He was in financial difficulties so the kind of talking you mean wouldn't have helped. Their home was for sale supposedly because they 'wanted to buy a larger one' when the reality is that he couldn't even afford that one. He couldn't face the humiliation of being a failure. Parents wouldn't bail him out so he ended it. People need to learn to humble themselves. The only talking that would have helped him would have been to go talk to her parents but his pride got in the way. He preferred to be dead than be seen as a failure.
