Recently discovered Yob, after listening to Vhol for sometime, and now I'm starting to understand the man behind these incredible songs. Such a cool, humble dude, that just likes to express his feelings thru music. Yob is definitely love!
...unreal guitartone...love that ''eastern'' touch in the riffs...Wonder what would happen if Mike S and Matt P started a band together...Maybe the entire universe collapses with the first riff, haha................
there is so much fucking flavor and pure, unadulterated emotion behind the things Mike plays. it reminds me of Crowbar. and then of course, a healthy amount of some straight up noisecore (in the sense of, like, early ETID or Coalesce or something)
***** he says in this article (www.lollipop.com/article.php3?content=issue67/f-yob.html) that they play in drop A, but hey it could very well be standard for this one
Mike plays in a standard.. you need a heavy gauge of strings and also be careful when bending. Mostly monson guitars. He also uses an unusual picking technique that involves hitting the root note and simultaneously fingepicking the brighter strings
the tone is so gritty yet smooth. like a lava milkshake
Alex Ellsworth you said it seinfeld
Best description ever :)
oh hi Mark
Love his style, so smooth. Would love to see him and Pike do something together. It would be amazing.
oh my fucking god yes
we wouldn't survive it. matt would deconstruct us and mike would rebuild us just so matt could crush us again.

I LOVE his usage of thick, complex chords and occasional open high strings.

The intro song is Prepare the ground from album Atma
I like to see him and Luc Lemay get together. I think they’d make some insane Death/Doom.

Awesome !!! Kinda reminds me of old Candlemass :) THANKS
candlemass are legends, but Yob are next level doom...
Mike's playing is like a heavier Matt Pike. The man slides like no other.
