it .. brace yourself .. “The boy in red” You can it for free. I really liked that photo the whole feeling was distant and mysterious all that stuff. Close encounters esque. Super cool video. Tommy who definitely talks to much. Thank you 😊 Keep on shooting on.
Thank you for making a great video. It’s great that you have found a sponsor to help support you and your work. In the future, could you be more careful with how you represent your sponsors’ products and services? 4:40 “Milanote is totally free.” At best this is slightly misleading. At worst, it is an objective lie, perhaps unintentional. While they do have a free tier (with limitations) they also have paid plans. This makes complete sense as they are a for profit business…nothing wrong with paid plans, but hopefully you can see how representing that as “totally free” is incorrect. Signing up might be considered “totally free” but the product is definitely not. Again, great video. I am just hoping I don’t have to balance “@graincheck makes videos that I enjoy” with “@graincheck lies to me”. All the best in future videos.

'last year' shots still have that dreamy soft look that will make you look back with nostalgia. even if not intended, film is merciful.
Graincheck is my favorite photography channel
😭😭😭

Girl, when you revealed that shot after all that suspense I had to pause the video! How incredible to see your vision come through. I love it so much

this place feels like the archetypal american forest cabin. like concept art for a story come to life.
Absolutely love how you're running around creating amazing photos with a nikon f3 instead of a Leica Mwhatever.

Great film. We go back to a similar spot every year for a family vacation and I love reviewing how the images I make change year over year ;)
beautiful video and images…you really did convey through the screen the feel of that place 😍
F3 girl!! I have an FA... I always wanted an F3.. LOVE THIS!! Thank you
Fantastic! That small tree shot was just gorgeous! Sorry your lens fogged. Those color shots were stunning! I haven’t done astrophotography but I did shoot my first ever fireworks last year, and was glad I did.

👍
As an amateur photographer for 35-odd years and an amateur astronomer for 55-ish years, I approve of this. 😊
It's good to see a Nikon F3 in its natural environment !!
1:46 2:17 3:11 7:27 8:35 16:43 and all of the ones in the end just make me stare at them for hours :)

Excellent video enjoyed it
Astro photo on film is a whole other missions. Now we must take note to account of sprinklers. Lol
Sojourn - to dwell for a time… 👏🏻 I gotta ask, do you use the Depth of Field scale on your lens to maximize your range of sharpness?
wonderful
Great video! You make me want to shoot my film cameras more.
the way you've captured this place on film and for video is so warm & cozy. what video camera are you using for this?
a fujifilm xt4 :) thank you sooooooo much
That 250d is so killer I can’t wait to shoot mine also from Midwest film co!! Did you self scan these or get them scanned from Midwest?
midwest scanned em! gorgeous no? ❤️🔥🥲

Excuse me, sprinklers in the woods? 😮 Here in Amsterdam we only have those in toilets to stop people from smoking weed in there.

Thank you 😊

I don’t know why you didn’t calculate the focus on the tree. The calculations are right on the lens. 🤷🏻♂️
Anyways, nice video. +1. 👍🏻
Yessirr another graincheck video
